This study aims to determine the handling of cases of yolk binding in Python reticulatus. A 3-month-old female Python reticulatus was brought by the owner to the vet with complaints of not defecating after ten days from the last feeding on and the presence of a ¼ lump from the caudal. The results of the stool examination showed the number of protozoa. The x-ray results, show the air-filled medial with radiolucent color intensity and a mass with radioopaque color intensity. Based on the signals, history, physical examination, and investigations, a diagnosis of yolk binding was obtained. The treatment given is surgery, drug therapy, and post-operative care. After being brought home, five days after surgery snake died.","PeriodicalId":432813,"journal":{"name":"Veterinary Biomedical and Clinical Journal","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116467484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Apart from normal flora, there are also pathogenic strains of the E. coli bacteria that can cause disease in the hospes. The disease that can be caused by E. coli bacteria is colibacillosis which often occurs in poultry. One of the clinical symptoms that appear in chickens suffering from colibasillosis is diarrhea which can arise due to enteritis. This study aims to identify the incidence of colibacillosis and antibiotic resistance of E. coli bacteria in Free-range Chicken. Clinical symptoms showed that the animal looked weak, had diarrhea, and had feces around the cloaca. The necropsy results showed the presence of hemorrhage in the duodenum and caecum. Samples of organ swabs that experienced hemorrhage were then tested for isolation and identification of E.coli bacteria and antibiotic resistance using the Kirby-Bauer method for five types of antibiotics, penicillin, bacitracin, gentamicin, cefadroxil, and ciprofloxacin. The test results showed that the Free-range Chicken had colibacillosis. The E. coli bacteria that cause colibacillosis were resistant to penicillin and bacitracin antibiotics, intermediates to cefadroxil, and sensitive to ciprofloxacin and gentamicin.","PeriodicalId":432813,"journal":{"name":"Veterinary Biomedical and Clinical Journal","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133467543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study was to determine the therapeutic effects of dragon fruit skin extract ointment (Hylicereus costaricensis) on the area of IL-2 expression and the number of mononuclear inflammatory cells in skin tissue in open wounds of rats (Rattus norvegicus) for 6 days of treatment. As many as 20 male rats, ± 180 grams, Wistar were divided into 5 groups namely negative control, positive control, ointment of dragon fruit skin extract with concentration of 5% (P1), concentration of 10% (P2) and concentration of 15% (P3). Wound formed as dorsal skin biopsy of dorsal 1x1 cm. Ointment was given topically 2x/day for 6 days. Rats were euthanized on day 7th and the skin tissues of the wound area were collected. The number of mononuclear inflammatory cells was counted in skin slides of HE staining and Expression Area expression of IL-2 was measured by ImmunoRatio® in immunohistochemical slides. Data were analyzed statistically using One Way ANOVA and Tukey Post Hoc Test. The results showed that dragon fruit skin extract ointment was able to reduce significantly (p<0.05) for area expression of IL-2 and the number of mononuclear inflammatory cells and the best concentration of ointment for treatment was 15%. This is due to the effect of flavonoids as anti-inflammatory and vitamin C as a trigger for cell regeneration.
