Two years later he became member of the so-called Trnava group, made up of him, Ján Ondruš, Jozef Mihalkovič and Ľubomír Feldek. The group’s poet-ics and aesthetics can be found in their manifestos – “There will be a talk about chil-dren's poetry”, “There will be a talk about translation” and “There will be a talk about poetry”, the last of which is lost. Ján Ondruš’s debut book “Wedding Journey“ was first published in 1961. His poems and one of the group’s literary manifestos are the subject of the present study. Purpose: The article examines the idea of childhood memory as “natural memory”. The concept is found in the poetry of Ján Ondruš, who is part of the Slovak poetry Trnava group. His poems serve the purpose of the article – to look at the realizations of the concretists’ theoretical views in the poems of the author mentioned above. Results: The article outlines the concept of memory, which we find in the aesthetic platform of the Slovak Trnava group, specifically in their manifesto “There will be a talk about children's literature.” In this text, the authors plead for writing poetry that is not “sucked from the finger” but is “squeezed” from memory. We deduce the “uses” of memory from the texts of one of the Trnava groups’ representatives, Ján Stacho. The subject of our research is his debut poetry collection from 1961, “Wedding Journey.” In his poems, we connect memory – as childhood and natural – with the metaphor of “salt-ing the senses” and the naive, unencumbered “sensing” the world to grasp the latter. We also include an intertextual reference to the text \"Memory\" of another poet from the Trnava group Ján Ondruš, which representatives refer to as one of their program’s works. The article attempts to explore the reasons of the economic rise in the Slav-inhabited Baltic Sea region, including the role of geographical factors; the impact of international trade on the economic development of the Slavic region; the role of the coastal Slavs in developing the Baltic trade routes as well as the network of river and land communications in Central and Eastern Europe. The paper mainly focuses on the participation of the Slavs in the formation of transcontinental trade routes and the development of trade between Europe and the Arab East. Purpose. To explore medieval written sources, archaeological sources and historical literature on the economic development of the Baltic Slavs; identify the main factors of their economic rise, including the establishment of cities and the development of trade. Results. The following conclusions are made in the article: the first early medieval cities in the southern Baltic were founded by the Slavs; as early as in the VII century in the Oder river basin alone there were about a hundred settlements in the lands of lutych tribes. The cities founded by the Slavs on the southwest coast of the Baltic were large trade centers such as Veligrad (ger. Mecklenburg), Volyn (ger. Yumna), Staryhrad (ger. Oldenburg), Kolobreg, Shchetin, Arkona and others. According to the German chronicler Adam Bremensky the Slavic city of Volyn located on the island at the mouth of the Oder river, was one of the largest early medieval cities in Europe and a major international trading center. The emergence of early cities was stimulated by economic development in the Baltic Slavic region, including agriculture and crafts. However, trade was the main factor in the economic rise of the Slav-inhabited Baltic sea region. The favorable geographical location contributed to the formation in its territory of a network of waterways and landways, which were branches of international trade highways. Contrary to established views of the Slavs as exclusively agricultural people, sources indicate that the main occupation of the coastal Slavs was trade. They also engaged in the maritime piracy, the centers of which were the islands of Fembra (ger. Femarn) and Ruyan (ger. Rügen). The coastal Slavic tribes were pioneers in paving the first trade routes and in developing international trade in the Baltic region. Trade activities of the coastal Slavs to a large extent ensured the establishment of trade links between different regions of Europe and the development of transcontinental trade between Europe and the Arab East. The transcontinental water and land routes passed through the lands inhabited by the Slavs (Slavonia). An important role in its development in the early Middle Ages also belongs to the Danube Slavs (the state of Samo, Great Moravia) and Rus. Five artists appear in the story: Cyrus-Angelos, the icon painter Nicodemus, Janibeg (artist of war), the biographer of the story and the Greek anonymous at the beginning of the story and all of them are simultaneously sublime and tragic. A special accent was certainly placed on the figure of Megalos Mastoras, through whose work the difference between the artist and the craftsman – technites and kalytechnis – was shown. Pekić's hero reaches the highest level of freedom when he is given the opportunity to decide not only his fate and that of his part, but also the fate of all the inhabitants of Tegeja. In contrast to the story of Creation, there is a story of Chaos, depicted through the concept of contagion, i.e., a plague, symbolizing destruction. Therefore, this paper will place a special emphasis on the topic of contagion, which nowadays, in a world stricken by the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, has been transforming death into a