Woźniak","doi":"10.5604/01.3001.0054.1484","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5604/01.3001.0054.1484","url":null,"abstract":"The scientific basis for optimizing the use of work resources of 35 mm anti-aircraft gun barrels, enabling their durability to be increased by 25÷100% while improving operational efficiency indicators are presented in this paper. The development of a new approach to assessing the durability and effectiveness of these barrels results from current solutions and capabilities of navigation and targeting systems, new generation projectiles (programmable ammunition with sub-projectiles) and real-time muzzle velocity measurement applications (while main-taining or even increasing the current muzzle velocity and rate of fire). This increases the probability of hitting floating, coastal and flying targets (especially UAVs and RAM). It has been shown that the durability and operational assessment of this class of guns (including economic efficiency) is not determined only by indicators based on the rate of fire, muzzle velocity or second burst of fire. What is now more important is the ability to reduce the rate of barrel destructive processes, resulting from the possibility of shortening the length of firing series. It has been shown that with short series, the barrels wear and the intensity of damage to the reload mechanisms are significantly reduced. Additive manufacturing is expanding into more and more industries, from very small and high-precision components production in biomedical engineering to the manufacture of rocket modules in the aerospace industry. The possibilities of using additive manufacturing technology in the defence industry are also being considered, where printing techniques are being developed, including not only the production of equipment elements, but also direct printing of explosives. The article presents the current level of knowledge on 3D printing of explosives. In addition, the most frequently used techniques of additive manufacturing and their practical application by various research and development facilities were presented. The contaminations are challenging for specialised laboratories dealing with their detection and identification of sources of origin. Unfortunately, such contaminations have a serious influence into the human health causing for instance significant injuries of human systems and organs, and long term problems with the health such as cancer diseases and other serious health disturbances. Therefore, it is important to focus attention on these threats, and to do everything possible to prevent their appearance and minimise the harmful effects. A low concentration of tested agent, below the instrument detection threshold, is a frequent problem at investigations of ecosystems. In such cases biomarkers of cumulation prove to be very helpful. Biomarkers can be a perfect tool for detection of contaminations in the flowing water and in the ground. They can be used to establish the presence of specific chemical agents and at the same time they are a sensitive indicator of ecosystems reaction to the contamination. A universal method was developed basing on the liquid chromatography for analysis of trotyl and its derivatives present in larvae of caddisflies from species of Hydropsyche angustipennis, Curtis 1834, and in the samples of soil, or in other complex matrixes. The chromatographic method can label quantitively and qualitatively different derivatives of trotyl, such as 2,6-diamino-4-nitrotoluene, 2,4-dia-mino-6-nitrotoluene, 1,3,5-trinitrobenzen, trinitrotoluene, 2-amino-4,6-dinitrotoluen, 4-amino-2,6-dinitrotoluen, and tetryl in a complex biologic matrix. Additionally, an effect was investigated of trotyl cumulation within 1 to 24 hours in the tissue of caddisfly larvae subjected to exposition of tested solutions contained trotyl. An effect of saturation was noticed and the concentration of trotyl derivatives was measured. In typical barrel steels, e.g.30HN2MFA, a structural transformation occurs at about 730 , at which material shrinkage occurs. The way to increase the durability of the barrels is to change the steel grade to one in which this transformation does not occur or does occur, but at higher temperatures. The paper presents the results of experimental studies of all the above-mentioned thermophysical properties of five selected barrel steels, i.e. 38HMJ, 30HN2MFA, DUPLEX 2205, WCL and MARAGING 350. Measurements were made in the range from room temperature to about 1100 C. In 2017, several institutions were established to modernize and integrate several hundred dispersed European defense companies and equip them with competitive technologies. The European Defense Fund and the Coordinated Annual Review on Defense (CARD) play an important role in this area. In 2022, integration processes in the field of defense were accelerated due to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, as well as after the adoption of a new European Union security strategy called the Strategic Compass. On the other hand, an analytical solution of the system of nonlinear differential equations describing the phases of the phenomenon of a shot in a gun barrel does not exist. Therefore, in order to obtain more accurate solutions to the system of equations, it is worth to use numerical methods. The paper presents a theoretical description of the problem based on a review of analytical and numerical models solving the main problem of internal ballistics. Based on this analysis, it was assumed that a possible direction of development is to implement several models to solve the main problem of internal ballistics in numerical solution, so that the end user (designer) can choose different models and check which model works best in his conditions. In addition, using optimization techniques, an attempt can be made to implement algorithms that would be able to search for example, the smallest powder weight value at specific powder parameters and at given maximum pressure and projectile muzzle velocity. Potential of forces and assets being at the disposal of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and the level of their readiness indicate on significant meaning of the national defence sector for assisting the states internal security by an active participation in crisis reactions (Michailiuk, Stpie, Denysiuk, 2016). Unfortunately, the national defence sector crisis management system has faced the second serious change for recent 10 years, and this time during the war in Ukraine. A quite legible division can be observed between the Command of Territorial Defence Troops and the Operational Headquarter of Armed Forces Services on the area of assignments protecting the population against the effects of natural disasters or technical failures in the first case, and on the area of assignments aimed to assist the services in keeping the internal security, including counteractions against terroristic threats, and ending on counteracting the military threats in the second case, what is presented in the paper. Unfortunately, it is not a holistic approach from the scientific point of view, and it also is not in line with the wordings of the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Poland from 2020.
