This study compared the port selection factors of sub-Saharan Africa in Nigeria and Uganda to China. After analyzing the collected questionnaire with a partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) model, the necessary strategies were established by comparing countries with importance-performance analysis (IPMA). First, the existing importance and analysis chart (IPMA) developed the ‘urgency index’ using the weighted average Euclidean distance and applied it to establish a strategy based on the ranking of port selection factors. This study found that the difference in evaluation by factor was clear depending on whether the port selection factor was a coastal or inland country, not a difference in economic development or port development level by country. Second, while Nigerian shippers prioritize software factors of operating characteristics, Ugandan shippers focus on more hardware port facilities or ship ports. Third, the factors of customs clearance, rapid response to customer needs, port quality, and safety and security differ significantly in the surveyed. They were representative factors that were high in importance and performance for Nigerian shippers but low in importance and performance for Ugandan shippers. However, Chinese shippers evaluated them as having high importance in terms of port quality, safety, and security factors, but their performance could have been higher. Finally, the urgency index also clearly calculated the urgency and strategic priorities, especially for factors near the boundary between the quadrants of the importance-performance matrix. The study presented the necessary implications and strategies to shipping and port companies, international institutions, trading companies, port authorities, and governments of the selected countries. Although this study evaluated the port selection characteristics of sub-Saharan shippers, it is also different from previous studies, so additional verification studies for generalization are needed to determine whether these differences are due to time differences or other causes.","PeriodicalId":430866,"journal":{"name":"Korean Logistics Research Association","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114736831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, customers gets the opportunity to purchase a lot of stuffs through the integrated channels both online and offline. However, this trend makes retail companies have difficulties to prepare more products and control the inventory. Especially, it gets more important to predict future demand. But, the life cycle of product gets shorten, thus it is impossible to predict demand based on the long-term historical data. In order to overcome the limitations of the traditional demand forecasting method, the cluster based demand forecasting methods have been proposed. Still, the previous research could not solve the limitations because they utilized the input variables from the categories or specifications of product. In this research, we have proposed the different approach to utilize the meta-data which can describe the sales patterns. Based on these pattern, we developed the cluster of products which are categorized into different groups. After integrating the sales data, we have developed demand forecasting models using deel learning technology, LSTM.","PeriodicalId":430866,"journal":{"name":"Korean Logistics Research Association","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115101505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this research is to analyze and assess the unique supply chain resilience of the Uzbek automotive industry during the pandemic. A qualitative methodology was used in the research; a case study consisting of semi-structured interviews with the supply chain department staff of an Uzbek car manufacturing company. The results show that owing to supply limitations, lockdowns, and increasing prices, the Uzbek car manufacturing company faced shortages and declining production volume. However, because of its inventory redundancy capability and attentive teamwork, the company remained open, while a multitude of large corporations were forced to shut down production. To our knowledge, this is the first research work to identify and assess the supply chain resilience of the Uzbek automotive industry during the COVID-19 disruption. The findings of this paper are expected to contribute to car manufacturing operations in Uzbekistan and in general because they suggest a resilience readiness beyond the conventional risk management supported by the industry experts.","PeriodicalId":430866,"journal":{"name":"Korean Logistics Research Association","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126821364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study focuses on negotiation measures between Korea and USA to minimize damages related to the supply chain of the automobile industry, which is expected from the implementation of the IRA. The IRA is ultimately intended to build a US-centered electric vehicle production ecosystem, and from the standpoint of the Korean automobile industry, it is necessary to move away from relying on China for major raw materials for batteries so far, and to restructure or significantly adjust the supply chain. Regarding the IRA, both the Korea-US negotiations and the Korea-China negotiations have important meaning considering the future growth engines of electric vehicles and batteries. In negotiations with the United States, it is desirable for Korea to recognize that the nature of the issue is derived from