depersonalized, collective phenomenon. Apart from the mythological background and anti-utopian (i.e., “dystopian”) portrayal of mankind, this story indicates Pekić views mankind’s fall as inevitable, taking it as given. A special place in the story is dedicated to a narrative questioning the credibility of Cyrus Dumetrius’s biography, recorded by the writer. On the other hand, the story is linked with palimpsest, where a story originates from an earlier piece of writing, i.e. two pieces of text are intertwined and referring to one another. Skillfully maneuvering facts, Pekić implies that it’s not the reality that carries the greatest significance, but rather the idea it originated from. Bearing in mind the concept of a story within a story, the readership is under impression that Pekić’s “Megalos Mastoras and His Work” belongs to the type of stories that are “eternal, inalterable, and momentous”. Once again, masterfully, in a manner of a prophet, affirming himself as a visionary, Pekićgives us a story with a “force of fate”, that way possibly taking us back to the roots of art, “when it was still meaningful”. The article deals with the basic phonetic morhological and lexical markers of Deleny village’s dialect which is one of the eastern Bulgarian dialects of the Balkanic type, examines rare lexemes and dialects of the village Deleny, Artsyz district of the Odessa region, which was founded in 1828–29 by settlers from village Devlet-Agach. Currently, the area from which the Delenians came from is located on the terri-tory of Turkey. Оn the phonetic level: yatya reflexes, stability of the consonants h and f, iotation vowel at the beginning of the words, reduction of unstressed vowels and others. The dialects are differentiated by the so-called cultural vocabulary, in particular, some names of mythical characters, ritual terminology, and some names of animals. Whereas ta-lasmi, samudivi, orisnitsi, irmenki are known to almost all carriers of migratory dia-lects, the lexeme karakondjol is recorded only in the southeastern dialects. Among the rare names, the lexeme ustrel should be noted, which we recorded in the Delenian dia-lect in the meaning of ‘strong wind’. Wedding terminology differentiates the dialects as well. Thus, the lexeme ustavani in the meaning of ‘matchmaking’ was not recorded in other Bessarabian Bulgarian dialects. One of the markers of the Delenian wedding ter-minology is the lexeme chepani, which means 'short dance'. Among the rare lexemes that have preserved the Old Bulgarian forms and meanings, the name of the snail in the Delenian dialect – oli-boli should be noted. The lexical markers of the Delenian dialect are also the name of the weasel – chervena mishka. Results. Our research shows that sub-ethnic elements of dialects are very stable. The dialects under study are not a conglomerate of different dialects, the so-called koine, but different dialects that differ mainly in phonetic and lexical features: the speakers of the dialect firmly retain the dialectal features of the mainland dialect. The scientific and pedagogical activity of the professor of the Department of Slavonic Philology at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is well known in the Slavic world. One of the most prominent representatives of Lviv Slavic studies, an active organiser of science, Professor Volodymyr Motornyi was a famous representative of Bohemistics. Along with Professor Kostiantyn Trofymovych, he launched the Ukrainian scientific school of Sorbian studies, actively studied and popularised the literature and culture of various Slavic nations. One can hardly overestimate his contribution to the development of Ukrainian science being a talented teacher who educated many generations of young Slavists, was a co-organiser of the Lviv International Slavic Colloquia, as well as numerous scientific and cultural events. Despite the existence of articles and reviews dedicated to Volodymyr Motornyi, the figure of the Professor deserves more detailed coverage and promotion of his creative heritage. Purpose: The article aims to introduce readers to a sort of the portrait of Professor Motornyi as a teacher and scholar; and given the scale of the scholar and the breadth of his interests, the authors have chosen the path of presentation of just a few aspects of his work. A special place is given to the combination of objective and subjective presentation of the Professor: the facts of the biography of the scholar are supplemented by the memories of the colleagues and students. Results: The article outlines the basic touches to the portrait of Professor Volodymyr Andriyovych Motornyi, a remarkable Ukrainian scholar, one of the most prominent representatives of Lviv Slavic studies. The key dates of the biography are given, the main directions of scientific, pedagogical, and creative activity of the Slavist are analysed. The department was to specialize in Slavic issues. Thus, since the founding of the unit, Slav-ic ethnography has been one of the main topics in A. Fischer’s courses. However, until the early 1930s, these disciplines were concluded in areas of culture. A. Fischer began to implement another concept of lecture courses (by peoples or their groups) in the 1930s, after traveling to Central and Eastern Europe(travel geography included ethno-graphic centers of cities such as Prague, Brno, Martin, Bratislava, Vienna, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Belgrade, Budapest). It was then that the Lviv