Adaptive Video Learning by the Interactive E-partner 交互式电子伙伴的自适应视频学习

However, watching lecture videos alone would be boring and make the self-paced learning difficult and inefficient, since students could not be monitored by the teacher and accompanied by classmates. In this paper, we propose an adaptive video learning system to motivate students and grab their attention by inserting the interactive e-partner into the lecture videos. The e-partner's behaviors would evolve and animate with the student's learning style and the lecturer's teaching behavior, so that students can be encouraged to focus on the lecture content and enjoy the self-paced learning at the same time. The experimental results show that the augmented lecture video produced by our proposed system could improve the students' viewing experience to the original lecture video. The proposed method can improve the quality of document clustering because it can avoid clustering the documents whose similarities with topics are high but are meaningless between cluster and document by using the weighted semantic features. Besides, it uses cluster similarity to remove dissimilarity documents in clusters and avoid the biased inherent semantics of the documents to be reflected in clusters by NMF (non-negative matrix factorization). Chan","doi":"10.1109/DIGITEL.2010.48","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/DIGITEL.2010.48","url":null,"abstract":"Although competitive games have multi-fold benefits to students’ learning, such as motivation, satisfaction, and effectiveness, inappropriate competitive learning activities may have some negative impacts on students. From the literature, the authors have identified three main strategies which may reduce the negative impacts in competition game. However, because these strategies target only at the design of competition, the learning effects is limited. In fact, learning also happens in the preparation before competition. Hence, this study adopts preparation-before-competition approach to foster the habit of endeavor. That is, students make more effort to learn; they will win more easily. An animal companion system, entitled My-Pet-Trainer system, was implemented according to such approach. The system encourages students to improve their learning in the preparation stage where the virtual pets represent students’ open learner models before the competition stage. Some of the pitfalls of course design have been identified which need to be addressed to increase students’ motivation and to reduce students’ difficulties in grasping Java programming concepts. As a solution, a game based assessment and exercise design is proposed for Java programming which will keep students on the task, and provide motivation and challenges. The game is developed and built on web browsers with AJAX technology. It offers an analysis of the male and female performances staged in fighting games and raises the issue of whether these games, which pupils are fond of, are inherently sexist or resolutely egalitarian. It allows group members to gain knowledge through collaborations and interactions. Nowadays, most Internet collaborative learning systems are designed to provide students mainly with a convenient online environment to study theoretical courses but rarely with an online environment to operate practical instruments. Hence, this paper describes the design of a 3D online collaborative learning system for operating virtual instruments with circuit-measuring function. The proposed system functions give learners not only a collaborative learning environment via networking to jointly operate the 3D virtual instruments but also the functions of instant messages and 3D puzzles to interact with one another by integrating with Virtual Reality, Remote Control Parameter Transmission and embedded system techniques. Therefore, learners can effectively improve learning interests and results.
