Minimizing the usage amount of baseband units (BBU) in the baseband pool has been proposed as a performance objective. We prove this problem is a NP-hard problem and present an Improved Spanning Tree (IST) algorithm to solve it. In our algorithm, a variable K is used to control the size of the spanning tree and reduce the computational complexity. We also define a structure called bucket to hold the best K partial solutions for every node in the tree. We prove that our algorithm is able to get the optimal solution by choosing a finite K. The simulation results show that our algorithm can get the near-optimal solutions and decrease the usage amount of BBUs in the baseband pool efficiently with a very small value of K.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127034062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since multimedia contents account for most of the network traffic, content delivery is a big issue when designing network protocols. By combining the use of both directional and omnidirectional antennas, the performance of content delivery in WMNs can be improved. Currently, research works have shown that the relationship between nodes' interests in the network reveals the small-world pattern, so we can analyze nodes' interests and design optimal mechanism to deliver contents based on their interests. In this paper, we use the interest-sharing graph to capture the similarities between nodes' interests. Based on the interesting-sharing graph, we cluster nodes in the network using graph partitioning algorithm. The purpose of clustering is to make nodes in the same cluster share similar interests. After clustering nodes, we design a content delivery mechanism in WMNs which takes advantage of both omnidirectional and directional antennas. The simulation results show that our proposed content delivery mechanism can adapt to the WMNs and performs better than using omnidirectional or directional antennas only.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134015613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we proposed a novel approach to determine the association of users, allocation of resources and the proportion of ABSFs. We formulate a system throughput maximization problem with proportional rate constraint, compared with using log-utility, which can not be utilized to adjust resource allocation, our model can help us analyze and explicitly control the resource allocation among users under different interference patterns. The difficulty of our formulated problem comes from that it is NP-hard, to overcome this challenge, we relax the integer constraint and the original problem is decomposed into two subproblems. Firstly, for a given ABSFs proportion, we obtain an insight that the optimal user association is determined by the achievable rate ratio offered by macrocell and picocell. Also, for a given association of users, we figure out the explicit expressions for the optimal resource allocation and ABSFs proportion. By exploiting the characterization of the optimal solution, we proposed a low complicity algorithm. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133324990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two reuse cases that D2D communication reuses the same uplink resources or downlink resources as for cellular communication are considered. The study focuses on the location changes of cellular user, the distance changes of D2D devices, and the power changes of shared relay. Our evaluation shows that the reuse mode is optimal in most cases since the shared relay can manage the inter-cell interference very well, and whether D2D communication reuses the cellular uplink resources or the downlink resources is affected by the system parameters. Specifically the uplink resource reuse mode is preferred when the cellular user is closer to the shared relay. The simulations prove that the introduction of shared relay node enables D2D pairs to have more chances to share the resources with cellular users in underlay mode.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131117047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, frequent connection reestablishments caused by OTT services which send or receive small amounts of data often lead to a heavy signalling load within the mobile networks. That has brought about signalling storm, which is a specific problem of mobile networks. It is mainly limited by the scarcity of wireless spectrum resources. Heartbeat mechanism is one of OTT services. Smartphones communicate with the mobile networks by the heartbeat mechanism to report whether they are online. Although heartbeat message belongs to small data services, it lead that users update their status frequently. The payload of update message can not be ignored. Thus, for OTT services such as Wechat, mobile QQ, the optimization of heartbeat mechanism has become one of the best methods to reduce the network payload. In this paper, we proposed a new concept visual user equipment (VUE) which can imitate some periodic information of user equipment (UE) and replace the UE to communicate with applications in the cable end. We also proposed a scheme to reduce the transmission of heartbeat signallings according to the state of OTT services. Under the same end-to-end payload condition our scheme has greater network capacity and higher throughput at the expense of a little rise in packet loss rate only when the arrival rate of service packets is high. On the other hand, our scheme can relieve the signalling storm of OTT services to a great extent.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115393935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the detection algorithms, maximum likelihood (ML) detection can achieve the best bit error rate performance, but the computational complexity of ML detection is too huge to be acceptable. In order to solve this problem, numbers of algorithms have been proposed. The K-Best SD sphere decoding (K-Best SD) algorithm is one of them. As K increase, the K-Best SD algorithm will approach the bit error rate of ML detection. However, if the K is large, the computational complexity will be unacceptable. In this paper, we propose a modified K-Best SD algorithm, in which the difference between the partial Euclidean distance of best and second best solution at each level of the tree search can be used to calculate the dynamic K, which can reduce the computational complexity considerably with a negligible BER performance loss.","PeriodicalId":412971,"journal":{"name":"2014 Sixth International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP)","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124128494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By sharing information with other users and measuring geometrical range between them, the localizability and positioning precision of users can be improved. In this paper, we put forward a two user cooperative positioning model and a positioning algorithm. This paper analyzes the localizability of users and provides an exact and algebraic solution for two user cooperative positioning model. We theoretically prove that with the help of clock offset and altitude difference information, two users who can't be positioned by themselves can be positioned through cooperation. Simulation results illustrate that cooperative positioning can improve user's localizability largely.
