Domínguez","doi":"10.4013/arq.2020.161.05","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4013/arq.2020.161.05","url":null,"abstract":"The Poble Espanyol in Montjuic is an enclosure where the architectural tradition of the towns of Spain is recreated through the appropriation of the typical elements of its architecture. It was built for the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona in 1929 and still survives as a distribution center for popular handicrafts, as well as a space for leisure and culture. To carry out the realization of the Poble ’s project, a series of travels were made to Spain between 1927 and 1928, where hundreds of photographs, notes and travel sketches in notebooks were taken, which until today remain hidden. The main topic of the present investigation is the demonstration that the trips were essential in the final result of the project; without which it would have been very different. The travels gave the Poble a complexity to overcome the generalized schematization of analogous projects. To achieve our goal, the collection, classification and analysis of all the material that was collected during the travels, extracted from public and private funds, including the discovery of unpublished material: the travel notebooks, that allows us to deepen in the ‘making off’ of the Poble Espanyol, were made . Tremendous efforts were made to promote seven new universities or ‘plateglass universities’, to use the term coined by Michael Beloff in 1968. This achievement was possible thanks to the close cooperation of interdisciplinary teams in which architects endeavoured to translate educational goals into built works. Existing literature examines the situation before, during and after this great undertaking from sociological and teaching viewpoints, and also takes a closer look at architectural works of note. However, there are few comparative studies of accommodation, and this paper is the first one to compare the architecture of student accommodation and its crucial contribution to university education at the seven plateglass universities. The authors have redrawn and compared the plans of student housing at the seven universities under study, and then analysed them with regard to their respective architectural and urban projects. The findings offer  critical insight into how student residences contributed to campus design and placed particular emphasis on the private and community spheres of student life . Based on a bibliographical review of authors describing the urban design changes in that city — each with a different focus on their research — and from the analysis of images such as maps and photographs, the article reveals the transformations of the urban landscape due the implantation and redesign of the avenus and their reflections in the idealization of modernization created for the city. The unveiling of the design of the first avenues of local importance, such as Getulio Vargas and Senhor dos Passos, and the arising and transformations of others, such as Noide Cerqueira avenue, will be demonstrated, in order to discuss the city that reconnects by these urban landmarks, metamorphosing and remodeling. The unbridled search for the reduction of the houses has reflected in the low spatial quality of the houses, glimpsed in the difficulty of mobilizing and circulating between the rooms. The literature discusses, however, what resources are needed to guarantee functionality without housing design. They are aspects related to the program, to the compartmentalization of the dwelling, its minimum areas and dimensions and, above all, the relation of the minimum furniture necessary for the accomplishment of the domestic activities, as well as the necessary area for its use and for the circulation in the spaces of the dwelling. Therefore, for the development of functional housing projects, it is necessary to know the set of furniture and equipment required in the performance of the various domestic activities, in their dimensional and use characteristics. And this is the central objective of this work: to check in the popular trade the dimensions of the minimum furniture of the house, and, with this data, to elaborate a family of parametric objects for Building Information Modeling (BIM), composed of all the necessary basic furniture items in a house. The research is of a practical nature, applied nature and oriented to the prescription, and was systematized in three main stages: (1) understanding of the theme; (2) data collection; (3) artifact construction: BIM family of popular furniture. As a result, initially, a comparative analysis is presented between the dimensions of the furniture found in commerce with what is indicated in the specialized literature. Then, this furniture is made available for download as Autodesk Revit-compatible family files. Finally, the applicability of this material is illustrated in design analysis. Thus, the research affirms its relevance by making available a material that is of great use for a better project practice, especially those of HIS, available to the academic community and other stakeholders. A metodologia adotada e teorico-empirica, tendo por base a realizacao de revisao bibliografica e de visitas de campo, com registro em diario de bordo, realizadas no Centro Socioeducativo Sao Francisco de Assis, na cidade de Governador Valadares (MG). Tomam-se como referencia neste estudo as contribuicoes