The setup operations are performed by one available server. We propose two mixed integer programming (MIP) formulations to solve optimally this problem. The performance of each model is compared with another MIP proposed in the literature. It turns out that our formulation based on time-indexed variables outperforms the other models.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134144369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The task to “evaluate how much a UAV path is in collision with the terrain” is particularly crucial for path planners that are optimizing random generated paths. This terrain collision evaluation task can be computationally demanding and its computation time depends on the environment representation used. This paper presents a Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) based design of a UAV terrain collision evaluator that evaluates in parallel segments of the path in real-time. Its worst case computation time has a fixed upper bounded, based on the size of the map. For a 500×500 grid map, this upper bound is 1.9 μs, which is a promising result for future UAV real-time path planners.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127145221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article presents two combined optimization techniques; the first optimization introduces a proposed sizing optimization for a hybrid system under smart grid by dividing the loads into three categories: high priority load (must be always supplied), others with a medium priority, and low priority load (can be supplied when the production is available at some levels). The second technique optimizes the cost of the hybrid system by connecting a minimum number of panels necessary to cover the energy need of the high priority load; on the other side, it connects the number of batteries required so as not to have a lack of energies during the night, and this in function of sunset time of each season.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128420062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Educational institutions are among these buildings, due to their new practices and activities such as the use of electrical equipment, the implementation of complex scientific experiments, and the organization of big events in various domains. So, reliable energy forecasting system is required to manage future electrical budgets. The National School of Applied Sciences of El Jadida — Morocco has decided to change its energy policy, by installing a private smart grid based on photovoltaic panels that will cover 40% of its electricity needs, encourage local production and increase the share of renewable energies. According to the high level of complexity that smart grid data management presents due to the growth of data volumes coupled with the variety of data types and formats, the integration of Big Data technology is also required to resolve immoderate electricity consumption's forecast. In this paper, we suggest a Big Data based solution in term of data selection, integration and storage. In the first place, we select all factors that might have impact on electrical consumption (temperature, solar radiation, relative humidity, wind speed, equipment electrical features and occupancy schedule), then we propose a storage data model using HBase.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125883417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The basic array antenna is designed on FR-4 substrate and we have used microstrip technique as feeding. This antenna is based on 8 patches operating at frequency 3GHz. This structure has two disadvantages; a low gain value caused by the lossy nature of substrate and a narrow bandwidth by dint of microstrip antenna limitations. Thus, the objective of this work is to improve the gain and the bandwidth of the basic structure. For this reason, two techniques will be presented and compared in this paper: Parasitic patches and multilayer techniques. The first one consists on adding a number of parasitic patches, two different ways of parasitic patches dispositions are proposed. The distance between driven and parasitic patches is evaluated. Regarding the second technique, a layer of FR-4 is added to the substrate distanced with air gap which thickness is 0.04xAg. The design and the simulation will be performed using Advanced Design System (ADS) tool. Not only the comparison between basic array antenna and both techniques will be presented, but also the comparison results between simulations of both modified structures using the previous techniques will be performed.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122259489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The constraint of channel conditions can induce unequal spectral efficiency typically for users, which suffer path losses. However, for such a constraint, an inequality in terms of throughput fairness and delay are observed. In order to solve this problem, we propose in this paper to use the Schedulers algorithm based on Proportional Fair (PF), which introduces compensation with the Signal Interference Noise Ratio (SINR). The results obtained show by the approach proposed in this case achieved us to provide an optimal solution for the allocation of resources in the OFDM multi-carrier system. This distribution of resources leads to a compromise between throughput and fairness in relation to schedulers and jointly provides a high throughput.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"06 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129615482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system is modeled using Euler Lagrange formulation considering both the dynamics. And due to the absence of sensors, that can measure states at the ball joints, we propose to use a vision system that will be placed over the Quadrotor in order to determinate the position of the pendulum. For the nonlinear control design, a three-level cascade strategy is proposed. Each level of the cascade system executes a control law designed through the method of backstepping. Simulation results are carried out to corroborate the proposed control strategy using Matlab/Simulink and the Virtual Reality Environment.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"318 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122323049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