the multilateral economic hegemony of the United States, and to engage in negotiations based on principle, that is, a problem-solving attitude that excludes political and diplomatic relations with both the United States and China. For the US, it is desirable to pursue a strategy that maximizes the actual benefits that can be obtained from local foreign direct investment rather than focusing on the application of exceptions to the IRA Act. If Korea fully accepts the US position on the IRA and makes a decision against China’s interests, there may be a threat of retaliation from China, and we must prepare for this at various levels.","PeriodicalId":430866,"journal":{"name":"Korean Logistics Research Association","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125874506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The second goal is to confirm further hypotheses which joba satisfaction and delegation of authority show positive moderating effect on the relationship between Supply Chain Management practice capacity and the performance respectively. To accomplish these goals, the authors conducted a series of surveys and empirical analyses utilizing reliability analysis, validity check, regression model analysis and moderate regression model analysis. \u0000Those analyses brought the result that Supply Chain Management practice has positive effect on the performance in Korean sample companies. Further research analyses showed the results that delegation of authority demonstrates positive moderating effect on relationship between Supply Chain Management practice and the performances, while job satisfaction does not. lt implies an managerial implication that implementing investments on and making efforts on Supply Chain Management practice and delegation of authority concurrently can provide companies with more improvement in the performance because of a synergistic effect between the two. Moreover, one possible reason that job satisfaction does not demonstrates synergetic effect can be explained by the characteristic that job satisfaction have to be sought over long, not short, time span to expect improvements in performance in connection with other types of managerial efforts or investments.","PeriodicalId":430866,"journal":{"name":"Korean Logistics Research Association","volume":"161 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126209841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accordingly, domestic small and medium-sized export manufacturing companies are also included in the list of external stakeholder pressure on the implementation of an eco-friendly system for sustainable operation. Therefore, it is necessary to derive stakeholder determinants that affect the level of Green SCM adoption in the distribution and logistics sector of domestic small and medium-sized export manufacturing companies and present their eco-friendly management strategy directions. Based on Freeman’s stakeholder model, the purpose of our paper is to analyze how it affects the level of introduction of Green SCM by deriving stakeholder factors of small and medium-sized export manufacturers, and to analyze the significance of the moderating effect by conducting a multiple group analysis on the ISO 14001 data implementation period. To this end, our study distributed the questionnaire designed through pending research and in-depth interviews with experts to workers of domestic distribution logistics small and medium-sized export manufacturing companies, and used member lists of the Carbon Convergence Industry Research Association, Korea Trade Association, and professional trading companies to secure objectivity and reliability of samples. The analysis results of our study are as follows. First, the threat of government regulation had a negative (-) effect on the level of Green SCM adoption. Similar results were derived from studies by Xue et al. (2021) and Li et al. (2019) in that the stronger government regulations, the more negatively they affect corporate decision-making and performance. Second, supplier cooperation had a positive (+) effect on the level of Greem SCM adoption. These results are similar to the studies of Kitsis & Chen (2021), Park Chan-kwon, etc. (2019), and the higher the level of awareness of supplier cooperation, the higher the level of Green SCM adoption. Third, community responsibility had a positive (+) effect on the level of Green SCM adoption. This was similar to the study of Khosroshahi et al. (2021) in that small and medium-sized export manufacturing companies have an environmental responsibility as a member of the community and introduce eco-friendly management to contribute to the community. Fourth, the ISO 14001 data implementation period showed a significant moderating effect in the relationship between supplier cooperation and Green SCM adoption level. As a result, it was confirmed that the longer the ISO 14001 data implementation period, the higher the level of adoption through continuous eco-friendly activities to maintain eco-friendly certification.","PeriodicalId":430866,"journal":{"name":"Korean Logistics Research Association","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122639003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study compares and analyzes Korean cars, Japanese cars, and German cars by sales factors in the 50 US states instead of country level determinants considered in previous studies. In this respect, it makes differentiated contributions. This study adopts the fixed-effect model estimation using panel data as a research method. First, it