As the usage of mobile devices becomes pervasive and convenient, the e-commerce through mobile devices is an emerging field. However, most of e-commerce systems do not only support privacy rights for user but also the rights for the merchant provider. A collection and processing of personal data may lead to private and family life violation, thus discouraging the public against the usage of new technologies. In this paper, we propose the enhanced-privacy m-commerce schemes, which are based on the e-commerce model using the GSM user authentication protocol.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126782718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These information resources include not only the data on the Web but also Web portals which offer users services such as flight ticket booking. Internet users demand integrated access to all information resources available on the Web; so both the services and the Web data have to be incorporated in integration efforts. Most of the known integration approaches ignore the services and operational aspects offered by Web portals, moreover, they are mostly ad hoc and hardly customized solutions. This paper tries to tackle the above problem proposing a service-oriented architecture for Web data and service integration. Firstly, it proposes a service-oriented platform-independent architecture, and, secondly, it presents a specific deployment of such architecture for data and service integration on the Web using semantic Web services implemented with the WSMO (Web services modeling ontology).","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127925492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dynamic business requirements, interoperability with operations support systems implemented on disparate platforms, and requirements to interact with network elements using a wide range of protocols are the current market drivers in the NMS space. This has necessitated the need for an agile, flexible and loosely coupled network management framework. We propose the EDSOA approach which fulfil these requirements and also provide for a gradual evolution of the network management platform with the addition of management services as the need arises for them.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132613691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among other approaches, the service-oriented architecture (SOA) has emerged as a prominent candidate to ensure the resulting business integration in a flexible, simple and technology-agnostic manor. A service is defined as a particular business unit of work or IT unit of system that is accessible by independent users and systems through a standardized interface. Therefore, business functions and IT systems are refactored to meet the requirements of SOA. As a result, business integration is modeled as a composition of atomic or composite business services and IT services. However, with their very nature, the results of using a business or IT service can be non-deterministic, i.e., one can't predict ahead of time the outcomes of invoking a business or IT service. For instance, a business service might provide a result short of the original expectation, which would require the use of another business service to compensate for the shortfalls. Consequently, the service composition model should also take the stochastic aspect into consideration. In this paper, we are going to propose a stochastic service composition model for business integration. This model extends the existing service composition model to take the stochastic aspect of the services into explicit consideration. We discuss the structure and potential usage of such a model. We then provide an example to illustrate how a stochastic service composition model can be utilized in a real-world setting for business integration.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128950403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Management of user accounts for all possible clients in each provider is simply unfeasible. The alternative approach to having federated identity management is currently being developed by main software vendors. In this paper we present the design and implementation of a lightweight security infrastructure, for the federated security, that enable the establishment of a trust federation between several organizations. The infrastructure consists of an augmented security layer placed on top of the Web service protocol. The solution utilizes the latest WS-security specifications and, at the infrastructure level, is compatible with Shibboleth - a federated security solution for Web resources. In order to illustrate the potential of the infrastructure, we describe it in the context of two case studies: an object repository with complex access policies and the connection with the authenticated P2P network for learning resources.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127310168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Web services (WS) enable distributed access and discovery of internal, enterprise functions and services over the Web, in a secure controlled environment. Yet, high level modeling, design and querying techniques proves to be a challenging task for organizations that are hoping to utilize the SW paradigm for their industrial and WS applications. Conversely both, SW and WS paradigm can benefit, if some of the traditional database concepts, functionalities and models are made adoptable to the new SW/WS paradigm. To address one such issue, in this paper, we propose a view model for semantic Web that can be utilized in the new Web information system framework, the SW/WS. First we outline our view model and then briefly provide discussion on its properties and some modeling issues with the help of an industrial case study example.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130685165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since conversational agents analyze the user's query based on a static process, it cannot manage complex expressions. In this paper, we propose semantic Bayesian networks that infer the user's intention based on Bayesian networks and their semantic information representing the relationship among nodes. Since conversation often contains ambiguous expressions, managing the context or the uncertainty should be necessary to support flexible conversational agents. The proposed method drives the mixed initiative interaction (MII) that prompts for missing concepts and clarifies for spurious concepts to understand the user's intention correctly. Actually implementing a Web information guide with the proposed method, we have confirmed the usefulness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":433802,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP'05)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-08-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134045966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most engineers are building the ontologies based on their academic background and research interests. Consequently, ontologies on the same subject are different because the ontology engineers have different view point. Furthermore, there is no standard method for building ontologies, and there are many ontology tools using different ontology languages. Because of these reasons, interoperability between the ontologies is very low. And, current ontology tools mostly concentrate on the functions to create, edit, inference the ontology. Methods for merging heterogeneous domain ontologies are not in most tools. This paper presents a study on a merging method for building a more complete ontology. The method was based on WordNet.
