To do so, it proposes an analysis focused on the use of digital technologies in the educational context, considering the before, during, and after of the social isolation that occurred in 2020 and 2021, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The study revealed that the pandemic was a driving factor for the use of digital technologies in education and that teachers intend to keep them in their teaching practices after the pandemic context's mandatory imposition. Through critical reading of different tales, students were able to expand their linguistic repertoire and improve their writing activity. The genre chosen for the stories was terror / horror and, with each reading, there was a moment of discussion and recognition of narrative procedures. At the end of the readings, the students chose to go deeper into the work O Vilarejo, by Raphael Montes, in order to tell what happened before the events narrated in the book in question. The objectives of the study are (i) to reflect on the emotional content expressed in your writing; (ii) to investigate how emotions (LE BRETON, 2019) can be evaluated in the context of the pandemic; and (iii) to analyze the text anchored in the theoretical framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014).
