The aims of this research is to find out the kind of subtitling strategies in the movie. This research used a descriptive method. The source data for this research are English subtitle and Indonesian subtitle from The Divergent Series: Insurgent movie. The data in this research is the dialogue in the movie. The researcher used the theory from Gottlieb (1992). The result of this research there are 8 kind of subtitling strategies, there are 73 data classified as Paraphrase, 32 data classified as Transfer, 13 data classified as Expansion, 21 data classified as Imitation, 4 data classified as Condensation, 5 data classified as Decimation, 12 data classified as Deletion, and 5 data classified as Resignation. According to Freud, self-defense mechanism is an individual way of coping with anxiety-related outbursts. Anxiety can arise when there is a conflict of desire between the id and ego because the id gets a sex drive and aggression that forces the ego to do something it wants. The problem of individuals who overcome anxiety by self-defense can also occur in human \"creation\" in the form of characters in literary works, as in the novel. The novel to be studied in this research is a children's novel from Germany entitled Pünktchen und Anton by Erich Kästner. The main characters, Pünktchen and Anton, are still in elementary school. Pünktchen and Anton have different life problems from each other. This study aims to know in depth or to explore the type of self-defense mechanism used by the two main figures in the face of anxiety. This research is qualitative research with a content analysis method. The results show there are 31 data on self-defense mechanisms in this novel. Pünktchen uses the form of Repression 3 data, Reaction Formation 6 data, Displacement 1 data, Fixation 1 data, Disclaimer 1 data, and Rationalization 1 data. Anton uses the form of Repression 4 data, Reaction Formation 6 data, Displacement 3 data, Sublimation 2 data, and Rationalization 3 data. The second sub-focus on the type of personality of the main character, the results show Pünktchen used 4 data for id, 4 data for superego, and 1 data for ego. It means Pünktchen's personality is dominated by id and superego. Anton used 3 data for the id, 6 data for the ego, and 5 data for the superego. The data were morphophonemic and taken from “Laboratory Manual for Morphology and Syntax” Seventh Edition written by Merrified et.al., and published in 2003 about Fore Language of Papua New Guinea. The data consist of pronoun markers including first singular (1s), second singular (2s), third singular (3s), and first plural (1p). The Item-and-Process was used to analyze the morphophonemic data. The researcher found that to construct the person markers in Fore Language, the underlying form of the words should be substituted, inserted, or deleted after attached to the underlying form of the suffix. Humans use language in spoken form to communicate. Sometimes the participants do not obey the Cooperative Principle. Some participant often gives more or less information, say something that glances at ambiguity, say something false and being irrelevant. This research focuses to find out the types of Flouting Maxim and the most Flouting Maxim frequently occurred found in The Adam Project movie. This research used descriptive qualitative method. In this research, the researcher used Grice’s (1975) theory in analysing the data. The data were taken from The Adam Project movie. The researcher found 30 data that contain Flouting Maxim in The Adam Project movie based on the theory. The result showed there are 4 types of Flouting Maxim namely Flouting Maxim of Quantity (4 data), Flouting Maxim of Quality (8 data), Flouting Maxim of Relation (4 data), Flouting Maxim of Manner (14 data). Therefore, the research aimed to compare the representation of ideal city in Meikarta and PGV advertisements. The research used a qualitative design in conducting the study. The data were the Meikarta audiovisual advertisement “Aku ingin pindah ke Meikarta” and the PGV audiovisual advertisement in 2017. To find the objective of the research, the researcher used Critical Discourse Analysis by Fairclough (1996) in emphasizing on language and power inequality. Fairclough (1996) introduced the model of discourse analysis, such as: text, interaction, and context. Moreover, to identify whether were or not the relationship between language; ideology; and power, the researcher applied three dimensions by Fairclough in analyzing the data, namely: Description, Interpretation, and Explanation. Then, the research figured out that both of advertisements had  concepts to attract the consumers to buy the products by demonstrating the concepts of ideal city, such as: no traffic jam, modern transportation system, health center, good weather, greenery, and easy access. The research results revealed that the established project-based learning model was confirmed well-founded for teaching online interpreting courses regarding appraisals from the English language teaching assessment experts, materials experts, and future users. This study uses the id, ego, superego, and defense mechanism by Freud and inferiority complex by Heidbreder. Through the descriptive analytical method, this analyze is to help the interpretation of the women characters state of minds including their stress coping mechanism and classify their types of inferior complex. The results of this study shows that Medea had a high tendency to feel insecure as a result of her husband’s betrayal, and she mostly used projection as a defense mechanism to revenge her husband. Meanwhile, Amanda demonstrates the use of identification as a stress escapement from societal pressure, as well as her inferiority complex when faced with a guy caller. This study aims to analyse the author’s way to depict false consciousness in Cosmopolis’ “fictionalised” Manhattan through the proletariat’s actions toward the bourgeois main character in keeping on promoting of the latter’s economic interests. The study uses descriptive analytical of qualitative method with Marxist class theory to analyse false consciousness in Manhattan as depicted by the selected proletarian characters who work for the bourgeois main character. Then, the study also uses lexical analysis to analyze the attitudinal elements in the song lyrics. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. The data is contained by separating the lyrics into clauses. Then, the data is analyzed by using two major instruments namely interpersonal meaning which analyzes the mood types and the modality. Then, the study uses appraisal system to realize the attitude of the speaker. In interpersonal meaning analysis, the most dominant mood type is declarative mood with the total of 132 clauses from 162 clauses or about 81.48% and the most modality found is median modality with 9 occurrences or about 50% from total of 18. Each language has its own systems and characteristics. People could translate foreign languages into their languages to reduce the barrier in communication. Unfortunately, there are times when the translator has difficulty translating the source language into the target language. In consequence, a translation shift is required. This study aims to find out the dominant category shift of noun phrases in the English-Bahasa Indonesia The Girl on the Train novel. The research method adopts in this study is a descriptive qualitative method. There are two sources of data for this study: English and Bahasa Indonesia versions of The Girl on the Train. The data used are in the form of noun phrases. The data is analysed by Catford’s translation shift theory. The result of this study is all types of category shift occur: structure shift, class shift, unit shift, and intra-system shift. The most dominant category shift is structure shift (56%). Followed by intra-system shift (18%) and unit shifts (17%).
