This often leads to sub-optimal results in enterprise WLAN with a large number of users. Therefore, network operators expects the ability to dominate AP association selection and AP handoff initiation so that better AP/client association can be achieved. In addition, AP handoff procedure involves time-consuming packets exchange. Although many methods have been proposed to simplify AP handoff procedures, there is at least hundreds of milliseconds during which client's data transmission is blocked. In this paper, we proposed the abstraction of “One Big AP” in which unmodified 802.11-compliant client is tricked into believing that there is one access point with very large coverage, while the AP that sends and receives its packets has changed. To support the“One Big AP” illusion, we leveraged the emerging idea of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) to reform the architecture of enterprise WLAN. In the SDN-based architecture, we can easily realize network-controlled AP association and client-transparent AP handoff. We demonstrated the feasibility and efficiency of our solution through simulation.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123693152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two new algorithms based on singular value decomposition (SVD) and fractional lower order statistics are proposed. The proposed methods rebuild a matrix by using the eigenvector corresponding to the largest eigenvalue obtained from the fractional lower order statistics matrix of the received data, then the auto-covariance matrix of the rebuilt matrix can be obtained. The noise subspace can be gained by SVD of the matrix which is reconstructed by the equal of the obtained auto-covariance and its complex-conjugation inversion. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods for estimation DOA of the coherent sources in impulsive noise.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121913613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of the integer nature of channel, most of the current reservation schemes were based on integer. However, the number of reserved channels of integer reservation schemes can't be adequately adjusted as a result of optimizing the system performance. In this paper, we model the cognitive radio network as a two-dimensional Markov process, which overcomes the restriction of integer nature of channel. Then two fractional reservation schemes are realized. One is fractional channel reservation for primary user (FCRPU), the other is fractional channel reservation for handoff secondary user (FCRHSU), both of which can solve the trade-off problem above very well. The precision of analytical results is validated by Monte Carlo Simulations, on the strength of which we come to the conclusion that fractional channel reservation scheme and the FCRHSU scheme can achieve better performances than the integer one and the FCRPU one, respectively.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125012175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is challenging to provide satisfactory performance in such systems, due to the sporadic energy arrival and the low harvesting rate. In this paper, we propose a novel cooperation strategy for EH networks with the help of multiple EH relays, each of a steady but low harvesting rate. Different relays will take turns to assist the source-destination transmission, and thus energy diversity can be achieved. To provide steady communications, we formulate the design problem as to maximize the minimum utility during the considered transmission duration, which, however, is NP-hard. We propose a general framework to develop efficient suboptimal algorithms, which consists of 1) a sufficient condition for the feasibility of the optimization problem and 2) an efficient bisection algorithm to find a suboptimal solution. Simulation results will show that the proposed cooperation strategy can provide significant power gains over the direct link transmission, and the proposed suboptimal algorithm can provide near-optimal performance. Compared to the best-effort cooperation that only optimizes the current transmission block, the proposed strategy can achieve the same performance with much fewer relays.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122101604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the traffic load, neighboring base stations (BSs) cooperate to optimize the BS switching (sleeping) strategies so as to maximize the energy saving while guaranteeing users' minimal service requirements. An interaction graph is defined to capture the network impact of the BS switching operation. Then, we formulate the problem of energy saving as a constrained graphic game, where each BS acts as a game player with the constraint of traffic load. The constrained graphic game is proved to be an exact constrained potential game. Furthermore, we prove the existence of a generalized Nash equilibrium (GNE), and the best GNE coincides with the optimal solution of total energy consumption minimization. Accordingly, we design a decentralized iterative algorithm to find the best GNE (i.e., the global optimum), where only local information exchange among the neighboring BSs is needed. Simulation results finally illustrate the convergence and optimality of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123515894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the fact that there exist a large number of the non-standard GBFs available, this paper focuses on the conversion from a non-standard GBF to 16-QAM CSs. By improving Chong, et al's construction, we present a new construction in which one of its inputs is the non-standard GBFs. For a given non-standard GBF, the number of the resultant 16-QAM CSs is determined as well. The proposed sequences can be applied to a CDMA or an OFDM communication system so as to remove multiple access interference (MAI) or to reduce peak-to-mean envelope power ratio (PMEPR), respectively.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122196054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes the overall architecture of the node as well as the hardware and software modules design. A motion sensing system is designed for testing the performance of the motion sensor node. The system can capture 3-axis acceleration data and transmit data by low-power Bluetooth to a PC or a mobile client. The TI single-mode chip CC2540 is used as the communication core chip in this system. Moreover, TI MSP430F5340 and ST LIS3DH are used as the primary controller and the motion sensor. The system consists of a USB dongle communication node and three motion sensor nodes to achieve three motion sensor data while communicating with the USB dongle. The results show that the node is stable with a strong practical value. The system used in the field of physical exercise not only eliminates the physical limitations imposed by hardwired links, but also reduces the height of the system of long-term power consumption.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116462838","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A path-based channel model which is described by delay, angle of arrival (AOA), and attenuation factor is used in this article. It is popular to assume such MIMO channels are sparse both in the delay-domain and angle-domain, and CS based method can be applied to solve the sparse channel estimation problem. The proposed sparse channel estimation algorithm is divided into three stages. We first find the positions of non-zero taps in time domain and then estimate elevation angle and azimuth angle on each tap jointly. At last, attenuation factor on each tap is obtained. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves more effective channel estimation performance compared to least square (LS) estimation.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115092927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The charrelation matrix is a generalization of covariance matrix, encompassing statistical information beyond second-order while maintaining a convenient 2-dimensional structure. The core functions of charrelation matrices in different processing-points are stacked as a three-order tensor, and then tucker decomposition of tensor is executed to estimate the mixing matrix. In addition, smart meters and smart appliances, which are the limited-resources home devices, cannot implement complex computation operations. In this paper, we propose a lightweight privacy-preserving aggregation scheme that permits the smart appliances to aggregate their readings without involving the smart meter. The scheme deploys a lightweight lattice-based homomorphic cryptosystem that depends on simple addition and multiplication operations. Security analysis and performance evaluation demonstrate that the proposed scheme guarantees the customers' privacy and message integrity with lightweight overhead.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134006801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
