The analysis of the presuppositional component of linguistic units expressed by various lexico-semantic means contributes to the identification of extralinguistic information in the text. The aim of the research is to determine the linguocultural potential of presupposition in the text based on the analysis of the features of lexical units and their contextual relations reflecting the specifics of culturally relevant elements in Daniel Kehlmann’s novel “Tyll”. The scientific originality of the research lies in applying the theory of presupposition to the linguistic modelling of the cultural space of a literary text. The research findings showed that the presupposition of culture-specific lexical units contextually interacts with other intra- and inter-lexical means and participates in the formation of a model of the cultural space of the text as a hierarchically structured system of culturally contingent meanings. A. Bunin’s literary texts. The aim of the research is to describe real and mythological proper names that explicate the toponymic worldview of the East in the writer’s prose. The paper analyses semantic groups of toponyms as the text-forming units of a literary work, examines their functional potential. 22 subgroups of real onyms (macrotoponyms, choronyms, oeconyms, urbanonyms, hydronyms, ecclesionyms, etc.) and 5 subgroups of unreal ones (mythological macrotoponyms, mythological astionyms, mythological drymonyms, mythological choronyms and mythological oronyms) were identified; cases of contextual synonymy and antonymy at the level of the author’s individual onomasticon were noted. The research is original in that it is the first to systematise the onyms involved in the modelling of the toponymic worldview of the Orientalist Bunin and to identify the characteristic features of this worldview. As a result of the research, it has been proved that the toponymic worldview of the East in I. A. The scientific novelty of the study lies in examining in a comparative manner the nation-specific techniques of the structural organisation of the expressive syntactic construction the purpose of which is to foreground the subject or the predicate. The paper describes the rules for constructing a stylistically neutral declarative sentence in each language under consideration, which directly affect the functioning of inversion. The work shows that in Chuvash and English, unlike Russian, the foregrounding of one sentence part can occur due to the inversion of another. Examples of the structural and grammatical organisation of inverted sentences in each language are given. As a result, it was determined that the stricter the word order in a sentence is, the more additional ways of having expressive influence on the addressee by means of stylistic inversion there are in a language. The paper analyses the theoretical and practical works devoted to studying the device of an unreliable narrator, gives its definitions and types. Based on this information, as well as the analysis of English-language literary works, the author identifies the types of unreliable narrators. The reasons for their unreliability may be the following: young age, mental problems, traumatic experience and unnatural origin. The scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that the analysis of the selected works with unusual protagonists makes it possible to create a typology of unreliable narrators new to literary studies. It is important to note that almost all of the narrators are characterised by unintentional distortion or concealment of information. In addition, some of the works selected for analysis have not been studied or remain little studied. The research results in a list of the main types of unreliable narrators, which is based on the reasons for their unreliability. The work uses a set of methods of linguistic analysis. The scientific novelty of the research lies in analysing evaluative components in the semantic structures of the pair of antonyms “life” – “death”, namely, in describing asymmetry and symmetry in the pragmatic macro-component of the meaning of these words: asymmetry manifests itself in the direction of pragmatic evaluation of the phenomena denoted by the words “life” and “death”, the former is correlated with something very good, goodness, the latter is correlated with something very bad, evil, misfortune; symmetrical linguistic behaviour is manifested in both lexemes in the derived values with the semantics of common evaluation and in the derived values that determine that life and death are the object of regular evaluation. In addition, the paper is the first to demonstrate that a certain ratio of positive and negative semes in the meaning of these lexemes marks the type of discourse (everyday, religious-philosophical, art criticism, artistic). As a result, it has been proved that not only the individual connotations of a word affect the development of its semantic structure, but also the pragmatic components of one lexeme from a pair of antonyms have an impact on the semantic variability of the other. Variants of incorrect interpretation are based on the use of loan translation and the incorrect meanings of lexical units – “false friends”. The aim of the research is to systematise the most frequent pseudo-international words related to financial and economic vocabulary by parts of speech based on the information received from students, as well as to identify typical errors, the study of which could further improve the quality of text translation. The classification of “false friends” presented in the paper made it possible to identify four parts of speech characteristic of pseudo-international words of economic subjects arranged in descending order of the number of incorrectly translated words: nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. The scientific novelty of the work lies in taking a comprehensive approach to the problems of “false friends” translation and classification of pseudo-international words of economic subjects not only by their lexical meaning, but also by the grammatical classes of parts of speech. The linguistically relevant research findings amount to identifying the parts of speech of pseudo-international words that cause the greatest difficulties in translation. The study is novel in that it is the first to analyze the transformations of lexical units involving the material of the instructions for the use of such modern immunomodulators as Keytruda and Zelboraf. The empirical study of the original instructions in English and their translations into Russian revealed the most frequent models of lexical transformations that ensure adequate perception of semantic information by the ultimate user of the corresponding drug. The research findings showed that the names of the drugs and active substances are subjected to transcription and transliteration; particularization is employed due to the need to clarify the area of denotation of English verbs of broad semantics; generalization is explained by the tendency to use generalized nouns (medication, medicinal product). The scientific novelty of the study lies in identifying the substitution of the prepositional infinitive phrase in the active voice by the passive attributive infinitive and in detecting the ellipsis of the preposition ‘for’ with the noun phrase in the for-to-infinitive construction with the active infinitive expressing passive relations. As a result, the researcher identified possible words in the prepositional infinitive phrase in the active voice replaced by the passive attributive infinitive: ‘for everybody’ / ‘for no matter who’ / ‘for all persons in general’ / ‘for anybody who is going to (wants)’ / ‘for anybody’ + to + the active infinitive. In addition, the explicates for the ellipted ‘for’ with the noun phrase in the for-to-infinitive construction were also identified: ‘for the one/ones in question’, ‘for the one/ones concerned’, ‘for the one/ones involved’. The use of the attributive infinitive expressing passive relations was systematised. It should be noted that in modern extralinguistic conditions, this value is discussed by many scientists, but its real content has not been determined. In the study, the data from Russian and German explanatory dictionaries, in which the invariant of the meaning of the word representing the basic value of the same name is given, are compared with the data obtained as a result of a 2023 free association experiment involving the bearers of German and Russian linguocultures. The scientific novelty of the research lies in developing a methodology for verbal detection of the content of a basic value, as well as in establishing similarities in the content of the basic value PEACE in German and Russian linguocultures by experimental means, which undoubtedly indicates the universality of the value under consideration. As a result, it has been proved that the content of the basic value PEACE in German and Russian linguocultures is similar. This may suggest the closeness of Germans’ and Russians’ worldview and ways of world cognition, as well as the fact that the PEACE value is perceived by the representatives of Russian and German linguocultures as a basic value. The paper considers the functioning of the English lexeme “fashion” and its combinations in the receiving (Russian) language, its multilevel entry, describes the structural characteristics, suggests a thematic description. The scientific novelty of the work lies in taking a comprehensive approach to the study of the peculiarities of the English lexeme “fashion” in the modern Russian language based on the linguistic digital material of the Internet. As a result of the research, 144 English-language borrowed units with the key component “fashion” were detected, 14 thematic subgroups of the English borrowings were identified; such thematic subgroups as “Education”, “Business”, “Professions and positions”, “Professional products of activity” were highlighted.
