When healthcare services are perceived positively by patients, it acts as a motivating factor to seek healthcare services under that facility. However,factors such as lack of medicine, few medical staff, long waiting hours to access medical care negatively limit accessibility to such services. Tanzania like the rest of the developing countries, old people are not immune from these challenges. Evidence from empirical review indicate that public healthcare provision to old people is constrained by number of factors such as poor Abstract: The concept of Perception in the discourse of healthcare setting is increasingly becoming an important aspect in determining the quality of services provided to patients.The main objective of this study was toassess perception of old people on healthcare services provided in public hospitals in Tanzania. The study was conducted in Kasulu district in Kigoma region covering two wards of Murubona and Rusesa using cross sectional case study design informed by positivist paradigm as one of the philosophical assumptions. The total number of participants engaged in this study was 57. These included 48 old people, 2 Nurses, 3 Medical Doctors, 1 District Medical Doctor (DMO) and 3 Health Social Workers. Data were collected using in-depth interview, focus group discussion and observation. Qualitative data was analyzed by using thematic method. Study findings revealed that old people had negative perception on the quality of healthcare services provided in public hospitals. Lack of medicine and medical equipment, inadequate number of health workers, discrimination by health workers were the main obstacles that made old people to perceive negatively on the quality of healthcare services provided in public hospitals.The study strongly recommends that health workers’ trainings should be integrated with customer care and social skills for caringold people;health workers to abide to professional ethics and the governments to equip public hospitals with medicine and adequate number of gerontology and geriatricians who will provide specialized medical and social care.","PeriodicalId":443596,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Humanities & Social Studies","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123722420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The underlying objectives of the study were; To investigate the historical factors that led to the growth of Marriage market to 1960, to analyse how the relationship between the traders and locals led to the transformation of Marriage market between 1961 to 1978, to investigate the relationship between the various market policies and how the they impacted on the growth of Marriage market between 1979-2000 and to analyse the relationship between the urbanization in neighbouring towns and the fall of Marriage market. The study was based on the Structural Functionalism Theory by COMTE (1984). The research utilized both primary and secondary sources which will be used to acquire data on issues of development of Marriage market in Komothai, Kiambu County, Kenya. The study was done in Marriage market in Komothai, Kiambu County, Kenya. This area was picked in light of the fact that it contains people of assorted tribes carrying out various economic activities in the region and some have been born and raised in the area, hence familiar to the historical changes the market has undergone. The study utilized interviews questions as the main instruments to collect data. The study also relied on both secondary and primary written sources to gather information which was utilized to gather data on issues of development of Marriage market in Komothai, Kiambu County, Kenya. From the findings it is clear that Marriage market thrived to national status by 1960s and 70s, was by the year 2000 an abandoned place with minimal or no activities. A trader who used to bring commodities such as salt from Magadi or tobacco from Meru in the 1970s, who would happen to visit the area by the year 200, would only be welcomed by cows and goats grazing on the overgrown grass, a sign of an abandoned and alienated place. Several factors had contributed to the growth of Marriage market as explained earlier; which included; the population of the surrounding villages, agricultural activities such coffee farming and cattle keeping, peaceful coexistence of locals, strategic location and infrastructure. That factors that led to the collapse of the market on the other hand include rural to urban migration, the collapse of the coffee industry and the rise of new urban centres in close proximity to Marriage market. Among the recommendations that have been offered by the current research include the need of having developments based on merit as opposed to political inclination. Another key recommendation is that the government should come up with policies for rural industrialization. The current study also recommends for the government and non-state actors raise infrastructure standards in rural areas. This research was conducted using observation and interview techniques using a list of questions as a research instrument, then the data were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study are: people's political behavior has changed due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, therefore, some people are afraid to come to give their right to vote on polling day. There are people's political behavior in the local election who are participating in the election and some are afraid to participate in the election, because after all this is a consideration that Covid-19 does not vote because of the frightening outbreak. The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic made people afraid to exercise their right to vote when a democratic party was held, so the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak became a separate obstacle where people were prohibited from gathering together when they exercised their right to vote. Political behavior in the election has also changed due to changes in the political culture adopted by the community, but during the Covid-19 pandemic, people's political behavior changed by itself even though it was not influenced by political culture. Political behavior has changed because of people's fear of pandemic disease outbreaks that have hit the world as well as in Indonesia, so the government has to postpone the schedule for the elections to be held in Indonesia, because it is to break the chain of the Covid-19 pandemic.","PeriodicalId":443596,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Humanities & Social Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131361008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This smooth flow can be achieved with the use of little words (or response tokens) which do not appear to have any effect on the syntactic structure of the utterances but add important pragmatic value to them. This paper is a case study on the use of response tokens in Ghanaian English. It investigates the types and functions of the tokens as they used in this variety of English. To achieve this, conversations were recorded from 50 students and analyzed qualitatively. Using Xudong’s combined Lumping and Splitting approaches, the types and functions of the tokens were identified. The