From the survey and classification results, we found that children's address in communication concentrates on two situations (family and community) with six thematic groups associated with two pairs of roles (upper-lower role pair and peer role pair Children's address terms to children have 2 forms of addressing and 5 forms of calling, while children's address terms to adults have 3 forms of addressing and 7 forms of calling. Analysis of the characteristics of address affirms that the language used by children is diverse, reflecting the entire spiritual life, innocence, and simplicity of children. It also reflects the honest, straightforward, warm, generous, and affectionate culture of the people in the Southern region.","PeriodicalId":446153,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"496 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140454026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pandemic was caused by an outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). It disrupted contact among people and more so delivery of education. The experience exposed a serious lack of preparedness and crisis in delivery of learning, forcing schools to adopt online modes of instruction. It became clear that most lecturers were not prepared for online education. Therefore, there is need to look critically into the experiences of university lecturers during and after this period so as to inform policy in education. This study was carried out to reflect on this phenomenon with a view to drawing valuable lessons from the lecturers who taught online at the time of the pandemic. The specific objectives of the study were: to undertake a reflection on how COVID-19 influenced lecturers’ mode of instruction; to establish the attitudes of lecturers towards online instruction as new normal, and to explore lecturers’ experiences of disruption by COVID-19. The study used a qualitative approach called Hermeneutic phenomenology, an interpretative method that puts together several activities in its data analysis. To begin with, a narrative design was used to generate primary data. Here, data was collected using face-to-face interviews with 20 lecturers from 3 selected universities in Uasin Gishu County, Kenya. Participants were asked to read and comment on the items of interview to ensure everything was clear. The process of data collection took place from February and March 2023. All interviews took not more than 30 minutes. The findings were coded by experts in qualitative research and themes identified. Narrative description has been employed to present the findings.","PeriodicalId":446153,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"37 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140498804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data was appraised using Descriptive statistics such as Means, Standard Deviation and Inferential Statistics such as Pearson linear correlation coefficient (PLCC) for quantitative magnitudes. The study outcomes came up with a significant association between Pay Differentials and Employee Performance in Mitooma District in Western Uganda. The research project concluded that Pay differential is an important concept in the HR world as it helps to ensure that employees are being fairly compensated for their work. Pay differential is a form of pay compensation that is used to recognize the differences in skill and knowledge levels, experience, and other factors that may affect the value of an employee's work. It is used to reward employees for their higher levels of knowledge, skill, experience, and other factors that may make them more valuable to the organization. From the research hard work findings, the academic expert recommended that Government of Uganda should augment on the budget meant to pay salaries of its workers and that people with similar qualifications, doing similar jobs should be paid the same amount of money in terms of salary or salary scales. This can be an impetus for better performance in Government Agencies, Departments and Ministries. It can be observed that such a scenario may expendite the process of growth and development in the country at large.","PeriodicalId":446153,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences","volume":"154 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139170396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
