As one of the scholars of the hadramain who played an important role in the development of islamic education in the eastern region of Indonesia, It is important to understand how the thinking and role of sayyid, the iraniacal bin salim aljufri, especially in the tower of the thousand churches, the city of manado. When Indonesia is beset by two themes of political persecution, fierce debate over islamic relations and countries between \"secular\" and religious nationalists, and the struggle between the hadrami of loyalty and integrity against the land between Indonesia or hadramaut. As one of the scholars of hadrami in the eastern region of Indonesia (kti), the old teacher did not get caught up in the political ideology of the political ideology, focusing on the movement: education, the preaching work, and the social empowerment, to the establishing of an alkhairaat islamic college in 1930. In 1934, the old master sent one of his disciples, muhammad qasim maragau for the preaching of the manado. In 1947 the official alkhairaat opened a branch in the town of manado, north sulawesi, to the rest of the istiqlal (Arab village), the following year in 1960 became a boarding school. From 1960 to 1996 the number of islamic islamic educational institutions of alkhairaate in sulut including manado steadily rises up to 167 branches, 2 of which is a boarding school located in the city of manado.Keywords:Guru Tua, Alkhairaat,Thought, role, Manado Abstrak. Sebagai salah satu ulama hadramain yang berperan penting terhadap perkembangan pendidikan Islam di Kawasan Timur Indonesia, penting kiranya untuk memahami bagaimana pemikiran dan peran Sayyid Idrus bin Salim Aljufri khususnya di wilayah Menara Seribu Gereja, Kota Manado. Ketika Indonesia dilanda oleh dua tema diskursus politik yang terjadi, yaitu perdebatan sengit tentang hubungan Islam dan negara antara kaum nasionalis “sekuler” dan nasionalis religious, dan pergumulan di kalangan Hadrami tentang loyalitas dan integritas terhadap tanah air antara Indonesia atau Hadramaut. Sebagai salah ulama Hadrami di wilayah Kawasan Timur Indonesia (KTI), Guru Tua tidak terjebak pada perdebatan ideologi politik tersebut, justru memfokuskan diri pada gerakan: pendidikan, dakwah, dan pemberdayaan sosial, hingga mendirikan sebuah perguruan Islam Alkhairaat pada tahun 1930. Pada tahun 1934, Guru Tua kemudian mengutus salah seorang muridnya, Muhammad Qasim Maragau untuk berdakwah ke Manado.Pada tahun 1947, Alkhairaat resmi membuka cabang di Kota Manado, Sulawesi Utara, tepatnya di Kelurahan Istiqlal (kampung Arab), yang selanjutnya pada tahun 1960 berkembang menjadi sebuah pondok pesantren. However, along with the increasing number of educated people, these goals have not yet been reached. There is no consistency between acquired knowledge and human behavior. One of reason for emergence this problem is increasingly pracmatic and material educational orientation. So that, the character of education is become a serious problem. This problem is not much different from the reality of education in classical times. On this basis, one of muslim scholars namely al-Zarnuji, wrote a book about the method of learning to gain useful knowledge. The method offered by al-Zarnuji contains of technical learning dan athicak matters in studying. Then, to achieve eductional goals, students must carry out the good deed since the learning process.Keyword: Ethics and manners of learning, al-Zarnuji, Ta’lim Muta’allim Abstrak, Tujuan pendidikan semata-mata bukan hanya untuk meningkatkan intelektual manusia, tetapi juga memperbaiki perilaku mereka. Akan tetapi, seiring semakin bertambahnya manusia yang terdidik, tujuan pendidikan ini masih belum tercapai. Singkatnya, tidak ada kesinambungan antara pengetahuan yang didapat dengan perilaku manusia. Salah satu sebab munculnya masalah ini diantaranya adalah orientasi pendidikan yang semakin pragmatis dan materiil. Dalam proses menuntut ilmu manusia digiring untuk fokus pada pencapain-pencapain yang akan didapatkan ketika mereka menempuh proses pendidikan. Sehingga pendidikan budi pekerti semakin terlewatkan dan merupakan permasalahan serius dalam bidang pendidikan sekarang ini. Permasalahan yang ada dalam bidang pendidikan tersebut ternyata tidak jauh berbeda dengan realitas pendidikan di zaman klasik. Atas dasar ini, salah satu ulama’ yang hidup pada abad 12 M, yaitu al-Zarnuji menulis sebuah kitan berjudul Ta’lim Muta’allim, yang berisi metode belajar agar pelajar berhasil meraih kemanfaatan ilmu. Metode belajar yang ditawarkan al-Zarnuji tidak hanya berisi hal-hal teknis seperti giat belajar dengan mengulangi pelajaran, berdiskusi, menganalisis dan mencatat. Al-Zarnuji sangat menekankan etika dan adab menuntut ilmu, seperti menjaga diri, tidak tamak pada dunia, tawadhu’ dan wara’. Teachers as future human resource cadres are required to be total in carrying out their professional duties. Entering the era of digital technology revolution where experiencing various forms of change and shifting point of view, teacher competencies need to be questioned, first, are the core competencies of teachers outlined in competencies based on education levels and based on these subjects already representing the direction of education in the 21st century ?, second, how teacher readiness to welcome learning in this digital era? This literature review shows that teacher competence can be said to have