Due to the sensitive reaction to social changes, the history of design shows us evolutionary processes through the subject forms surrounding a person. The assumption that objects are a kind of cultural quintessence, demonstrating to us the level of technology development, consumer preferences, and methods of designing and shaping, reinforces the need for a comprehensive and multi-aspect consideration of evolutionary processes in the history of design. In this regard, the author refers to modern methods of considering historical and cultural processes and applies them to the history of design, taking into account the specifics of the object under consideration. As a result, the article discusses the transition from a monolinear approach to the consideration of historical processes to a multilinear one using the history of design as an example. It is proposed to study the history of design as a single multilinear process, consisting of relatively independent movements (lines) of design, linked into a single design and art system with common features (art-style, formal-compositional, etc.) and development trends. The conceptual historical and theoretical model of multilinear historical development of design reflects the specifics of design as a complex type of design and artistic activity and the features of its development at the modern post-industrial stage of society development. The article also formulates the basic principles of a multilinear representation of the history of design, such as "phenomenological principle", "historical-geographic principle", "phenomenal-geographic principle", "principle of interrelated design profiles", "principle of multilevel matrix", i.e. the principles forming the basis of the historical-theoretical model of design history.

The author of the article refers to the history of the formation of the Nenets language. The data of the all-Russian population census for 2002 and 2010 are presented for a comparative analysis of the deterioration of the situation in the language environment of the NAO over a period of eight years. A comparative analysis of the knowledge of the Nenets language in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug is carried out. The problems and challenges currently facing in the language environment of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug are analyzed. Methods of forming a positive image of the Nenets language among young Nenets living in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug are proposed. An example of the developed calligraphy handwritings with brushes as a game method for learning the Nenets language among children and adolescents is given. The results of the creative competition among the youth of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug for the period October-December 2019 are analyzed. Finally, the conclusions on the competition and the project as a whole and new tasks for the continuation of the project are presented. Research prospects are included in scaling the methodology for popularizing the national language into other languages of small indigenous peoples.

Garin
The article presents the study of the design application, namely practical use of the elements of the traditional culture of Ob Ugric people, that include scenic compositions of rites and rituals as well as contextual attributes and decorations (ornaments). The research goal is to formulate a method of design interpretation that provides for ethically and efficiently embedment of elements of traditional culture into the semantic and image-bearing field of contemporary multicultural reality. This method is expected to further address the challenge of the deliberate development of a new/hybrid culture in the studied region (and, in a broad sense, in the entire territory of the Russian North). The novelty of the research is the detailed exploration of structural elements of the chosen culture in combination with the synchronous selection of tools, such as concepts of social and human sciences, as well as the means of a design that include formal, spatial, social, economic, ecological and technological representations. \u0000The basic methodology for analyzing research materials a systemic approach and structural elements of culture such as ornaments, rituals, and rituals were examined in a united figurative and semantic context. The combination of the methods of historical analysis and field ethnography allowed to identify the content and evolution of the studied phenomenon, as well as to consider individual cultural patterns and actions in real place and time. \u0000The proposed method of interpretation includes two following logical steps of identification: (1) the non-changeable content of the cultural core, which provides an inherent connection with the environment where the given culture takes place, and (2) the outer layer (material shell) that is available for transformation/modernization. As a result, the proposed method is presented through, first, the theoretical principles of a proper design interpretation based on the existing examples of cultural borrowings (with the case of traditional ornaments); and second, an educational experiment of designing a new Northern culture through borrowing and interpreting the traditional festivity “The Crow’s Day,” with a potential implementation within the local tourism industry. \u0000The final part describes the broad research relevance of the findings, along with the limitations and directions for further research.

Regeneration is the transforming of degraded urban areas. The main methods and techniques of solving the research problem are the analysis of modern urban areas subjected to gentrification. \u0000The deindustrialization, starting from the 1970-1980s, is typical for the cities of Western Europe and the United States of America. This phenomenon was initiated by economic globalization; the national industrial system based on competitiveness is degraded; a new model of economic development is oriented on the financial and credit industry and the service sector. \u0000The term «gentrification» can be translated as a "refinement", i.e. increasing the level of attractiveness of area for rent and accommodation. \u0000This is applicable for different objects: from individual buildings to the regions of city, those are unfavourable or degraded due to socio-economic and natural factors. \u0000In this article is devoted to the processes of transformation of urban industrial zones; the possibility of reformation of the territories of former industrial enterprises for the nowadays needs of the city. \u0000The detailed study of gentrification is accomplished for the High Line Park and conclusions on a benefit of this process are shown.
