Now grid scheduling policies are mostly traditional heuristic algorithms for scheduling n independent tasks on m processors in early finishing time. However grids have developed to wide area, heterogeneous and non autonomous environments, business objective also became crucial for the success of the scheduling. Therefore base on a grid scheduling model with business parameters, we designed an evolutionary scheduling algorithm. The algorithm capability and performance were demonstrated by simulations. Furthermore a predictive resource mechanism was brought out to improve scheduling efficiency. Currently, the real-time of most video-based identification methods is not satisfactory. The Hausdorff distance plays an important role in object recognition. However, when comparing the relationship between objects, the traditional Hausdorff distance even some modified Hausdorff distances need to traverse all the points of the image to be matched, which is a non-linear operator. In order to deal with the real-time problem, an improved Hausdorff distance algorithm based on central detection method is proposed. Due to narrowing the search range of space when calculating the Hausdorff distance, the computing speed has been improved compared with the traditional Hausdorff distance for object recognition. An example of vehicles recognition is used to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method. However, the performance penalty resulting from virtualization is an unneglectable problem and should be carefully evaluated. To our knowledge, there are few performance evaluating tools developed for virtualization environments. We propose a configurable framework and implement a prototype vTestkit to provide a platform to do performance evaluation for virtualization environments easily, flexibly, and automatically. In this paper, we first discuss the requirements and challenges of performance measurement in virtualization environments, and then present a methodology for characterizing the performance of single virtual machine (VM) scenario and multi-VM scenario. Then we introduce the architecture of vTestkit framework, implement details, and the testing process with vTestkit. In this paper, we design and implement a multi-node MPI programming and running environment for CellBE processor. The MPI communication library prototype, which mainly includes the basic point-to-point communication and the multicast communication operations, is implemented in this cell-MPI model. By this work, the programmers can exploit the SPE’s computing capability to improve the program running efficiency using the traditional MPI programming model; the burden of porting application to the CellBE processor is much reduced. K-Means is a typical distance-based clustering algorithm; 2-tier clustering should implement scalable clustering by means of dividing, sampling and knowledge integrating. Among those tools of distributed processing, Map-Reduce has been widely embraced by both academia and industry. Hadoop is an open-source parallel and distributed programming framework for the implementation of Map-Reduce computing model. With the analysis of the Map-Reduce paradigm of computing, we find that Hadoop parallel and distributed computing model is appropriate for the implementation of scalable clustering algorithm. This paper takes advantages of K-Means, 2-tier clustering mechanism and Map-Reduce computing model; proposes a new method for parallel and distributed clustering to explore distributed clustering problem based on Map-Reduce. The method aims to apply the clustering algorithm effectively to the distributed environment. The extensive studies demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is scalable, and the time performance is stable. In this way, the applications running in local host can be deployed and running on the cloud storage without any modification. An acceptable solution is to enhance current cloud storage with standard POSIX file system interface. So that it can benefit from the scalable capacity of existing cloud storage and compatible interface of traditional file systems. With this point in mind, we designed and implemented the PosixCloud, a general purpose scalable storage cloud with standard POSIX interface for traditional end users. Similar to other cloud storage systems, the PosixCloud is designed to be chunk based data layout, built on commodity computers, chunk replication for reliability and so on. However, the metadata in our system is managed in distributed database instead of the memory single master. So that the metadata scalability of our system is enhanced and large small files can be handled without introducing high overhead. The paper describes the details of the design and implementation of PosixCloud. Also, we evaluate the POSIX compliance, functionality, data and metadata performance of PosixCloud by both test suits of third parties and customized experiments.
