Children under the age of 5 do not have the motor skills to perform oral hygiene on their own.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>To design and implement an educational strategy to promote oral health in early childhood with educators and parents/guardians of children attending the community homes of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute in Santa Rosa de Cabal (Colombia) in 2019.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>Qualitative, action research design. Non-probability convenience sampling was used. Twenty-five educators and 55 parents/guardians participated. Focus groups and pedagogical workshops were the research techniques used. Thematic analysis was performed for data analysis.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>It was conducted in three phases: 1) Participants expressed that oral health is about proper hygiene. Although all were aware of caries, the caregivers did not understand it as a pathology. {"title":"[Spiritual Care Competence in Nursing: Integrative Literature ReviewCompetencia no cuidado espiritual em enfermagem: revisao integrativa da literatura].","authors":"Claudia Consuelo Torres-Contreras, Lina María Vargas-Escobar, Jorge Yecid Triana-Rodríguez, Wilson Cañon-Montañez","doi":"10.15649/cuidarte.2635","DOIUrl":"10.15649/cuidarte.2635","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Introduction: </strong>Spiritual care can be considered a basic component of the philosophy of holistic care.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>Identify intervention studies with educational perspectives and strategies for developing spiritual care competencies in nurses and nursing students.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>Integrative review of literature conducted in the period 2001-2021, in the databases PubMed, ProQuest, Scopus, LILACS, and VHL (Virtual Health Library). PRISMA statement guidelines were followed for the review, and it was based on Whittemore and Knafl's stages for integrative reviews: problem formulation, literature search, evaluation of data, data analysis, and presentation of results.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Ten published intervention articles were found. Education for the development of spiritual care competencies has been provided by educational programs and activities in undergraduate nursing programs and with professional nurses in practice. Instructional strategies include specific courses, short sessions, or programs throughout the curriculum. Interventions have an impact on skills and knowledge. Students' individual spirituality is a predictor of the competence to provide spiritual care.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>There is evidence of strategies to develop spiritual care competencies in nursing students and professionals, but publications on the subject are scarce. The NVivo software helped in the data treatment from the thematic content analysis.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>two analytical categories emerged from data analysis: Challenges of nursing daily life in COVID-19 units: complexity and demands of assistance; and Challenges of being a frontline nursing worker: unfolding in professional well-being and personal life.</p><p><strong>Discussion: </strong>it can be considered that the complexity and intensification of frontline work caused impacts that can lead nursing workers to illness. In the qualitative phase, analysis of lexical similarities and hermeneutic phenomenological analysis was carried out with six students. The quantitative phase included opinions from ten experts; CVI and arithmetic mean were calculated to assess pertinence, coherence, relevance, and clarity. The Brennan-Prediger coefficient was used for measuring agreement.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Relationships between action inducement and introspection of self-care behaviors are identified. Overall CVI was 0.96, with a mean of 3.7±0.4. Regarding agreement, the item 'specific objectives' was the one that showed a p-value of 0.054 and a coefficient of 0.37. Concerning clarity, the lowest mean (3.4±0.8) and CVI (0.8) values were observed. The remaining items have a p-value >0.05.</p><p><strong>Discussion: </strong>In validating the educational intervention by the experts, a content validity index was obtained with values higher than desirable. Particular emphasis is placed on seeking mechanisms to end all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>To recognize the meanings of forgiveness constructed by women victims of the armed conflict in Montes de María, San Onofre Sucre, as a consequence of sexual violence perpetrated by paramilitaries.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>A qualitative approach of grounded theory and symbolic interactionism was used to develop a theory based on the meanings that emerge from interactions between people and their environment.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The resulting substantive theory demonstrated the characteristics of women's experience of sexual violence, which symbolizes distress, exile, the destruction of their goals and projects, as well as the difficulty of forgiveness due to the magnitude of the harm caused, and the non-compliance with legislation that should protect women victims of such violence.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Among the meanings of sexual violence, it was found that forgiveness is difficult for these women because it is impossible to forget the act of horror committed against them. In Colombia, several changes have been made in public policy to promote the care of people with palliative needs.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>To empirically evaluate existing public policies on palliative care and their implications for the availability of services, opioids, and educational programs during the years 2010 to 2019 in Colombia.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>A mixed sequential exploratory study was designed in three phases: identification of empirical indicators of national policies, palliative care situational diagnosis, and qualitative assessment of the results of policy implementation in seven regional nodes in Colombia.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Seven standards were reviewed, yielding 12 empirical indicators for assessment, six of which had no sources of information. The national diagnosis shows a gradual increase in services and opioid use during the landmark years of policy development. Forty-four palliative care professionals perceive a positive effect of public policy on opioid use and low outcomes for service and education domains.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>There is a positive relationship between public policy and opioid use, a positive quantitative relationship with palliative care services, and a negative quantitative- qualitative relationship with educational programs. El cáncer de mama genera experiencias que alteran el bienestar psicoemocional de las mujeres, lo que promueve el desarrollo de estrategias de afrontamiento que pueden modificar la percepción de su calidad de vida y, por lo tanto, su adaptación. Objetivo. Analizar la evidencia científica disponible sobre la percepción de la calidad de vida de las mujeres durante el tratamiento del cáncer de mama y su relación con las estrategias de afrontamiento desarrolladas. Metodología. Se realizó una revisión de literatura científica publicada en español e inglés entre los años 2016 a 2022 mediante la búsqueda sistemática en bases de datos como EBSCO, Google Académico, PubMed, Scielo y ScienceDirect, utilizando los descriptores de ciencias de la salud y conectores booleanos. Se siguieron las recomendaciones de la declaración PRISMA. Resultados. Once artículos cumplieron con los criterios establecidos, se clasificaron como evidencia nivel VI, correspondiendo la mayoría a estudios cuantitativos transversales/correlacionales. Estrategias como el “espíritu de lucha” y “actitud positiva” tuvieron una correlación positiva con la calidad de vida en un nivel alto, lo que permitió adaptarse a los cambios del cáncer de mama, caso contrario con estrategias como “impotencia/desesperanza” y “preocupación ansiosa” que alteraron el bienestar emocional y funcional. Conclusión. La relación entre la percepción de la calidad de vida y las estrategias de afrontamiento desarrolladas es condicionada por experiencias del proceso salud-enfermedad y sentimientos de inutilidad por sistemas de apoyo ausentes, limitando la adaptación. Los Hábitos de Higiene Personal (HHP) de escolares dependen de sus padres, sin embargo, la crisis económica dificulta el acceso a los servicios básicos del hogar, por lo tanto, es importante determinar las causas que afectan de forma directa la salud y que aumentan los comportamientos no saludables en los escolares. Objetivo. Analizar la relación entre los HHP en escolares de una comunidad Maya con el Nivel Socioeconómico (NSE) de los padres de familia. Metodología. Estudio cuantitativo, transversal y correlacional. Se eligieron 44 binomios (padre e hijo) al azar a quienes se midió el NSE a través del instrumento de Asociación Mexicana de agencias de Inteligencia de Mercado y Opinión (AMAI) 2018, a los hijos previamente se les midió el nivel de HHP mediante la adaptación del instrumento HICORIN. Se aplicó análisis estadístico descriptivo e inferencial con la prueba no paramétrica Spearman. Resultados. El 68.2% de los padres de familia obtuvo un NSE bajo (D). No se encontró asociación entre los HHP con el NSE (p= 0.989). Conclusión. Según el AMAI, en zonas rurales prevalecen para el NSE los estratos D (34%), D+ (23%) y E (23%), congruente con este estudio que obtuvo para los estratos D=68.3% y D+=22.7%.
