However, never abandoning this tendency towards a “cinema of directors”, the british journal develops a rigorous method of formal analysis and detailed close readings . Some of its members try to apply to cinema the concepts elaborated by F. R. Leavis and the journal Scrutiny in reference to literary criticism. Here I argue that the humiliation of dignity is a good yardstick to use when we talk about the unacceptable, where the negative way towards Justice begins. For that purpose I explore the arguments of Villoro, Sen, and Nussbaum. Hofmeyr’s position is discussed, who argues that there was a paradigmatic shift between an \"early Levinas\" centred on a freedom of Kantian type, and a \"later Levinas\" focused on passivity and that transcends Kant. Our reading proposal asks about the meaning acquired by the genres chosen by the author to carry out memory and testimonial exercises. {"title":"La iglesia como aparato ideológico en las representaciones sociales de Juan Montalvo: un análisis del desenlace de su Quijote","authors":"John O´Kuinghttons Rodríguez","doi":"10.32735/s0718-2201202000050781","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.32735/s0718-2201202000050781","url":null,"abstract":"This paper aims to analyse the representation of the Church as an ideological system that can be found in the end of the only novel written by the Equadorian writer Juan Montalvo - Capitulos que se le olvidaron a Cervantes - considering that this part of the book summarizes, in a brief and synthetic way, the main orientations of his social beliefs about the constitution of  the Catholic church and its members. The analysis will be based on a contextualization of the origin of the novel and on Montalvo’s main ideological premises, according to some of his essays. Likewise, I will comment the effects that these ideological foundations carried to the conformation of the central characters of the novel. However, although there exists a transtextual dialogue with Spengler's and Toynbee’s works, our hypothesis is that the main hypertextual relationship must be searched in the work of the Greek historian Polybius, Histories . Comparing the anacyclosis described by Polybius with the political evolution that Asimov narrates in his novels, we can see that similarities not only reach different systems of government, but even the very same sequence in which they happen. However, we also argued that another effect has been the creation of new forms of resistance .