professor started the series “Slavic Ethnography”. It was to consist of a synthesis of “General Characteristics of Slavic Ethnography” and 11 parts of the complex characteristics of individual Slavic peoples (coverage of such issues as the boundaries of ethnic territory and ethnographic zoning, stages of ethnic history, dialectal and anthropological features, the history of ethnographic research, areas of folk culture). Purpose: The work is aimed to analyze the views of the Polish ethnologist of the interwar period Adam Fischer on the Western and Southern Slavs, in particular on the basis of the manuscripts of a professor from the Archives of the Polish Ethnological Society (Wrocław, Poland). Results: Among the West Slavic peoples, A. Fischer singled out the Polabians (German-assimilated Polabian tribes living in the area between the Elbe, the Oder and the Baltic Sea), Lusatians, Poles (the professor emphasized the population of Pomera-nia, in particular, the Kashubians, whose features against the background of the Polish people explained primarily by the Baltic influences), Czechs and Slovaks (in the series “Slavic Ethnography” two separate notebooks dedicated to these peoples were planned. Instead, in the Archives of the Polish Ethnological Society there is one manuscript of two parts – “Czechs” and “Slovaks”, respectively, which was obviously influenced by their stay in the interwar period within one state). In developing the general scheme of the series“Slavic Ethnography”, A. Fischer often used the principle of the existence of the state among the people (which is ethnologically incorrect). This can be seen primarily in the materials about the South Slavs: separate notebooks of the series were to be devoted only to such South Slavic peoples as Serbs and Croats (A. Fischer characterized them as separate peoples with one language), Slovenes, Bulgarians. In the manuscript “Ethnography of Bulgaria” the scholar paid special attention to the Macedonians, emphasizing that part of the then Bul-garian state was not Bulgarian ethnic territory.Instead, Montenegrins and Bosnians (A. By their concise form they draw the attention of people and stimulate them to buy goods and products and use various services. The role, functions, types and the importance of advertising messages attract the interest of specialists of various scientific fields in different countries. Almost all studies confirm the opinion that advertisements, besides being motivating and inducing, they also have manipulating function. Purpose: The aim of the present work is to study the manipulating impact of advertisements on public consciousness by various ways: verbal, visual etc., the stress being on language means (epithets, metaphores, antonyms, play upon words etc.). The object of the present study were advertisements in different Bulgarian media (by press and radio, television, internet). Results: This study proves that advertisements are given considerable place in electronic media and play an important role in the life of people mainly due to the language means used, thus becoming a powerful instrument for influencing society. A key point presented in the study is that users, young people in particular, do not trust much advertisement texts. This observation is based on the results of an inquiry among students which also show that interesting advertisements, while otherwise attractive and well-formed lexically, do not correspond to the actual quality of the products advertised. This ultimately leads to mistrust towards advertisements and advertisers iN general. Prognosis is made that in the future fewer people will trust advertisements no matter how vividly and emotionally effectively they are presented. The article deals with the reflection of the First World War of 1914–1918 in the monumental art of Poland. Therefore, memorial buildings and monuments are not only the realization of the creative plan of artists, i.e. their authors, but also a re-flection of a political course of the state, the experience gained, hopes, expectations, losses of people. That is why they allow us to understand the memory of the First World War in Poland. Purpose. The aim of the article is to study how the events of the First World War are reflected in the monumental art of Poland, and on this basis to consider the for-mation of historical memory, past and present practices of commemoration of the tragic events of 1914–1918. Results. The heroes and the memory of the victims of the First World War are re-spected in Poland, which in particular can be observed in the improvement of memorial complexes, memorials and other similar constructions. At the same time, the memory of the global military conflict is identified primarily with the restoration of independence. For most Poles, November 11, 1918 is associated not so much with the end of the Great War of 1914–1918 as with the birth of the Second Polish Republic of 1918–1939. Thus, the heroes of the military conflict are seen as the fighters for independence. On the other hand, the monumental buildings reflect the difficult path to independence, i.e. the division of Polish lands on the eve of the First World War and the difficulties in the establishing borders after its end. The First World War of 1914–1918 remains an important period in history. Commemorative practices, in general, coincide with those conducted in Western European countries, and, at the same time, they are mostly visible in the above position.
