Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 23 siswa kelas VIII salah satu SMP di Kota Cimahi Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019. Pengambilan data diperoleh dengan metode tes untuk menentukan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang kemudian dianalisis ketercapaian dan kesulitan siswa pada setiap indikator yang menjadi dasar pengembangan media pembelajaran. Media kemudian diujicobakan kembali dalam pembelajaran. Pamungkas","doi":"10.35706/SJME.V3I2.1780","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.35706/SJME.V3I2.1780","url":null,"abstract":"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar Rainbow Book pada materi bangun datar, khususnya keliling dan luas persegi, persegi panjang dan segitiga, untuk mengetahui tingkat validitas bahan ajar Rainbow Book yang dikembangkan dan untuk mengetahui respon pengguna terhadap bahan ajar Rainbow Book, serta mengukur pemahaman peserta didik setelah menggunakan bahan ajar Rainbow Book. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas IV SDN Bhayangkari yang berjumlah 20 peserta didik Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019. Pengambilan data diperoleh dengan tes, observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang meliputi tujuh langkah pokok, yaitu: analisis kebutuhan, kemampuan peneliti sebagai pengembang, produk yang dikembangkan, konsep produk, pengembangan produk, uji ahli, dan uji coba lapangan. Hasil penelitian berupa buku ajar matematika yang berorientasi pada kompetensi abad 21 pada materi Pythagoras kelas VIII yang valid. Kevalidan buku ajar diperoleh berdasarkan data dari angket penilaian para ahli, yaitu ahli materi, ahli bahasa, dan ahli media. Penilaian ahli materi mencapai kategori baik, ahli bahasa mencapai kategori sangat baik, dan ahli media mencapai kategori sangat baik. Sedangkan keterbacaan dan kepraktisan buku ajar diperoleh dari data angket penilaian guru matematika yang hasilnya mencapai kategori sangat baik. Pengambilan data diperoleh dengan pedoman wawancara, lembar observasi mahasiswa dan lembar soal tes untuk melihak kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa. yang kemudian dianalisis melalui langkah-langkah; (1) Reduksi Data; (2)Penyajian Data; (3) Verifikasi. {"title":"The Influence of PQ4R Strategy and Mathematical Reasoning Ability Towards Mathematical Communication Skills","authors":"A. This is a quantitative research using quasi-experimental method conducted at SMAN 3 Depok with 80 samples of students selected based on their mathematical reasoning skill. Data were obtained through questions about mathematical reasoning and mathematical communication and then analyzed with two-way ANOVA. The data analysis and interpretation showed that students who were taught with PQ4R strategy had better mathematical communication skill than students who had been traditionally taught. The effect of mathematical communication skill differed depending on mathematical reasoning ability. There was a more significant difference between students with high mathematical reasoning skill and low mathematical reasoning skill for students in the treatment condition than there was for subjects in the control condition. Thus, there was an interaction between the learning strategy and mathematical reasoning skill. There are numerous innovative teaching strategies which are promising and have shown to improve students’ achievement in mathematics; one will wonder if there will be corresponding achievement growth in mathematics. Therefore, this paper predicts growth rate of students’ achievement in mathematics using mathematical growth model. A developmental survey design was employed where students’ WAEC mathematics achievement results from 1991-2016 were collected from the Development Division, West African Examination Council (WAEC) Lagos, Nigeria. The Logistic growth mathematical model was used to compute predicted achievement growth rate. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was also used to plot the graph of the achievement data from 1991 to 2016. The result indicates that the predicted growth rate of students’ achievement in mathematics is approximately increased by 25.3% per year. This shows a weak upward trend in predicted rate of achievement at credit level and consequently indicates unsteady sustainability in mathematics achievement as well as economic growth. It is recommended among others that there should be investigation into factors responsible for the weak and unsteady achievement growth in WAEC general mathematics in Nigeria. Also, effective teaching and learning of mathematics at all levels of schooling should be ensured by all concerned in other to sustain the achievement growth in the subject. Based on the purpose of the study two hypotheses guided the study. The descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of all 3056 primary six pupils in Owerri Education zone of Imo State. A Sample size of 200 primary six pupils was selected for the study. Simple random sampling technique was used in selecting four schools out of the nine schools. The instruments used for data collection was Academic Motivation Scale and Mathematics Achievement Test. The validity was determined by two experts in measurement and evaluation and one expert in mathematics education. The instruments have reliability coefficient of 0.89 and 0.92 determined using tests-retest method. Data generated were analyzed with the aid SPSS version. Inferential statistics of t-test and Pearson product moment correlation were used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study concludes that motivation improves academic performance of the pupils and there is a gender difference in motivation type and academic performance.
