Trust management is considered as an effective approach to enhance grid security. This paper introduces the trust into the multi-domain grid and qualifies grid trust as the relationship between grid resource providers and grid consumers. In order to provide more flexible and scalable protection for grid resources and services in multi-domain grid, this paper puts forward a novel trust model in multi-domain grid environment. As an application of our trust model, this trust model is originally introduced into grid security framework as an important component of security framework. By analyzing the case study, it is easy to see that our trust aware security model can meet the security requirement of multi-domain grid environment and has the characters of better security, scalability and flexibility.","PeriodicalId":429657,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fifth Annual ChinaGrid Conference","volume":"20 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131539839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paradigm, computation on a large dataset is decomposed into tasks that are expected to be executed in parallel with dynamically allocated computing resources. These tasks pass data via files, and each one is to execute an existing program on one dataset element. Task scheduling is a key issue to enable MTC on parallel platforms like large-scale clusters, Grids and Clouds. Current solutions mainly focus on maximizing the number of utilized parallel computing resources. This paper proposes a configurable MTC model that aims to minimize a MTC computation’s turnaround time cost with as few resources as possible. The primary strategy is to coalesce tasks with application-specific expertise into task-sequences, and assign tasks on granularity of task-sequences. Based on this model, a self-optimizing task partitioning algorithm has been devised for scheduling tasks in MTC. It separates task assignment from resource allocation, and makes a tradeoff between maximizing utilized resources, balancing workload and reducing computation-scheduling overhead. The algorithm has been implemented in Harmonia, which is a software platform developed by Peking University for enabling MTC on large-scale distributed platforms. Both the configurable MTC model and the self-optimizing task partitioning algorithm were evaluated with the genome alternative splicing application, and experimental results have proved the model’s practicability.","PeriodicalId":429657,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fifth Annual ChinaGrid Conference","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133377874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, traditional approach software deployment can not scale well because of their time-consumption properties. In order to solve this problem and provide an efficient solution, this paper proposes a new method for deploying software automatically in large-scale clusters. Softwares are classified into categories according to their installation process. We developed a software prototype SDS: Software Deployment System to verify and test the proposed method. By improving the deployment program based on the traditional installation package, the approach can resolve the difficulty of interaction between administrator and deployment processes during software deployment to achieve the automatic deployment of software. Experimental results show that the system can efficiently deploy software on Linux cluster and outperform linear growth software deployment system.","PeriodicalId":429657,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fifth Annual ChinaGrid Conference","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123707360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current technologies of virtualizing I/O devices include full virtualization, paravirtualization, software emulation and VMM-bypass direct I/O. Optimizations are also done to improve the performance of each technology. Most optimizations used paravirtualization technology for reference. VMM-bypass direct I/O performs the best performance, but the VM direct-access I/O devices is difficult to be migrated, for it is hard to capture the states of the devices without VMM interference. An ideal approach is still required, and all the optimizations to the other approaches can be used for reference. We evaluated I/O performance in KVM and proposed some optimizations to improve KVM.","PeriodicalId":429657,"journal":{"name":"2010 Fifth Annual ChinaGrid Conference","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128375910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Upon the platform, users could apply for a Virtual Machine (VM) as BSCR to execute simulation application. B/S architecture is adopted by the platform. On server side, the function servers control the state and performance of the virtual machines and the web server queries the computing performance parameter, chooses relevant algorithm, dispatches virtual machine and finally guides the user into operating desktop of the VM. The structure of the platform is introduced, and the construction of the key modules is discussed in detail. In the end, a process of creating new VM is described by an interaction diagram.
