This method is based on the a priori application of minimum information (maximum entropy method MEM) of the random properties of the geometry of the multi conductor transmission lines and of the excitation signals. This model was used to analyze the electromagnetic coupling a printer circuit board with two microstrip on a ground plane, it is the typical three conductors transmission line. This is important to deeply understand the operation of these devices. For the P-type diodes, it is found that the operation is always according to the conventional IMPATT mode. The depletion-layer-width modulation is the main factor responsible for the lower efficiency. This effect causes the induced current to undergo a dip at the worst time in the cycle and delays the extraction of the carriers. It is indicated that the velocity-field characteristic of N-type InP material is the main factor responsible for the high-efficiency operation of N-type IMPATTs. During this high-efficiency operation, the avalanche-generated packet of electrons is bunched and accelerated. It may also be prematurely collected. This antenna can operate in parallel at two distinct frequency bands that are commonly used in nowadays communication systems, viz., the GSM and DCS 1800, at the operating frequencies of 0.9 GHz and 1.8 GHz, respectively. To increase its compactness, the proposed antenna is operated in quart-wave mode by inserting the shorting strips, as well as a slot which separates the operating frequencies. The antenna has the advantages of being physically compact and easy to manufacture. This expression, however, does not take into account the polarization, only the phase and magnitude of the field. A design consists of specifying the diameter, the pitch angle and the number of turns. A computer program called Helix Design is presented for developing specific designs for a helix antenna over an infinite ground plane. Assuming that the circumference of the helix is one wavelength in the center of the bandwidth, Helix Design identifies all combinations of pitch and turns that meet the specification. The enhanced version of Helix Design described in this paper lets the user terminate the helix with a tapered “matching section”, and compare the performance of helices without and with the matching section. The Helix Design program can create a movie of the antenna performance as a function of frequency over the specified bandwidth. We develop a physical optics-based scheme that allows the computation and summation of reflections from different parts of a structure. These reflections arrive at different angles at the near-field observation point. This is in contrast to the far-field case where all the reflections arrive at the same angle at the observation point at infinity. Our aim is to make a switch that operates from dc to 40 GHz with low insertion loss and high isolation. The, electrostatically activated, switch is based on a coplanar waveguide design with a cantilever or bridge mounted contact to open and close the switch. The fabrication process is not reliable yet, but we have made a working switch with an on state insertion loss less than 0.3 dB and an off state isolation of 45 dB at 4 GHz.
