Introducing themselves into a new cultural space, the introducers, having lost their spiritual connection with the ethnic group in their natural area, as a rule, lost their spiritual and ethno-cultural characteristics. The main characteristics in new geographical areas of the introduced species are those properties that determine the economic benefits, and when used in landscaping of populated areas - such characteristics as resistance to adverse environmental factors, resistance to diseases and pests, speed of reproduction and ease of care. Aesthetic appeal is also evaluated differently. The article considers the way of their introduction into the tradition of landscaping populated areas using the example of two plant genera - agave and lavender. It is shown that for agave the object of attention when used in landscaping is the habitus, texture, architectonics of a single plant, and for lavender the main aesthetic element is the color and linear architecture of the space of the entire cultivated field and surroundings.","PeriodicalId":432033,"journal":{"name":"Landscape architecture in the globalization era","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128977277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the dawn of civilization, plants were used by people to survive in difficult conditions, mainly for food and medical purposes. With the spiritual development of society, the emergence of philosophical and religious teachings, the expansion of botanical knowledge, they became increasingly integrated into the daily life of ethnic groups, becoming objects of worship and hoped for symbolism and imagery. Often the same plants of local flora can be found in gardens, in pharmacopoeias, and in culinary recipes. Considering the most popular plants of Chinese gardens, the authors analyze the general patterns of the use of local plants in the cultural field of various regions of China and their impact on certain branches of knowledge in other countries. The example given in the article of the spread of folk herbal medicine from one country around the world makes it possible to assess the processes of globalization taking place in the field of culture.","PeriodicalId":432033,"journal":{"name":"Landscape architecture in the globalization era","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125698965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In historical terms, this short period of time of about 155 years originates in the restoration of the imperial power of Japan after the last shogun resigned his authority to govern the country. It is characterized by high rates of industrialization of the economy, which could not but affect the development of many traditional arts, including gardening. It was during this period that Japanese traditions were imported to the countries of the Old and New World, Japanese gardens were built outside the country. At the same time, European art, technology and traditions are penetrating Japan and have a strong influence on the culture of the country. The influence of Western art led to the emergence of eclectic gardens, but brought a certain fresh stream to modern decorative gardening. The complex, but always recognizable structure and appearance of the Japanese garden are gradually giving way to simplified forms of European-American design, while outside Japan interest in Japanese gardens is not decreasing and more and more Japanese architects are building traditional Japanese gardens in other countries.","PeriodicalId":432033,"journal":{"name":"Landscape architecture in the globalization era","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128013057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For more than two centuries of history, the appearance of the garden has repeatedly changed. A significant amount of work on the development of the territory dates back to the post-war period. In the late 40s, a staircase with a cascade of pools was erected, the structure of the axis of which is built on the principle of an enfilade with adjacent spatial elements that create a through expressive perspective. The appearance of the cascade changed in the following years. The conducted historical analysis and visual full-scale surveys of the Lower Park of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden along the axis of the Cascade Staircase showed the loss of the integrity of the visual connection between the spatial elements. The article proposes the concept of restoring visual connections. The territory of the object was divided according to the compositional principle into six zones. The space includes a number of viewpoints from which an overview of various parts of the landscape is revealed, consisting of viewing platforms, vegetation, water objects and other elements connected by stairs. It is possible to restore the connections between the viewpoints of the garden and the landscapes perceived from them on this object using the methods of arboristics and arboplasty. This will significantly improve the aesthetic appearance of the space, restore its integrity and a certain solemnity inherent in the formation.","PeriodicalId":432033,"journal":{"name":"Landscape architecture in the globalization era","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126244841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We assume that this Garden has a significant value for the history of the Japanese gardens abroad, since it might be the oldest one on the territory of Imperial Russia. Japanese gardens, which has millennium-old history of religion and landscaping art, have begun their spread worldwide at the end of 19th – beginning of 20th centuries. The first examples were intended to introduce Japanese culture overseas and were connected to international events or as a part of an active cultural and political exchange between the countries’ governments 1. However, the building of the Japanese Garden at the Batumi Botanical Garden was not dedicated to any big international event. From this prospective, we can conclude that it is somehow unique in few aspects: historical, cultural and even diplomatically. Research question of the paper is: how and why the Japanese garden was built in Batumi? Our research on the Japanese Garden at the Batumi Botanical Garden will be limited due to the lack of materials on the topic. Some questions to be researched will still remain. Nonetheless, this paper is the attempt to summarize and analyze all sources on the topic available in Georgia.","PeriodicalId":432033,"journal":{"name":"Landscape architecture in the globalization era","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132864441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a time span of more than 2,300 years. The development of Japanese horticulture is considered from the point of view of its inextricable connection with political events within the country and the accompanying economic situation. The Japanese garden, as a historical and cultural phenomenon and one of the most popular trends in landscape art, has been stirring the minds of researchers in various fields of knowledge on all continents for more than 150 years. Gardens only at first glance were intended for pleasure and pleasant pastime, at the same time they carried the deepest philosophical meaning, forced the mind to work, deciphering the ancient treatises of the sages, trained the imagination. The data on the formation and development of horticultural techniques in each of the historical periods of Japan are given.","PeriodicalId":432033,"journal":{"name":"Landscape architecture in the globalization era","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130845448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The description of the special computer program \"PLANT-EST-KZ\" developed at the MIEB is given, the database of which currently includes the most complete information about 94 green devices of residential and industrial zones of 5 settlements of the Mangystau region of 13 types. The decorative significance of the signs was determined by the results of a detailed survey of plantings, during which functional zones, types of compositions, age and height of woody plants, tiering of plantings, species composition, areas under woody vegetation, flower beds, rose gardens and lawns, the number of memorable (cultural) objects were identified. A comprehensive scale for assessing the aesthetics of green devices, compiled in relation to the arid conditions of Mangystau, is proposed, taking into account 37 structural, commemorative, ecological, biological and agrotechnical characteristics of garden and park objects. A comparative analysis of the aesthetics of green devices for various functional purposes is given. The introduction of the developed program into the practice of green construction will become the basis for an objective assessment of the decorative nature of the landscaping plantings of Mangystau and the development of effective measures for the reconstruction of existing and the creation of new garden and park plantings.","PeriodicalId":432033,"journal":{"name":"Landscape architecture in the globalization era","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133936555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The bright accents of urban gardens and parks are flowering trees. However, there is a shortage of early-flowering species in the landscaping of Moscow. East Asian stone fruit species with significant winter hardiness, stable decorative properties and high resistance to diseases and pests can replenish the assortment. One of these species is the Sargent plum (Prunus sargentii Rehder), which in Moscow has proven itself as a stable and consistently decorative species. For successful introduction into culture at the first stages of introduction, it is important to determine the prospects for seed reproduction of the species, since the expediency of attempts at mass reproduction in nurseries largely depends on this. To obtain a full range of characteristics of fruits and seeds of the studied species, its morphometric parameters were determined, the individual variability of these characteristics was evaluated, as well as the germination of seeds of the first year of sowing. A number of patterns and features have been identified that allow us to recommend P. sargentii for use for breeding purposes and for introduction into culture.","PeriodicalId":432033,"journal":{"name":"Landscape architecture in the globalization era","volume":"186 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134330135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
