We consider the behavior of transmitting powers of SUs where those powers are limited to the tolerable interference as seen by the primary user (PU) communication. To improve the performance of the secondary communication based on minimizing the outage probability, we re-formulate the power allocation problem with a new set of constraints. These are obtained by considering the co-channel interference generated by the SU communication to the PU communication. The power allocation problem is solved for both regenerative and non regenerative relay models under Rayleigh fading conditions. SU communication with N number of relays is discussed and compared. The outage probability of SU communication is limited by the interference power threshold (IPT) constraints of PUs and is affected significantly by the IPT levels of PUs.","PeriodicalId":417714,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125127344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it has been a challenge to support high speed (e.g. above 350 km/h) mobile users with broadband communications, because of rapidly fading radio channels and Doppler frequency shift. This paper presents a review of network architectures providing broadband access to high-speed trains. A novel scheme referred as multimode multi-band and multi-system-based access architecture is proposed in this paper. It consists of three parts: (1) train network part that relays data to large number of users in carriages without changing their own terminals, (2) ground network part that deals with traffic from different operators' networks, and (3) ground-to-train network part that connects the train network and ground network. Moreover, this architecture could support high mobility with broad bandwidth, seamless handover, scalable and cost-effective deployment.","PeriodicalId":417714,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131381550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposed a kind of real-time transmission model for high speed train end-to-end control data operation, which based on circuit switched data service by traditional wireless network access to transmit simultaneous instructions between the train operation control system and locomotive. In order to support this end-to-end real-time data application, we have studied a circuit domain latency model and improved a Simple Tunnel Protocol technology to accelerate data service which is easy to be implemented in the network. We have analyzed the performance under different service pressure by using MMPP (Markov Modulation Poisson Process) to describe service traffic pattern and employed a priority scheduling algorithm to estimate approximate service latency. The system simulation showed that data transmission latency should be reduced in busy time by the way of service priority scheduling. Although it might introduce extra traffic expenses and require reservation certain protection circuit, the average standby time probability could be cut down significantly.","PeriodicalId":417714,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131533026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One key factor in achieving high data throughputs is the average signal intensity of the scattered signals that may be achieved by using one or multiple scatterers. Precise scattered signal measurements carried out in a 1 GHz band centered around 29.5 GHz with single or multiple scatterers have led to the conclusion that there exists an approximate relationship of proportionality between the average received signal intensity expressed in dB and the sum of scatterer cross section per unit length. Measurements of the frequency response of NLOS indoor propagation channels were performed for three different laterally-positioned receive antenna locations and used for single-input multiple output (SIMO) studies. Based on these measurements, OFDM data transmission streams were simulated. It was determined that individual subchannels of the OFDM data transmission stream suffered distortions to various degrees resulting in the unsuitability of some subchannels for data transmission. Using the technique of post-discrete Fourier transform (post-DFT) multiple subcarrier selection (MSCS), it was found that data throughputs comparable to those achievable under quasi-perfect propagation conditions could be obtained in NLOS indoor channels provided that the sum of the scatterer cross sections was of sufficient magnitude. Signal-level and error-rate metrics were used for the selection of OFDM subcarriers.","PeriodicalId":417714,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130187822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The optimal user scheduling involves an exhaustive search, which is very complex. Among various suboptimal but lower complexity algorithms, greedy algorithms with heuristic scheduling metrics have been shown to achieve performance close to the exhaustive search. In this paper, we propose two simplified algorithms: interference-aware greedy user scheduling (IA-GUS) and interference-whitening greedy user scheduling (IW-GUS). IA-GUS schedules the users based on the information on interference power of the selected users in surrounding cooperating clusters, and IW-GUS schedules the users based on the information on whitened channels of all users requesting the service in the cluster. IA-GUS has lower complexity and performs better than IW- GUS. Simplified metrics for proportionally fair (PF) scheduling are also proposed. Performance of the proposed algorithms is analyzed and compared with dirty paper coding (DPC), block diagonalization (BD) and systems without network coordination. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms for SZF achieve much higher outage capacity compared to BD with previously proposed algorithms.","PeriodicalId":417714,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133354696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, a handoff decision is made based on received signal strength (RSS) values from the current base station (BS) and neighboring BSs. In the traditional mobile communication systems, measured RSS directly indicates the quality of the communication link because the same transmission/reception technologies are utilized for all devices. However, emerging cellular systems are defined to utilize various transmission/reception technologies, e.g., Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO), and different BSs and MSs might be capable of different technologies. Because RSSs do not indicate the quality of the link directly in such cases, we here propose to use a new metric, called effective SNR for handoff decision and show that the proposed scheme significantly improves the system performance when heterogeneous types of devices co-exist in the network.","PeriodicalId":417714,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133753224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a novel adaptive call admission control (CAC) scheme is prposed for two classes of calls for a cellular wireless network consisting of two cells. The proposed scheme accepts a new call if it can guarantee, with a certain probability, that a user's call will be maintained irrespective of its (his/her) movement in the system. The adaptive scheme for two-cell wireless network is then extended for multiple-cell network. The adaptive scheme is found to outperform the nonpriority and dual threshold based reservation (DTR) schemes in controlling the handoff failure and new call blocking probabilities in a cellular wireless network.","PeriodicalId":417714,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133954249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel method is proposed to derive the exact and closed form expressions of outage probability in the presence of multiple Nakagami independent cochannel interference. Unlike some previous conclusions, the method proposed in this paper is not only usable with various integer Nakagami fading parameters or average powers but also presents exact derivation of outage probability. To circumvent the difficulties, proper iteration functions are adopted by studying and integrating the definitions without numerical integration and residue calculation. The method generally deals with the cases that with or without minimum level constraint at the receiver for satisfactory reception.
