The present study was designed to identify the socioeconomic \u0000characteristics of the respondents, cultural practices, profitability and problems and constraints faced by the rice-cum-fish farmers. Sherpur district was selected for the study on the basis of extensive cultivation of rice-cum-fish \u0000culture. The simple random sampling technique was used for primary data collection from 40 rice-cum-fish farmers \u0000through semi-structured interview schedule. Both tabular and functional analyses were used to analyze the \u0000collected data. Socioeconomic analysis showed that 37.5% of the respondents were aged between 41-50 years, \u000012.5% of the respondents were illiterate, 55.7% respondent’s primary occupation was agriculture and 50% of the \u0000household annual income was between Tk. 150000-250000. The study also showed that about 42.5% of farmers \u0000have their own plot, 62.5% of farmers cultured fish in the paddy field commercially, 55% farmers were engaged \u0000with monoculture, 47.5% of the respondents collected their fingerling from private hatcheries, monosex tilapia was \u0000mainly cultured in the paddy field and 70% respondents used ready feed for feeding. The profitability analysis \u0000showed that per hectare gross return, net return, and gross margin was found to be Tk. 355180, Tk. 230879, Tk.\u0000246179, respectively. Undiscounted benefit- cost ratio was found to be 2.86. The study also identified some of the \u0000problems and constraints associated with rice-cum-fish culture. About 97.5% and 95% of the respondents replied \u0000that lack of good quality seed and fingerling and lack of extension services were their main problems, respectively. \u0000Rice-cum-fish farming is the new option for rural people to improve their livelihood. It can be detected earlier and \u0000survival rate can be improved by screening every year. Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is the one of the best method s\u0000for identifying breast cancer. Rural population has less access to medical facilities and their knowledge is low. \u0000Therefore, it is essential to educate them about breast cancer, its prevention and early detection. This study was \u0000aimed to assess the knowledge level of females regarding breast cancer and breast self-examination. Materials &\u0000Methods: Non experimental descriptive design was adopted for this study. 80 samples were selected through non \u0000probability sampling technique and the setting of the study was a rural community of Idukki district, Kerala. A \u0000structured knowledge questionnaire was used for data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to \u0000analyse the data. Results: Majority, 57.5% of samples were having an average level of knowledge, 27.5% of samples\u0000had good level of knowledge and 8.7% of samples had poor knowledge and 7.5% was found havingexcellent level of \u0000knowledge. A significant association was observed between the knowledge and education (X2=14.061, P 0.05=12.54), \u0000knowledge and income (X2 =14.42, P 0.05=12.59) of women. Aim: To determine the level of knowledge regarding alcoholism and its ill effects among \u0000final year DMLT (Diploma in Medical Technology) students and to associate the knowledge level with baseline \u0000proforma. Methods and materials: A quantitative research design was adopted. This non-experimental descriptive \u0000study was conducted in St. John’s College of Paramedical Sciences in Idukki, Kerala. Thirty final year DMLT students \u0000were included in the study by using convenient sampling technique. A self-structured knowledge questionnaire was \u0000used to assess their knowledge on alcoholism and its ill effects. VTE includes the manifestation of deep vein thrombosis and its fatal complication pulmonary embolism. \u0000To assess the development of VTE among post sclerotherapy patients, a descriptive retrospective research \u0000design was adopted. Random sampling technique was used to select 1000 post sclerotherapy patients who \u0000were undergone review for 3 months. The results depicted that most of the samples fell under the age group \u0000between 50 and 60 years, body mass index more than 25Kg/m2\u0000and majority were females. This study will help to evaluate the level of stress \u0000that faced by them and use of coping skills. Thus this will be a guide for planning and teaching effective coping \u0000methods to the targeted population. Aim: To assess the stress and coping among the wives of alcoholics. Methods: \u0000A quantitative research approach was used for the present study. The sample consisted of 50 wives of alcoholics, \u0000selected using purposive sampling technique. The tools used for the study were modified perceived stress scale and\u0000coping with drinking questionnaire. Results: The outcome of the study revealed that 98% of the wives of alcoholics \u0000had moderate level of stress and 2% of the wives of alcoholics had mild level of stress. Structured questionnaire \u0000was used to assess levels of knowledge and attitude regarding life style modification. Descriptive and inferential \u0000statistics were used for analysis and interpretation of data. Findingsof the study showed that the pre-test mean value \u0000for levels of knowledge was 15.8 and post-test mean value was 32. The mean difference was 16.2. The computed ‘t’ \u0000value (‘t’ = 14) was higher than table value (3.66) at p< 0.001 level.
