The control strategy is applied to extract the full power output from the hydraulic turbine through a DC/DC boost converter connected to the generator by an uncontrolled three phase rectifier. This control method consists of two cascaded loops, a fast inner loop of DC inductor current, gives the instantaneous duty ratio d to the boost converter switch. The second outer speed loop controls the generator speed to balance well the power flow into the grid. Concerning the control strategy of the DC/AC converter grid side, the three levels NPC inverter controls the DC link voltage and injected active/reactive powers by the (d, q)-axis currents respectively. The reactive power generated by the entire installation is adjusted at zero so that unity power factor is maintained. Simulation results show that the suggested control strategy method and system modeling operate satisfactorily.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"282 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127392277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently this approach is introduced in the physical implementation to help for more power reduction. In this paper, we will present the MBFF merging challenges in the physical design process, then we will recommend the optimal stage to perform the flip-flops merging, within the Pre-CTS (Clock-tree Synthesis) step. The success criteria is to achieve the highest MBFF percentage without degrading the circuit performance. The experiments on a high-speed design, made with 7nm technology node, shows that the best stage for the MBFF merging is after the final detailed placement and timing optimization. The percentage of multi-bit flip-flop cells compared to all flip-flop cells achieved is 75.8% with a no performance degradation.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"47 7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123271196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has become crucial for Moroccan construction practitioners to seek creative approach and to look for new ways of thinking in order to resist to the increasing competition and to survive with market constraints, especially when compared to the significant improvements achieved in the Moroccan manufacturing industry. Lean Construction (LC) is a very effective approach to design production systems for the purpose of reducing waste of time, of materials, and effort as well as generating the maximum possible amount of value. Lean construction has been introduced into the Moroccan construction industry; however, it is still in its infancy. Based on a structured questionnaire survey, this article aims to evaluate the perceptions of the Moroccan construction professionals on the Lean Construction implementation in the Moroccan construction industry. To achieve this objective, a total of 330 responses were collected and then analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS V20.0 for Windows). The following conclusions were made, more than half of the respondents (172 professional; 52.1%) think that Lean Construction approach is adapted to any size of Moroccan companies; the respondents agreed that Lean Construction implementation would add positive impacts to the Moroccan construction projects (with an overall mean value of 3.84); LC is a high priority for the Moroccan construction projects (with an overall mean value of 3.84).","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115884745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, some IC foundries have enabled the 7nm node for mass production and have seduced many industries to target this technology for their future devices. This market trend has brought many challenges for EDA vendors and physical design and verification specialists since they need to account for many new physical constraints and design rules in order to meet the foundry requirements. On the other side, 7nm node came with new opportunities and advantages that did not exist in earlier design nodes. In this paper, we will use one of these benefits while exploring the low power clock routing problem to achieve better clock power reduction without impacting the circuit timing or area. Our approach takes advantage of the big resistivity differences between SADP and Non-SADP layer to reduce the overall clock parasitic load to be balanced by the clock driver, which will reduce the number of inverters and buffers needed to drive all clock leaf cells, and by consequence, results in an important clock power reduction. By applying our new clock routing approach on a real 7nm testcase using Nitro-SoC place and route tool of Mentor Graphics, we achieved an improvement of 14.7% in clock nets power, 4% in clock cells power, a timing improvement of 1.7% in TNS, and 9.8% in WNS, with better utilization and less total wirelength.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"647 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122696633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general the wake interferences created by upstream systems influence the quality of power produced by downstream turbines. In this spirit, this paper presents an optimization approach in preliminary design phase that looks for an optimal location of wind turbines that extremize the power generated with low active power losses due to wake effect. Therefore an area with nine similar wind turbines (3 lines and 3 columns) is proposed as a case study. The power losses are quantified using a standard analytical wake model. The optimal arrangement is based on criteria (total power produced and wind velocity deficit) as a function of crucial design variables (inter-space between turbines and rows). Results and discussions show that power production is significantly decreases when turbines operate in low distance where wake interactions level is very important. This degradation can be avoided if downstream turbines are displaced from upstream ones. In addition this study proves that the important effect of low variation of wind direction can be reduced if perpendicular space is large.","PeriodicalId":433166,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Optimization and Applications (ICOA)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132353316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