teoricas de autores que discutem adequacoes de luz natural em projetos de arquitetura. Os aspectos quantitativos nao fazem parte da proposta do trabalho em questao. Observou-se como um dos principais problemas arquitetonicos da Unidade campo do estudo a existencia de pouca luminosidade nos espacos internos. Assim, este trabalho propoe tipologias de abertura para a insercao de iluminacao natural no interior dos espacos. Arquitectura, urbanismo, diseno, ambientes, arte. Madrid-Barcelona-Bilbao en el panorama editorial espanol de los anos sesenta supuso la publicacion de mas de una treintena de articulos sobre arquitectura y arte gestado en el territorio vasco y navarro. Arquitectos y artistas de diferentes generaciones, como Jose Manuel Aizpurua, Teodoro Anasagasti, Victor Eusa, Rafael Aburto, Luis Pena Ganchegui, Rafael Moneo, Jorge Oteiza, Eduardo Chillida o Nestor Basterretxea, vieron su obra publicada en numeros monograficos y con ello su obra contextualizada y puesta en relacion con tendencias arquitectonicas y artisticas internacionales. Asimismo, el desarrollo urbanistico de la ciudad de Bilbao conto con cuatro numeros monograficos. Las paginas de la revista sirvieron de plataforma para paliar la falta de sentimiento colectivo y de critica en el ambito vasco-navarro, esencialmente como consecuencia de la inexistencia de una escuela de arquitectura y del caracter intermitente de muchas de las trayectorias destacadas. Nueva Forma asumio la tarea de difundir la obra de figuras destacadas de este territorio como un compromiso de cultura, lo que permitio, por un lado, transmitir la cultura arquitectonica vasca y navarra en el resto de Espana, y muy especialmente en Madrid, ciudad en la que se editaba la revista, y, por otro lado, crear una genealogia de nombres sobresalientes, construyendo con ello un tercer foco cultural tan relevante para la cultura arquitectonica espanola como los de Madrid o Barcelona. This scenario generates the need to design and construct more efficient buildings and also requires new policies and incentives. The greatest opportunities for integrating energy efficiency strategies in construction occur at the design stage, in which decisions that will have significant impacts on the building’s life cycle are taken. Therefore, the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is considered, as well as parametric design: new design technologies that allow the analysis of multiple scenarios to support the decisions during the design stage. The purpose of this study is to provide, through a literature analysis, an overview about practical applications of BIM and parametric design for buildings’ energy efficiency in a recent research scenario. Studies were categorized according to their main approach and the main software used. In addition, benefits provided by the use of the technologies adopted were highlighted. El articulo expone los resultados de una evaluacion de los programas adelantados en la ciudad de Bogota, de 1972 a 2010, mediante un estudio de casos seleccionados en funcion de su localizacion, origen, tamano, poblacion y relacion con los lideres barriales. A partir de variables de enfoques (sociales, economicos y espaciales) se aplicaron metodos de la investigacion empirica para recopilar la informacion, se realizaron consultas y talleres con los actores involucrados, y se elaboraron de forma conjunta “lineas de tiempo”. Los resultados han permitido demostrar la falta de vision integral y de reconocimiento a la identidad del barrio popular, las ventajas de los procesos autonomos y la tendencia a generar dinamicas de segregacion entre los barrios formales y los informales. Por sua vez, as proposicoes teoricas de Eduard Franz Sekler e Kenneth Frampton, bem como de Heinrich Wolfflin e Harry Mallgrave, no campo da tectonica, embasam esta investigacao, que tem como objeto de analise o Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro (MAM-Rio). Para tanto, essa analise assume a forma-estrutura como um principio projetual e se desdobra por meio das seguintes categorias: imposicao da forma, legibilidade estrutural e materialidade estrutural. Tais categorias sintetizam a transdisciplinaridade desejada, tornando possivel observar as diferentes expressoes tectonicas que se manifestam no edificio para alem dos processos construtivos e do caminho de cargas chegando, no limite, a configurar uma expressao empatica que, consequentemente, permite nao so ressignificar certa compreensao do MAM-Rio, mas sobretudo da propria nocao de expressao tectonica. This raises the need to rethink pedagogical approaches and teaching strategies to prepare future architects against the worsening of environmental and social problems. On the other hand, the gradual immersion, forced or spontaneous, of architecture in the scientific field, creates the need to document and systematize the research process appropriate to the discipline and, at the same time, consider the creative process of architectural work. This article presents the research-creation process proposed by the Universidad de la Costa in Barranquilla (Colombia), with the aim of contributing to the discussion and the broadening of the state of the art on the subject. In the end, a method of learning the architectural project with a research approach is proposed, which aims to strengthen the student's ability to solve the problem, given the complexity of human and environmental needs.