represented the direction of education in the 21st century but still needs encouragement and stabilization of direction, while teacher readiness can be said to need further research for data accuracy. Guru sebagai sosok pengkader sumber daya manusia masa depan dituntut untuk total dalam menajalankan tugas keprofesiannya. Memasuki era revolusi teknologi digital yang mana mengalami berbagai bentuk perubahan maupun pergeseran sudut pandang maka kompetensi guru perlu dipertanyakan, pertama, apakah kompetensi inti guru yang dijabarkan dalam kompetensi berdasarkan jenjang pendidikan dan berdasarkan mata pelajaran tersebut sudah mewakili arah pendidikan Abad ke-21?,kedua, bagaimana kesiapan guru dalam menyambut pembelajaran di era digital ini?. kajian literatur ini menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi guru dapat dikatakan sudah mewakili arah pendidikan Abad ke-21 namun tetap saja perlu dorongan dan pemantapan arah, sedangkan kesiapan guru dapat dikatakan perlu penelitian lebih lanjut untuk akurasi data. The majority of them are the schools with fairly expensive fees. They use taḥfīẓ al-qur’ān program to attract market interest. So there is an indication that the schools are commercializing education if they use taḥfīẓ al-Qur’ān program only to get many students. In other hand quality education requires high costs. So that not always high cost schools can be categorized as commercialization only if the financing is used to facilitate the fluency of teaching-learning process, developing infrastructure and procurement of media that support the implementation of quality education. In the context of schools with taḥfīẓ al-qur’ān program, there are several benchmarks to determine wheter commercialization has occured or not. First, measured from quality of reciting Qur’an of students, the fluency, tajwīd and makhrāj al-ḥurūf. Second, measured from quality of memorizing Qur’an of students. Third, measured from memorized quantity that has been targeted. In order taḥfīẓ al-qur’ān to become quality program and not to commercialize, the steps that must be taken are to introduce Al-Qur’an, teach love to the Qur’an, teach adab in memorizing Qur’an and teach the values contained in the Qur’an. While what should be avoided is prioritizing memorization quantity by ignoring the quality of reciting Qur’an, tajwīd and makhrāj al-ḥurūf and prioritizing adding memorization by ignoring repetition. Both will cause taḥfīẓ al-qur’ān program to be contra-produtive and lack from Islamic education values and only burden the students.Keywords: taḥfīẓ program, taḥfīẓ al-qur’ān and Education commercializationAbstrak., Seiring berkembangnya tren menghafal Al-Qur’an di masyarakat Muslim Indonesia, kini program taḥfīẓ al-Qur’ān telah masuk dan menjadi program unggulan di sekolah-sekolah formal khususnya sekolah-sekolah Islam swasta. Sekolah-sekolah tersebut mayoritas adalah sekolah dengan biaya pendidikan yang cukup mahal. Mereka menggunakan program taḥfīẓ al-Qur’ān untuk menarik minat pasar. Sehingga ada indikasi sekolah-sekolah tersebut melakukan komersialisai pendidikan jika manfaatkan program taḥfīẓ al-Qur’ān hanya untuk mendapatkan banyak murid. Di sisi lain pendidikan berkualitas membutuhkan biaya yang tinggi. Sehingga tidak selalu sekolah dengan biaya yang tinggi bisa dikategorikan sebagai komersialisasi hanya jika pembiayaan tersebut digunakan untuk menfasilitasi kelancaran proses belajar-mengajar, pembangunan infrastuktur dan pengadaan media yang menunjang terselenggaranya pendidikan yang berkualitas. Dalam konteks sekolah dengan program taḥfīẓ Al-Qur’ān maka beberapa tolok ukur untuk mengetahui terjadi tidaknya komersialisasi. Jerome Seymour Bruner, a linguist, describes his language thinking through instrumentalism. Therefore this study attempts to look at the concept of learning Arabic from the perspective of Bruner's instrumentalism which includes how the concept of Bruner's language instrumentalism and how relevant Bruner's instrumentalism is in learning Arabic. This qualitative research model with literature review uses philosophical, historical and psycholingu-isttic approaches with critical analytical descriptive methods. The result is the first theory of ins-trumentalism Bruner states that language is a tool for communication. Both concepts of Bruner's instrumentalism theory have quite strong relevance to contextual language learning. KEYWORDS: Bruner, Instrumentalism, Arabic Language, Learning and Relevance ABSTRAKSI: Persoalan berbahasa sampai saat ini selalu berada pada tiga aspek yaitu linguis-tik, metodologis dan sosiologis. Jerome Seymour Bruner seorang ahli bahasa menguraikan pe-mikiran bahasanya melalui teori instrumentalisme. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini berupaya me-lihat konsep pembelajaran bahasa Arab dari kacamata instrumentalisme Bruner yang meliputi bagaimana konsep instrumentalisme bahasa Bruner dan bagaiman relevansi teori instrumen-talisme Bruner dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab. Model penelitian kualitatif dengan kajian pus-taka ini menggunakan pendekatan filosofis, historis dan psikolinguistik dengan metode deskriptif analitis kritis. Hasilnya adalah pertama teori instrumentalisme Bruner menyatakan bahwa ba-hasa merupakan alat untuk berkomunikasi. Kedua konsep teori instrumentalisme Bruner me-miliki relevansi yang cukup kuat dengan pembelajaran bahasa kontekstual.
