As such, there are little activities in the rural and urban communities to enhance their social and economic involvement. The significance of South African Universities towards the economic growth of rural areas through community participation and assisting with implementation of national priorities and schemes is of importance. This paper demonstrates the role that universities play in economy, empowerment and participation in their socioeconomic development and their impact towards the community sustainability. This report elaborates on the impact of the programs developed for the community’s economy, change and the attitude in their business ventures and activities. The paper focuses on the BRICS Countries as representing the world’s emerging markets and doing so as a counterweight to the G8 and G20 Countries. This paper conveys different aspects of university programs by using literature review on rural and urban economic growth by evaluating its impacts towards rural communities. That is establishing different key roles in developing their quality of life through higher education organizations and informed programmes established by the universities. In the end the objective of the article is to identify collective gaps that will assist to take action on poverty and the lack of development in rural areas.","PeriodicalId":443735,"journal":{"name":"DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127427206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists of a weight sensor in the base plate, indicating when it is reached the required amount, cutting food supplies and in the next appropriate time places only the missing food on the plate. It also has a sensor in the food container for measuring the percentage of existing food and sending a text message to the phone numbers of registered users, as it reaches 20% of total capacity.","PeriodicalId":443735,"journal":{"name":"DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132460489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is one of the traditional techniques for protein quantitation. Recently, the multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mass spectrometry has been proposed as a new method for protein quantification and has been popular as an alternative to ELISA. However, not many analysis methods are available yet to analyse MRM data. Linear mixed models (LMMs) are effective in analysing MRM data. MSstats is one of the most widely used tools for MRM data analysis which is based on the LMMs. MSstats is well implemented on Skyline program and R programming language. However, LMMs often provide various significance results depending on model specification. Thus, sometimes it would be difficult to specify a right LMM for the analysis of MRM data. In this paper, we systematically investigated the effect of model specification on significance of proteins through simulation studies. Our results provide a practical guideline of using LMMs for MRM data analysis.","PeriodicalId":443735,"journal":{"name":"DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127732284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, we examine five considerations which influence the decision of social entrepreneurs to lead an initiative. a. The extent to which the project is interesting, innovative and will bring about long-term change in the community. b. People’s level of cooperation in the community where the initiative will be carried. c. The initiative’s level of logistic simplicity. d. The extent to which the entrepreneur is able to invest time in the project, in relation to his current level of activity in the different areas of his life. e. The extent to which the project’s vision and the entrepreneur’s social vision are compatible. We collected data from 144 potential social entrepreneurs using an experimental design pattern. We found that all these five factors are statistically significant in their impact on willingness to initiate a social innovation. The Standardized Coefficients are given in brackets: e (0.474), a (0.265), b (0.236), d (0.221) and c (0.108). The design is discrete, localised optimisations based on similarity, followed by a global aggregating layer, which can be compared with the recent random neural network designs, for example. The topic relates to the IDEAS Smart Home Energy Project, where a client-side Artificial Intelligence component can predict energy consumption for appliances. The proposed data model is essentially a look-up table of the key energy bands that each appliance would use. Each band represents a level of consumption by the appliance. This table can replace disaggregation from more complicated methods, usually constructed from probability theory, for example. Results show that the table can accurately disaggregate a single source to a set of appliances, because each appliance has quite a unique energy footprint. As part of predicting energy consumption, the model could possibly reduce costs by 50% and more than that if the proposed schedules are also included. The hyper-grid has been changed to consider rows as single units, making it more tractable. A second case study considers wind power patterns, where the grid optimises over the dataset columns in a self-similar way to the rows, allowing for some level of feature analysis.","PeriodicalId":443735,"journal":{"name":"DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114735883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
