This paper presents the combination methods between case-based learning and problem-based learning in the SQL programming for data analysis. Firstly, the case-based learning will apply for the beginning such as the basic command. Secondly, problem based learning will apply to practice analyzing from real world problem. At the end of the class, the presentation of all students had to be show to learn each other. The goal of this research is to build students abilities to make their own assumptions from problems taken from the real world and use SQL programs to properly analyze their hypotheses.","PeriodicalId":424459,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International STEM Education Conference (iSTEM-Ed)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127162867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Visual programming environments such as Scratch provide a gentle introduction to the topic for young children, but the transition to text-based languages such as Python or C# can be a difficult leap. A new scripting language, MiniScript, has been designed to fill this gap. It uses minimal syntax and a carefully selected small set of language features to present a less intimidating challenge for the learner. At the same time, the language is complete enough to be used for sophisticated games and other programs. Finally, MiniScript itself is lightweight and designed to be embedded into other software written in either C# or C/C++, making it more likely that children will encounter the language in the context of games, thus providing self-motivated learning opportunities.","PeriodicalId":424459,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International STEM Education Conference (iSTEM-Ed)","volume":"139 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127485124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The surfactants trap dirt and strains by micelles formation and removing dirt at concentration beyond the value at the CMC point. The CMC value can be extracted from the intersecting point between the two different linear fits of the contact angle as a function of the surfactant concentration, using image processing software and simple mathematic calculation. These CMC values of those cleaning agents are extremely helpful to reduce the use of excess chemicals and waste into an environment. In combination with the STEM concept, this instrument provides a simple design, easy to construct with high accuracy results. This interdisciplinary concept can be demonstrated as an excellent STEM tool for school or university students to explore the scientific phenomena at the surface which is no need for expensive equipment.","PeriodicalId":424459,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International STEM Education Conference (iSTEM-Ed)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127026416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, there has been an increase in the number of schools teaching STEM subjects in English to predominantly Spanish-speaking students. Oxford University Press commissioned materials to help support and market their English language STEM textbooks to Ecuadorian schools. Two STEM events were developed, a science show for younger students and a biology workshop for older students. Both projects were piloted successfully. The science shows were launched at four high schools, and the biology workshop was offered as a teacher training event. All of the pilot events were well-received. Unfortunately, the project is currently paused due to schools moving to virtual teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is hoped that it can be reinstated when schools fully return to in-person classes.","PeriodicalId":424459,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International STEM Education Conference (iSTEM-Ed)","volume":"06 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129080475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The motion of the water spray nozzle is similar to CNC machines with linear movements in two horizontal directions and it must be easily controlled by block-based coding suitable for Grade 5–6 students. The advantages of block-based controlled irrigation system are to promote teaching and learning in computational science at the elementary level for students to experience tangible programming results which should enhance learning outcome retention. The Smart Farm device performance assessment consists of nozzle head position accuracy, water content accuracy and usability of web interface with the m Block software, all of which have shown satisfactory results during the tests. A survey result taken by teachers and students during an on-site test shows high level of satisfaction in ease of use and practicality for education.","PeriodicalId":424459,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International STEM Education Conference (iSTEM-Ed)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121168737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We aim to develop a self-study system fortified with an artificial teacher that advises students by understanding their learning conditions.
