This cooperation enables to obtain diversity gain with consuming neither extra energy nor extra bandwidth by exploiting the relay's proximity advantage over the destination. We analyze the proposed approach in terms of outage probability. Computer simulations confirm the theoretical analysis and show that the DHF cooperation can achieve the diversity order of two (full diversity) in typical three node cooperation scenario. We also investigate the effect of geometrical arrangement and reveal that the advantageous region of DHF cooperation over the direct transmission without the energy harvesting relay.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126373530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, conceivable spectrum sensing errors may deteriorate the quality of service provided for users. In this paper, we propose a framework to analyze the per-user throughput of both primary users and secondary users. Based on this framework, we further estimate how sensing errors influence the throughput in cognitive radio networks. To this end, stochastic network calculus is employed as a basic tool, which is a powerful theory for quality of service analysis of computer networks. Impairment processes of service are introduced to construct the service models for both primary users and secondary users. Then per-user throughput bounds of both primary users and secondary users are obtained after considering arrival process of primary users. Numerical result shows that sensing errors play a decisive role on the upper bound of primary users' throughput, while have less impact on the lower bound of secondary users' throughput.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131864634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the source cooperates with intermediate nodes for secure information transfer when multiple eavesdroppers exist. We propose a three-step cooperative scheme, whereby the source selects partners and stimulates them for secure communications by paying an amount of reward. Specifically, a set of partners are selected first, each of which acts as a relay or a jammer. Then, the source and the selected partners negotiate for the payment and transmission powers, which is modeled as a two-layer game. On the top layer, a buyer-seller game is utilized, where the source pays to buy the service provided by the partners. On the bottom layer, all the partners share the reward by determining their transmission powers in a distributed way, which is formulated as a non-cooperative power selection game. By analyzing the game, the partners can determine the transmission powers for cooperation, while the source can select the best payment. The source and the partners then perform cooperative secure communication according to the results of negotiation. Simulation results are provided to validate and show the performance of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114056434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Contemporary research works have traditionally dealt with these two problems in an isolated manner though they should be considered within the same problem formulation. Furthermore, though deployment of additional APs can improve the network capacity in case there are a few APs in a given area, the APs cannot be indefinitely added to the wireless network. This means that there is an upper bound to the network capacity maximization with respect to the number of APs. In fact, the network capacity starts to dramatically decrease when the number of deployed APs becomes excessive. This performance decrease can be accredited to the substantial interference among the high number of deployed APs. A more fundamental insight into the joint issue and its affect on capacity, in signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) is required. In order to address this challenge, in this paper, we propose an approach to jointly optimize the number of APs and POCs assignment. Our proposal derives the existence of the upper bound of the density of APs with POCs, and models the POC assignment to the deployed APs from a novel perspective. Computer-based simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposal.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127921433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interference link from CU to the D2D receiver can be considered as the eavesdropping link in the sense that the D2D receiver may try to decode the cellular user's message. The proposed scheme aims to optimize the achievable secrecy data rate of CU when guaranteeing the quality-of-service (QoS) requirement of the D2D link. In particular, for a given D2D pair, we propose an secure region of the CU partner, where the physical layer security of the CU partner can be guaranteed. The D2D link is not allowed to share the spectrum with CU residing outside the secure region. Furthermore, an optimal power allocation algorithm is designed to optimize the secrecy capacity of CU. Numerical results are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme and verify the characterization of the secure region.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121268379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, anti-interference ranging methods are urgently needed in APNT systems. Fast frequency hopping technology can provide strong resistance to radio interference for APNT systems. However, it is hard to get accurate range estimate from measurements of one hop because the residence time and the baseband width are limited in fast frequency hopping systems. In this paper, we propose a new phase-based ranging method for fast frequency hopping system, which is called Time-Frequency Matrix Ranging (TFMR). By TFMR, we can combine measurements of multi-hops to achieve high accuracy of range estimate. We present DFT-based and FFT-based estimators for different scenarios respectively. Different estimate accuracies are achieved by using matrices in different sizes. We calculate the Cramer Rao lower bounds (CRLB), which can provide a benchmark for selecting matrices with different signal-to-noise ratio.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"60 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127382890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, managing energy efficiency should be the first priority for mobile terminals. In this paper, our aim is to improve the users' energy efficiency in heterogeneous network environments. To this end, we propose a network selection mechanism that exploits both user and network context information in order to efficiently utilize the radio wireless resources in heterogeneous network. The mechanism enables the multi-mode mobile terminal to select and connect to the network of attachment that maximizes its average energy efficiency and guarantees a supported quality of service for its connections. The performance of the proposed mechanism is compared against the maximum battery lifetime scheme and priority LTE access scheme in terms of the energy consumption, the throughput and the energy efficiency. According to simulation results, the system that employs the proposed network selection mechanism achieves better performance improvement in improving the user average throughput and energy efficiency.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128178566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is assumed that the source-satellite (S-D) link and the relay-satellite (R-D) link experience independent shadowed Rician fading, and the source-relay (S-R) link experiences Rayleigh fading. The maximal ratio combining technique is used at the destination to combine the direct signal from the source and the relayed signal from the relay with different relaying protocols, such as amplify-and-forward (AF), decode-and-forward (DF) and selection decode-and-forward (SDF). With the trapezoidal rule-based integration approximation method and the moment generating function (MGF)-based approach, the closed-form expressions of the outage probability of the uplink in the LMS cooperative system with three relaying protocols are derived. The analytical results are confirmed by Monte Carlo simulations. The results show that the outage probability of the uplink in the LMS SDF cooperative system is the smallest among three relaying protocols, and the performance of the uplink in the LMS AF cooperative system is better than that of the DF cooperative system when the transmit SNR is high. Moreover, the outage probability of the uplink in the LMS cooperative system with SDF and AF relaying protocols obviously decreases as the channel condition of the S-D link gets better. The performance of the LMS DF cooperative system depends on the channel condition of the S-R link. In addition, the performance of the LMS cooperative system is better than that of the no relay LMS system in most of cases.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127295595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper studies a category-based approach to the problem with the key idea that items are aggregated into categories and recommendations are made on each category. In our approach, we use the category-wise rating matrix to measure the changing preferences of users; we design a dynamic adaptive model (DAM) to describe the patterns of interest drifts; and we utilize linear regression to predict the future interests of users in a category-based manner. We have built a category-based dynamic recommender system and tested it with two well-known datasets. Experimental results show that our proposed approach achieves superior performance on category-based rating prediction compared with state-of-the-art dynamic recommendation algorithms.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124808827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
