In the context of historiography, the reflection on the place of this council in the history of contemporary Catholicism and the discussion about the sources and ways of capturing its reception take its first steps. We move from the concern of constructing a history of the council proper, to the later moment, that is, its reception. In addition to a hermeneutical concern linked to theological concerns, historians of the conciliar reception open new theoretical paths of analysis, but also methodological ones, seeking new ways of approaching the phenomenon. In this way, they are faced with new sources that can collaborate in their understanding. This paper has as main objective to discuss the theoretical possibility that the council takes as an object of reading on the part of certain actors, thus developing what we call conciliar culture: representations about the event constructed by certain groups and that bring their own characteristics. We develop the concept from an approach to Cultural History, particularly that developed by Roger Chartier and offer at the end of the text a brief example of how this perspective can be used, that is, in the study of theological magazines.","PeriodicalId":43247,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte-Revista de Estudos de Teologia e Ciencias da Religiao","volume":"1 1","pages":"1526-1526"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49169045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In his works, Finnis presents an innovative reconstruction of the natural law theory of Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas. Such innovation was published in 1980, under the guidance of Herbert Lionel Adolphus Hart, who was his mentor at the end of his doctorate, and who also proposed the title of the work \"Natural Law and Natural Rights\" (2011a), which was welcomed by Finnis. The first publication of this work in Brazil occurred only in 2007, by Unisinos. Finnis emphasizes in his works the probability that, through practical reason, it is possible to identify seven human goods that he himself characterizes as \"basic fundamentals\", among them \"Religion\". Such goods, according to his understanding of the natural law theory of Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas, consist of values inherent to the human being, which are, because of this, also essential for the \"human flowering\" of each individual. Thus, this dissertation proposes to analyze how the theory of natural law of John Finnis collaborates for thinking about the place of religion in the public space, in which resigns its resignification as an ethical foundation for the shaping of human rights. The analysis will be carried out by reading the author's works on this topic, mainly \"Natural Law & Natural Rights\" and \"Religion & PublicReasons\". As a general result, there is a need to ethically ground human rights on the basis of the fundamental basic human goods of John Finnis' theory of natural law. Thus, grounding Human Rights on \"Religion\", considering it in such a way, as a fundamental, basic good, it will be then, possible to think the importance of its place in the public space. As a basic human fundamental good, religion becomes understood, as determined by the author, as an essential good for the human flourishing, as well as for the common good of society as a whole.","PeriodicalId":43247,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte-Revista de Estudos de Teologia e Ciencias da Religiao","volume":"1 1","pages":"1651-1651"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43243402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Umbanda is one of the Afro-Brazilian religions and, nowadays, it is present in all over the country and even in other countries. Different authors affirm that this religion appeared in the Southeast of Brazil in the beginning of the 20th century. The religious practice called “Macumba” and associated to the Black people is thought as the Umbanda’s origin. To affirm this practice as a religion some groups tried to associate it with Spiritism and to define it as an authentic Brazilian religion. Others preferred to exalt its African heritage. This article shows the different ways chosen by those groups, in the first half of the 20th century. Therefore, it presents how the academic literature approaches the conformation of Umbanda and its legitimating process. Moreover, it analyses texts produced by the umbandistas themselves.","PeriodicalId":43247,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte-Revista de Estudos de Teologia e Ciencias da Religiao","volume":"1 1","pages":"1623-1623"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49189516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first tendency of a classical matrix rests on an essentialist view of reality. The theological batlle results in the conclusive text of Puebla and expresses the batlle for the meaning of Vatican II. Nevertheless, this hermeneutic batlle, the reception of the Third Conference will take place in a historical and liberating perspective in continuity with the consolidated tradition of the Medellin Conference. For Paul VI, The purpose of celebrating the 10th anniversary of Medellin was to translate his Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Nuntiandi to Latin America: from “evangelization in the contemporary world” to “Latin America’s evangelization in the present and in the future”. The context was very disturbed for social, economic, cultural and political reality, as well as for the religious situation. Military dictatorships, torture, death and disappearance of thousands of people, resistance guerrillas, the emergence of neoliberalism, the right and neo-pentecostalism, and the election of a pope who lived under communist persecution in Poland, this was the environment that affected the Conference. In this moment of four decades celebration of this important event, the purpose of the article is to make memory of the socio-political and ecclesial context, besides recovering out two themes that are associated with the authors research: youth and education. The method is defined as content and document analysis, so it is bibliographic in nature. The conclusions show how the dynamics of the context acted in the essay of the document. And, despite of this, it was possible to move forward in some jagged aspects - youth and education - which also presented their limitations. An important “preferential option for young people” was defined as one of the pastoral priorities, and education was defined as one of the means for communion and participation.","PeriodicalId":43247,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte-Revista de Estudos de Teologia e Ciencias da Religiao","volume":"1 1","pages":"1426-1426"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43088024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By the qualitative analysis method of the available bibliography identifies, on the one hand, socio-cultural and theological factors of pluralism that are expressions of contradiction in the understanding and experience of the Christian faith. On the other hand, it points to elements that may favor to overrun of divisions. For this it is necessary a resizing of the theological reading of the pluralism of churches seeking to verify the possibilities for a recognition of the legitimate motivations of faith, assume the demands of the dialogue and strengthen the availability to review the presuppositions of the separation of Christians. As a result, it is understood that ecclesial pluralism does not directly imply only the division of the church, but can also express distinct possibilities of faithfulness to the Gospel. Thus, the overcoming of the Christian division is not due to the cancellation of a healthy ecclesial pluralism, but by the interaction between different ecclesial traditions in the testimony of the unity of faith in Christ, \"for the world to believe\" (Jo 17,21).","PeriodicalId":43247,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte-Revista de Estudos de Teologia e Ciencias da Religiao","volume":"17 1","pages":"1544-1544"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45527223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This dissertation, aims to investigate the voluntary work as a potential achiever of the human being in his spirituality, from the theoretical referential in the perspective of Viktor Frankl. For this, the first chapter deals with Viktor Frankl's theory and its main concepts related to spirituality, such as: noetic dimension, spiritual unconscious and self-transcendence. The second chapter deals conceptually with voluntary work, together with a brief history of this reality in Brazil and, finally, the motivations that stimulate voluntary action. The third chapter seeks to associate voluntary work and spiritual attainment. For this, it develops themes such as: solidarity based on ethical principles, altruism, empathy, gratuitousness and more emphatically the attitude of love from the spiritual dimension, concluding that voluntary work based on deep love has the potential to perform the person spiritually. The methodology used is the bibliographical review, using the hermeneutic phenomenology. And it ends with the final considerations, reinforcing the idea that voluntary work is potentially fulfilling of the person in his spirituality because it is directed towards a search for meaning for life and can also be understood from the capacity that the human being has to come out of self-absorption and to look beyond oneself, toward another or a cause, understanding in this the possibilities of self-transcendence.","PeriodicalId":43247,"journal":{"name":"Horizonte-Revista de Estudos de Teologia e Ciencias da Religiao","volume":"1 1","pages":"1649-1649"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42737331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