results revealed that there are minimal tokens (single words and non-lexical vocalizations) and non-minimal tokens (phrases, clauses, premodified tokens, clusters, extended responses, collaborative finishes). The tokens were utilized as continuers, convergence and divergence markers, and as engagement markers. Based on the results, it is argued that response tokens should be seen as meaningful elements which should be employed to maintain fluency in talk-in-interaction. in","PeriodicalId":443596,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Humanities & Social Studies","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122189195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Further crippling Nigeria resource management situation is an ageing civil service and bureaucratic bottleneck at the central government which controls over 800 agencies, (Eme, Ugwu& Sam 2011 and Omofaye, 2017).Such sums the chants by political observers and analysts that the current federal structure Abstract: Restructuring has been the mainstay chorus in Nigerian politics since the emergence of the Fourth Republic in 1999. The volumes of its advocate's chants keep growing louder and louder with the coming of each new federal executive administration. It has become a screeching sound with the emergence of Buhari’s federal administration, yet this administration differs in the modality for it with its critics. Also, central to the restructuring fever in the country is the issue of resource control, which can be contexted in the language of political engagement to mean who gets what, when and how. Also, tagging along with the centrality to the resource control theme are the tripod sub-themes of resource allocation, management and utilization structures that translate national assets deployed into prudent public good delivery. Likewise, it's of note that the Nigerian political environment serves as the platform for such transactions, as the trending climate in it determines the utilitarian deployment of resources in the nation. Yet, that climate can be characterized by structural imbalances in our mode of federalism, which results from an uncanny and unsuitable mix of paper federalism, uneven revenue contribution and sharing formula, as well as disproportional control of resources amongst federating units in Nigeria. Such a structure produces an output of underutilized and wasteful expenditure of national resources. Hence, this paper took on the task of assessing the restructuring debate and its mainstay models to sieve a pathway for utilitarian resource management in Nigeria. In doing this, it zoned in on three core areas of the Nigerian structure, extrapolated four models of the restructuring debate championed by political interests, compared our federal structure with those from other polity and recommended a model for consideration. From such activities, the findings showed that the restructuring debate is nuanced with several opinion directions absent of a consciously mapped plan for implementation, yet such does not translate its agenda to irrelevance. Also, it noted that the structural rigidity of the Nigerian federation is abysmal to utilitarian resource management in Nigeria and thus the need for its recalibrated. This paper undertook as it guiding research tools, a qualitative approach staffed with literature review, observation method, comparative and descriptive analysis to arrive at its conclusion.","PeriodicalId":443596,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Humanities & Social Studies","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123487954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The outcome has been inter-ethnic conflicts and the resurgence of identity crisis. If Cameroon is African in miniature because of its ethnic diversities, then the North West Region is Cameroon in miniature because its populations came from almost all the cultural spheres of Cameroon. This paper attempts an investigation into the attractiveness of the destination for settlers, the identity crisis that emerged from the settlement of strangers and the symbiosis and apparent calm that characterise autochthon-settler relationship in the Northwest Region since Precolonial Times. Data was collected from primary and secondary sources and the qualitative method used to analyse it. The findings suggest that the region’s economic potentials, the hospitality of its indigenes and the inter-dependence between the various ethnic groups made for thelevivre ensemble that characterised the peoples. Unlike the economically advanced Southern part of Cameroon where le vivre ensemble was problematic, the Northwest region has experienced some level of integration amongst different communities probably because of the non-politicisation of identity. The Northwest Region can therefore serve as a veritable laboratory for Cameroon at this time that national unity and national integration are threatened by ethnic and other forms of sub nationalisms.","PeriodicalId":443596,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Humanities & Social Studies","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131386024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was guided by the Well-being theory by Martin Seligman. The study adopted the Ex-post-facto research design and stratified random sampling technique was used to select 367 participants from a population of 7,404 Administration Police (AP) officers while 20 key informants were purposively sampled. The study utilized both qualitative and quantitative methods in data collection. Self-administered questionnaires and an interview schedule were used to collect data. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to establish the reliability of the instruments which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.81.Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 25.0) was used in analyzing the quantitative data. Qualitative data was analyzed inductively and deductively through thematic content analysis. The study revealed that though the Administration Police Service (APS) offered counselling services to its officers, not many officers had benefitted from the programmed services therefore these services were not effective in training self-efficacy among the officers.The study established that the low uptake of the psychological counselling programme can be attributed to the fact that the program has not been decentralized to the lowest level that is the sub-county which is the lowest centres of service delivery for the APS. Secondly there were few professional counsellors within the APS, the study also revealed that the officers were reluctant to take up the programme due to the fear of being stereotyped by their colleagues. The study recommends, the strengthening of the APS Psychological Counselling programme through the employment of professional counsellors to cater for the counselling needs of the APS; sanitization of the importance of mental health that is advocacy to the police officers and infrastructural development for spaces for carrying out the psychological services and the decentralization of the psychological counselling programme up to the lowest level of service delivery for the AP officers which is the Subcounty level. work-related challenges.
