The epidemic situation pushed students, faculties, and administrators to experiment to a much greater degree with online classes, digital cooperation, and virtual student services. For the majority of the academic community, this situation created a completely new reality. Indeed, the digital experience in higher education was for some community members quite challenging, if not traumatic. Fairly soon, however, the digital experiment proved successful in many areas. In some cases, even more effective than conservative practices. The Virtual University Concept (VUC) has been a topic of debate for quite some time, but only now has it found a receptive audience in all sectors of the academic community. In the following articles, the authors will attempt to conceptualize the virtual university as an innovative way to address contemporary challenges for Higher Education Institutions (HEI), specifically their ability to identify, create and capture value for students. The concept of the VUC is grounded in a literature review, the professional experience of the authors, as well as the student survey, which was conducted in one of Cracow’s private colleges. The authors have listed fundamental areas of focus that need to be addressed before attempting to model the VUC. They include the technical and technological capacity of a HEI, faculty development, cost management, innovation, and students' and employers' value perceptions. All this must be done with the goal of providing value to key stakeholders at a reasonable cost. All the authors' inquiry streams seem to suggest that if well designed and implemented, the VUC can be a source of significant value to students and therefore should be considered in HEI expansion and turnaround strategies.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48347414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers emphasise that humans acquire graphic messages better than text. For this reason, presenting information in the form of infographics has become a popular method. The purpose of this article is to present the issue of infographics, including: definitions, types of infographics, and using infographics in different areas of life. An example of their wide use are social media. Based on this example, research was conducted using a searching technique, the purpose being to verify infographics in selected social media. The results of the research allow to acquire information about infographics in terms of popularity in a selected period, scope of topics in infographics and information about sectors and specialists who share infographics in social media most often.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43445032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is generally acknowledged that integrating consumers into collaborative idea generation leverages the potential of social interactions, knowledge sharing and collective creativity, and it may improve the success of NPD. Despite extensive literature on value co-creation, little is known about how creativity can be enhanced and encouraged in this process. Based on a thorough literature review, the author develops an organising framework and six propositions on how creativity can be stimulated at the fuzzy front-end of the innovation process. By exploring the relevant literature, this study extends the understanding of the role that creativity plays in co-creation for NPD and provides some guidelines that may help boost the creative output and interest in co-creation activities during the development stage of an idea.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43509127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article's main aim is to diagnose the level of cultural intelligence among students of public economics universities in Poland and to determine the relationship between CQ and factors such as field of study, degree, and gender. This article was developed using research methods such as literature analysis, organizational documentation analysis, participant observation, and a Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) survey. The respondents were second-year full-time students, both bachelor and master’s degree, of two majors: Management and International Economic Relations (in Polish Międzynarodowe Stosunki Gospodarcze – MSG for short). The study shows that the cultural intelligence of students of public economics universities in Poland is relatively high. No influence of gender on CQ was determined. Contrary to assumptions, it was not observed that MSG studies influence students' CQ development. The correlation between the degree of reflection and the level of cultural intelligence differs depending on the field of study. At each of the three universities studied, no significant differences were found in the overall level of cultural intelligence between students of the two studied majors.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46127713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This viewpoint paper is based on the experience of twenty classes conducted with the MA program and postgraduate students at Kozminski University between March 2019 and December 2021, when online whiteboards and visual metaphors were used. The method used was participative observation, as the author also acted as the workshop facilitator. To observe the user’s action, the contribution tracking tool that is available on the mural whiteboard (Mural, n.d.) was activated. The explorations during the workshops revealed two elements of online classes: Conceptualization vs Illustration, to determine whether photos and pictures serve as an instrumental illustration in the background of the story, or they are important elements that convey the sense of the students’ statements. Moreover, the paper contains various practical findings that help to facilitate creative educational workshops remotely.