performs the estimation using the size of Korean automobile imports, Japanese automobile imports, and German automobile imports as dependent variables. Furthermore, this study estimates the fixed-effect model for Korean automobile imports relative to Japanese automobile imports and Korean automobile imports relative to German automobile imports. According to the research results of this study, the size of imports of Korean automobiles and Japanese automobiles is affected by efficient fuel use or fuel price such as highway fuel efficiency and fuel price. On the other hand, German car imports are not affected by fuel prices and are inversely related with the highway fuel economy. Another finding of this study is that the higher the ratio of fatalities in highway traffic accidents, the lower the Japanese automobile imports. In addition, this study finds that the ratio of single-driver commuting to work has inverse relationship with the German automobile imports. Lastly, it is found that automobile imports from Korea and Japan are found to be affected by overall preferences for products in those countries. Meanwhile, as a result of controlling for major sales factors, Korean cars, Japanese cars, and German cars are equally preferred in California, Florida, Michigan, Virginia, and Rhode Island. In Mississippi, South Carolina, Oregon and Tennessee, Korean and Japanese cars are preferred over German cars while Korean cars and German cars are preferred over Japanese cars in New Jersey, Georgia, and Texas. On the other hand, in Louisiana, Washington, and Pennsylvania, Korean-made cars was found to be remarkably preferred over German and Japanese cars. The results of this study provides a guideline for sales strategy for Korean cars in the US market. This study limits the subjects of imports of Korean cars, Japanese cars, and German cars to 50 states in the United States, and only categorizes cars by production country rather than automobile brands. If these data can be accessed, various studies will be possible in the future.","PeriodicalId":430866,"journal":{"name":"Korean Logistics Research Association","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130589568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of the rapid increase of global express cargo since 2020, Global express service problems are detected from the major ports and airports in all countries. This phenomenon is expected to continue for the time being due to the proliferation of non-face-to-face transactions and an increase in diverse consumer demand. Global express service is the industry most affected by the delay of global logistics services, and various problems such as delay in delivery as well as sales of counterfeit goods, product damage, and tariffs are being pointed out. In particular, as the purchasing agency of overseas products spreads in domestic online shopping malls, not only consumers but also various entities that provide express services are faced with various problems. Accordingly, the Korean government is seeking various solutions, but there is a limitation in that it cannot take into account the characteristics of various entities participating in global express services. In this study, we define gobal express service as a standard process from the perspective of the global supply chain, and identify possible risk factors in 9 stages from the stage of ordering overseas products to receiving the goods after arriving at Incheon International Airport, the possible risk factors were identified in 9 stages to determine their relative importance. In addition, based on the survey results of those who have experienced direct purchases overseas and those involved in global express service, risk factors with high priority were compared and analyzed from the perspective of the participants. Based on this, the damage of the top 10 risk factors is divided into 4 categories : Reliability/Trust, Lead Time, Cost, and Quality/Safety. Countermeasures in terms of policy, system, and service operation were presented for each risk factor.","PeriodicalId":430866,"journal":{"name":"Korean Logistics Research Association","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126515422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study the main stress falls on multichannel selection according to their purchase behavior and demographic characteristics. And it mainly focuses on the question of what kind of factors influence on purchasing the HMR and how to classify the customer groups based on the consideration attributes. We surveyed 170 Chinese customers who had used HMR products for the past twelve months, ranging from 20 to 69 years old. In order to characterize the customers, 22 factors were selected by earlier studies and brainstorming. The result was organized by factor score from K-mean clustering method, Chinese consumers were clustered into four groups. They are listed here as follows; (1)group focusing on major supermarkets, (2)group focusing on online stores, (3)group focusing on many different types of offline stores, and (4)group for cross-channel shopper. Customers who had purchased HMR products and obtained the related information mainly from major supermarkets were classified as Group 1. Customers who had evaluated various factors for buying the products and mainly used online stores were classified as Group 2. And customers of Group 3 were purchased the products by many types of offline stores, contrary to the Group 1. Lastly, in Group 4, customers had trend of purchasing based on cross-channel shopping for various purposes.
