A novel self-assessed three-stage feature extraction method is presented here which includes extracting edges from the input gray image, applying Gabor filter to compute Gabor energy feature and wavelet decomposition technique to extract the feature vector of computationally affordable size. A probabilistic neural network (PNN) is employed to classify the aerial images. From the database of 112 images (58 are natural scenes and 54 are images with manmade structures), total of 30 images, 15 from each class, are used for training phase. For testing the algorithm, 82 images (39 manmade class and 43 of natural class) are used. The proposed method gives 92.307% correct classification for images with manmade structure and 97.67% for natural scene images.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131725124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are very capable of being used to make excellent general lighting with sources that can replace many of the traditional lighting technologies in use today because of the fact that LED system offers high system efficacy, desired color temperature and long life. This paper presents the design of white LED array pattern as a light source using RELUX lighting software which can replace the 12w CFL used in solar powered home lighting systems. Analysis shows that 12w CFL can be replaced by 9w LED fixture without compromising for quality and quantity aspects of lighting. The design of LED array pattern and the power management topology employed to embed with LED source to prototype as a fixture is discussed. The simulated photometric characteristic is validated for the developed prototype. Simple comparison reveals that 3w of power saving per fixture is achieved thus showing the capability of LEDs as an energy efficient light source.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132936090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The topology is changed so rapidly, finding a routing path is a challenge in reactive protocol methodology. Securing ad hoc networks is infamously challenging, notably due to the lack of an online infrastructure. MANET poses a number of security challenges due to changeable topology, wireless shared medium, diverse resources and inflexible resource constraints etc. In this paper, we present an elaborate view of issues of MANET with emphasis on security challenges in reactive protocol with different dimensions like secure routing, secured key management and trust management through reputation in order to detect intrusion and protect.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130983037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The routing table in AODV, however, maintains only one route to the specified node. Therefore, the source node needs to re-initiate route discovery process whenever route failure occurs which leads to increase in routing overhead and end-to-end delay. This paper presents a mechanism based on Backup paths, to overcome the route failures and selective flooding mechanism to minimize the average end-to-end delay in AODV with unidirectional links. Proposed mechanism is implemented in NS-2 simulator, and, on an average 40% reduction in average end-to-end delay is achieved and routing load is reduced when compared to the work reported earlier.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132893821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IEC 61850 is a standard for the design of electrical SAS. It defines the communication between IEDs in the substation and the related system requirements. The GOOSE messaging, Substation Configuration description Language (SCL) makes IEC 61850 more reliable, and the bottlenecks faced like the one of interoperability have been addressed. In addition to lowering the installation and commissioning costs, a significant reduction in maintenance cost can also be achieved. It minimizes costs of technological obsolescence because of a global acceptance and adoption and future-proof concept of abstract services as well as independence of mapping to protocols. The above architecture is modeled using UML and XML. Lower equipment migration costs, reduced wiring, ease in integration and the ease in adding functionalities to the existing SAS makes IEC 61850 based SAS a widely accepted norm.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"8 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133525189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As it is not always easy to conclude if any Agile project is following ScrumBut or ScromAnd, we discuss two principles, derived from OOD, to distinguish between the two. Use of these principles is illustrated by application on real life scenarios. By application of these principles, a Scrum Practitioner can easily find out the methodology used in a particular project implementation.","PeriodicalId":425080,"journal":{"name":"2011 Annual IEEE India Conference","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127366705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
