Therefore, in an attempt to demonstrate relevant aspects that corroborate the understanding of the syllable in libras , important works on the syllable in this language are resumed, such as those by Cunha (2011) and Aguiar (2013). In this paper, however, the methodological basis for such analysis follows the MLMov (Hand-Location-Movement) phonological model, proposed by Lessa-de-Oliveira (2012; 2019), which establishes that the articulatory structure of libras signs is constituted in four hierarchical levels. It also aims to identify the core of the syllabic unit of libras and describe there is or there isn’t functionality in the sound principle to identify this nucleus. It is verified that a functional criterion that is able to identify the syllabic core would not be the sonority, but the obligation. As a result, it is pointed out that a syllable in libras constitutes an MLMov unit, which may have the following combinations in its internal structure: [MLMov], [ML], [MMov] or [M]. These structures are categorized this way because they mix features of both conditional and concessive clauses. In order to reveal the functioning of these clauses, we assume the model of the Functional Discourse Grammar (henceforth FDG) by Hengeveld and Mackenzie (2008), with the purpose of describing the pragmatic and semantic motivations that are manifested in the morphosyntactic properties of these structures. For the selection and analysis of the occurrences of the written texts, we chose the CREA corpus ( Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual ), a database that provides texts of the varieties of Spanish from America and Spain. The results show that the sentences introduced by cualquiera can perform both a semantic function at the Representational Level and a rhetorical function at the Interpersonal Level. However, diphthongs classified as falling, in which the semivowel follows the vowel, have variable realizations in Brazilian Portuguese. Words like peixe (fish) are realized as pexe [‘pe.ʃɪ], caixa (box) as caxa [‘ka.ʃə], cenoura (carrot), as cenora [se.’no.ɾə], results of monophthongization in which a diphthong is reduced into a monophthong. This phenomenon has already been extensively investigated in different dialectal regions from Brazil. Nevertheless, the fragmented nature of the studies turned out not to be considerably resourceful in order to build a comprehensive overview that may contribute to pedagogical applications, for example. In this text, we present an attempt to systematize the diphthongs that can be converted to monophthongs in Brazilian Portuguese and the constraints that constraints condition the application of the variable rule of monophthongization from an integrative systematic review. The target diphthongs of the phenomenon are, in a descending order of percentage of monophthongization: [oʊ̯], [eɪ̯], [aɪ̯], and [oɪ̯]. The monophthongization of [oʊ̯] is seen as a consolidated change in Brazilian Portuguese. The monophthongization of [eɪ̯] has internal constraints in relation to the following phonological context composed of palatal and tap consonants. The diphthong [aɪ̯] undergoes monophthongization in open syllable when followed by a palatal consonant; and in closed syllable when the final fricative is palatalized. The diphthong [oɪ̯] is monophtongized in closed syllables in specific lexical items, and also when the final fricative is palatalized. We assume that figures are not only ornaments of language, but real persuasion equipment. For this purpose, we developed three research questions: a) how do figures equip language? b) how can figures build persuasion in deliberative political discourse? c) how do figures integrate argument types to equip them? We base our research in the domains of rhetoric, argumentation and discourse, particularly in the works of Aristotle (2013), Barthes (2001), Perelman and Tyteca (2014), Fiorin (2020), Plantin (2008), Amossy (2020), Abreu (2009), Ferreira (2015) and Courtine (1990). Methodologically, the research has a bibliographic-documental character, of a descriptive and explanatory nature. Our corpus is composed of excerpts from the speeches of the six candidates for the republic in the televised pre-election debate on RedeTV, held on August 17, 2018 and available on the video sharing platform Youtube. The general hypothesis is that those meanings share similarities and form a continuum between two domains, i.e., POSSESSION and TYPIFICATION. We argue that relational binominal constructions are associated with a schema that evokes a conceptualizer tracing a mental path from reference point to target (Langacker, 1991; 2003). To support this claim and describe the polysemy of that construction, we analyzed and collected data from Corpus do Português. In our qualitative analysis, we observed that relational binominal constructions are instantiated by prototypical possessives (POSSESSION domain) and by prototypical typifier (TYPIFICATION domain). We have specifically named this construction as caused-action2, to reflect both its similarities and differences from the caused-action construction described in Santos, Ciríaco and Souza (2019). Although restricted to a few verbs, this clausal meaning has become common in BP. There is evidence of its usage in social media, in which expressions such as casando a irmã (marrying the sister) and formando o amigo (graduating the friend) extends the caused-action meaning to other contexts. Grounded on the Construction Grammar Usage-based Approach (GOLDBERG, 1995, 2006, 2019), the present work examines the functional aspects responsible for the compatibility between verb and caused-action2 construction in BP, based on instances found on corpora and in social media. We argue that this pattern is constrained by a conventionalized scenario of financial, emotional or social investment. Resumo: Neste artigo, investiga-se a ocorrência de um tipo de construção causativa em português brasileiro, e que pode ser exemplificada pela sentença “O pai casou a filha”. Neste trabalho, essa construção será chamada especificamente de ação-causada2, a fim de capturar tanto as semelhanças quanto as diferenças em relação à construção de ação-causada descrita em Santos, Ciríaco e Souza (2019). Embora restrita a poucos verbos, o significado oracional da construção de ação-causada tem se tornado bastante usual em PB. Uma evidência do aumento de situações de uso reais dessa construção vem de redes sociais, em que expressões que estendem o significado de ação causada para novos contextos, como “casando a irmã”, “formando o amigo”, podem ser facilmente observadas. Com base na abordagem baseada no uso da Gramática de Construções (GOLDBERG, 1995, 2006, 2019), este artigo investiga os aspectos funcionais envolvidos na compatibilização entre verbo e construção de ação causada2 em português brasileiro a partir de uma análise de dados de corpora e de redes sociais. Defende-se que essas construções são restritas por um cenário convencionalizado de investimento pessoal, seja ele financeiro, emocional ou social.