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44687480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, these programs remain largely ineffective in tapping the optimal leadership potential of employees. Hence, this study aims to identify and describe the effects of investments in leadership development programs and to provide insight into methods for quantifying these benefits regardless of the specialization or location of a large company. Participants were selected purposefully. The core part of the qualitative study was conducting 26 individual semi-structured interviews. The analysis of the data was based on grounded theory procedures. The data indicates that while teaching the practice of leadership behavior generates a variety of benefits, these benefits can sometimes go unnoticed by managers. Meanwhile, a distinction can be made between non-leadership and leadership benefits of leadership training. Leadership benefits relate to the development of individual participants of the program, as well as translate into relationships and the quality and quantity of work performed. In addition, the managers of these programs, except in individual cases, do not measure and analyze the effectiveness of training effects in a standardized manner, which may effectively limit the development of the category of benefits from investment in the leadership development of an individual employee or the potential of these programs, or make it impossible to indicate the direction and scope of improvements necessary to maintain or improve their effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44625753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, humanity is on the verge of an ecological catastrophe which will have extremely serious socio-economic consequences. In the face of contemporary challenges of sustainable development, there is a need for a rapid and radical change in the approach of business to people and the natural environment. In this context, the concept of sustainable business models deserves attention, as it extends the existing understanding of the role of business in solving social and environmental problems. The aim of the article is to analyze the current state of knowledge and present the basic concepts, assumptions and definitions of sustainable business models. This is a review paper. The adopted research method is ananalysis and synthesis of English-language literature sources. At the beginning, the article indicates the place of research on sustainable business models in contemporary scientific works. Next, attention is paid to the concept of value as an element combining the logic of a business model and a sustainable business model. In the main part, various approaches and attempts to define sustainable business models and criteria for this type of projects are analyzed and presented. The role and types of innovation in sustainable business models are also presented. Finally, the evolution of the approaches to sustainable business models is considered, as well as the ways in which this concept might develop in the future.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43734269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article aims at showing the impact of lifelong learning opportunities on job satisfaction. The quantitative research was carried out among employees of Dean’s offices in Polish public and private universities. The study used the MOAQ-JSS job satisfaction questionnaire, the satisfaction with remuneration questionnaire, and the proprietary lifelong learning questionnaire. The statistical effect of mediation was examined using the regression analysis method. The impact of learning opportunities offered by the employer on job satisfaction was noted. Satisfaction with remuneration turned out to be a partial mediator of this dependence. Satisfaction with remuneration, in turn, increases job satisfaction. These dependencies are independent of the age of the employees. The article contributes to a better understanding of the factors influencing job satisfaction and the motivational role of lifelong learning.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44012357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These individuals are the young generation who will enter the labor market, and their decisions will affect social and economic processes. The article is based on the results of empirical research carried out as part of the project “New Generation in the New Economy”. The project aims to develop a methodology for cyclical assessment of the economic preparedness of youth for technological revolutions. The research team have developed tools that successfully simulate future challenges which the young generation will face while choosing their career paths. The results presented in this study are based on the task entitled “Self-organization of work and planning activities”. The task is structured according to the idea that realization of plans is possible only when an individual can put them into practice, facilitating economic and social success. The results of the study have shown that students, while remaining in the current education system, have not acquired the analyzed competences at a sufficient level.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41439733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As part of an innovation plan, the process of production data acquisition was restructured, by means of IT (Information Technology), into an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. The introduction of an HMI panel made it possible to digitalize data acquisition and operation reporting to the ERP system. The digital transformation of the SME 4.0 company was modelled on the Industry 4.0 trend solutions. The specialized model, developed according to RAMI 4.0 (Reference Architecture Model Industry 4.0), effected change of a partial and local nature in the enterprise. The data is now entered directly into the production area by the employees on the technological line, once they have logged in to the ERP system. Access to digital production data obtained from a SSOT (single source of truth) benefited all those who used the ERP system. A postimplementation analysis of a two-year application of the restructured data acquisition process indicates the business areas which profit from digital operational data acquisition and higher quality production reporting.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49538262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
