This paper presents an algorithm to detect and classify voltage sag causes based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). EMD is a method which decomposes a non stationary signal into different mono component signals. These mono component signals are called Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs). The magnitude plot of the Hilbert Transform (HT) of the first IMF has the ability to detect the disturbance. The features of the first three IMFs of each disturbance are used as inputs to Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) for identification of voltage sag causes. Three voltage sag causes are (i) Fault induced voltage sag (ii) Starting of induction motor and (iii) Three phase transformer energization. A comparison is made with wavelet transform. Simulation results show that the EMD method is more efficient in classifying the voltage sag causes.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121273191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With advances in screening, diagnosis, and treatment, the death rate for breast cancer has declined by about 20% over the past decade. Micro-calcifications are calcium deposit which can be identified as tiny areas that are slightly brighter than surrounding tissue [13]. In this paper, we propose a micro-calcification detection algorithm in two parts. One is segmentation of the mass or nodule and the other is detection of micro-calcification within the mass. Human detection in an unmanned area can be done only by an automated system. Alive human body detection system proposed a monitoring system using ultrasonic sensors and camera to record, transmit and analyze conditions of human body. The task of identify human being in rescue operations is difficult for the robotic agent but it is simple for the human agent. In order to detect a human body, an autonomous robot must be equipped with a specific set of sensors that provide information about the presence of a person in the environment around. This work describes an autonomous robot for rescue operations. The proposed system uses an ultrasonic sensor in order to detect the existence of living humans and a low-cost camera in order to acquire a video of the scene as needed. Additional, other sensors include temperature, fire and metal detector works as bomb sensor to detect the presence of bomb in Warfield and in rescue operations. Having detected a sign of a living human, the ultrasonic sensor Triggers the camera to show live scene. The video is then displayed on the screen. This approach requires a relatively small number of data to be acquired and processed during the rescue operation. This way, the real-time cost of processing and data transmission is considerably reduced. This system has the potential to achieve high performance in detecting alive humans in devastated environments relatively quickly and cost-effectively. The detection depending on a number of factors such as the body position and the light intensity of the scene. Results show that the system provides an efficient way to track human motion. The aim of this article is to present our experience with various sensors designed and developed.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125959124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The efficiency of this algorithm mainly depends on the homogeneity regions of images in the video. If the blocks having small variance values are more in current frame then this algorithm takes far fewer computations for best block searching. The proposed algorithm is executed on a personal computer with 2.53-GHz CPU. Since the CPU takes fewer clock cycles for addition and subtraction operations than multiplication operation, this paper focuses on ways to decrease the number of multiplications to speed up the motion vector search. In addition to the temporal redundancy we also try to take advantage of the spatial redundancy for reducing the number of multiplications. In a simulation of motion estimation, it has proven that the proposed algorithm achieves exactly the same optimal results as the direct SSD full search, but with a processing speed of about 50 times higher.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127904138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These considerations, which are mainly concentrated on improving the quality of feedback signals, can be divided into two parts. The first part is devoted to reducing high frequency noises, while the second part is aimed to increase the resolution of feedback signals. Resolutions of feedback signals have been improved by changing the reference voltages of ADC according to instantaneous desired torque. The LC dynamics are being captured using multi-resolution remote sensing (RS) data with appropriate classification strategies. RS data with important environmental layers (either remotely acquired or derived from ground measurements) would however be more effective in addressing LC dynamics and associated changes. These ancillary layers provide additional information for delineating LC classes' decision boundaries compared to the conventional classification techniques. This communication ascertains the possibility of improved classification accuracy of RS data with ancillary and derived geographical layers such as vegetation index, temperature, digital elevation model (DEM), aspect, slope and texture. This has been implemented in three terrains of varying topography. The study would help in the selection of appropriate ancillary data depending on the terrain for better classified information.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"337 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131592611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
