Attention is paid to two main dialects: Livvic and Ludic. The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of the positive and negative forms of potential in the above main dialects. Particular attention is paid to the indicators of potential, the peculiarities of use in a comparative aspect. The article emphasizes the gradual extinction of this category in the Karelian language. The novelty of our research lies in the fact that until now a unified literary form of the Ludic dialect has not yet been fully formed, and today the dialect is poorly represented in the educational space: regular and systematic teaching due to the influence of objective and subjective factors is not conducted. It is noted that in the Livvic dialect the written form has been actively developing for more than thirty years. In the future, a comparative analysis will probably help to solve the problem of the formation of the Ludic new-written form. In the process of work, we used general scientific empirical (observation, comparison, description) and theoretical research methods (familiarization with the material, assessment of the solidity of the assumption), general logical methods and concretizing their techniques (induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, generalization, analogy, systemic and structural approaches). The research was carried out using comparative and comparative-historical methods. Proceeding from the fact that these two dialects - Livvic and Ludic - are in the closest relationship with each other, in the future the comparative analysis can be applied in the preparation of textbooks in Ludic dialect of the Karelian language. On the other hand, on the basis of the analysis carried out, in the future it will be possible to make a decision about the use (or non-use), for example, of the forms of the perfect potential when teaching the above-mentioned dialects to students and schoolchildren, since this form is of little use, and the category of potential is gradually fading away.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43195126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the work is to explore for the first time in Russian literary criticism the literary images in the poetry of Katri Vala in relation to the Chinese poetry throughout the entire career of the poetess. The subject of study is the lyrics of Katri Vala, which contains an alternation of poetic landscapes, sometimes overlapping, and sometimes sharply contrasting. Using the comparative typological and the historical-literary methods Vala’s poems and translations are analyzed in the context of the convergence of Chinese and Finnish cultural traditions in two similar historical situations. The topic of the article is relevant both from a literary and historical points of view. Katri Vala was accused of aestheticism, of a love of the exotic. The author argues with such point of view, and contends that in this way the Vala’s deep awareness of self-involvement in the tradition of the Tang era Chinese poetry was manifested. This was presented in Vala’s works not only in the form of «ascension to flowers». The poetess was united with the great Tang poets by her civic position, sympathy for the common people, the formulation of social problems, and an appeal to the theme of humanism. The article introduces into scientific use letters stored in the archives of the Finnish Literary Society, articles from Finnish periodicals of the 1920s, which all testify to Katri Vala’s thorough knowledge of Chinese poetry. Convincing examples prove that the translations made by Katri Vala give the Finnish readers a complete picture of the lyrics of Li Bo and Du Fu. In all situations, Katri Vala’s poetry was optimistic, and literary Chinese reminiscences were forever preserved in it.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46508222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most common constants of the author's poetry are outlined: the image of home which reveals the inner state of a lyrical hero, recreates the surrounding reality, indicates the ongoing transformation of human existence; his mother tongue, love and care for which is one of the creative dominants for the poet. The poet's great interest towards the theme of home is revealed through the images of close people and landscape, through which he recreates a picture of his second homeland and highlights the feelings of a lyrical hero. The description of seasons helps Taganov to reveal his state of mind. The analysis of the poet's lyrics allows us to state that the poet, possessing an individual poetic style, reveals the inner world of a lyrical hero and recreates the surrounding reality in a concise form and memorable artistic means.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44894496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The types of double case marking have been identified, the area of their distribution has been clarified. It is established that the majority of typologically distinguished types of double case marking are represented in the Permian languages and their dialects: 1) elliptical (Simple headless adnominal) is represented in all Permian languages, it is widely used in the Udmurt language; 2) derivational takes place in the Komi languages during the formation of separate case forms of personal pronouns of the 1st and 2nd person plural; 3) the addition of locative suffixes (Case stacking) was characteristic of the early stages of the Permian languages. A typical example is the indicators of approximative-locative cases of the Komi languages, formed as a result of merging of the approximative suffix and suffixes of other locative cases, cf. керка-лань ‘towards the house’, керка-ланьысь 'from the house’, керка-ланьын 'near the house', etc.; 4) duplication of the vertex case with a nominal dependent (Headed adnominal with a case-marked head) is observed only with inversion and parcellation; 5) pleonastic (a combination of two case suffixes duplicating the same meaning). The duplication of the morphological expression of the case is fixed (in the Komi-Zyryan language, the suffixes of the genitive and the dative of nouns are added to the forms of the genitive and the dative of personal and intensifying personal pronouns of the 1st and 2nd person singular) and the double expression of the semantic-syntactic function of the case (in the Komi-Zyryan language, the suffixes of the elative and the comparative can be used simultaneously when expressing the comparative meaning). The properties of case suffixes in various types of double case marking and the possibility of their further development are noted. The empirical basis for the study was the original texts in the Komi-Zyryan, Komi-Permian and Udmurt languages from printed sources and electronic corpora.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45678407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

I. Teplyashina. The use of such material plays an invaluable role in the development of unresolved issues of linguistics, as well as the origin of native speakers. Written sources are especially significant in the study of Besermyans, whose ethnic history is still a controversial issue. As a result of the analysis of three written monuments, the reading of lexical units was clarified, a different meaning was proposed for some of them. Most of the words in the grammar of M. A. Myshkin (Mogilin) are written down quite accurately, although in some cases their semantics (translations) are questionable. The lexical units of this grammar, defined by T. I. Teplyashina as Besermyan, were analyzed based on the use of data from different dialects. As a result, we came to the conclusion that they really can (could) belong to the vocabulary of the Besermyan language. The entries in the dictionaries of P. M. Sorokin and N. P. Steinfeld are not perfect, so in some cases it took a lot of effort to read them accurately. Despite the imperfection of the records in the documents under consideration, they are of great value for the study of the vocabulary and phonetics of the Besermyan language. Such Tatar loan words as bə̑jak ‘this side’, kalap ‘skein of yarn’, t'ereźi ‘cut window’, jaktə̑lə̑k ‘window frame’ are not recorded in other Udmurt dialects, and this speaks of a special type of interaction between the Besermyan dialect and the Turkic languages in the past. The studied lexical units will be placed in the dictionary of the Besermyan dialect we are compiling.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47965607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objects of the research are five same dream stories recorded in 2018 and 2020 from the same informant in the rural locality ( selo ) of Zavialovo, the Udmurt Republic. The narratives under consideration belong to one classification group - otherworldly dreams, the plot-forming motif of which is communication with deceased close relatives. While analyzing the stability and variability of the folklore texts, I take into account their composition and suggest new terms \"dream-text\" ( снотекст ) to denote the part that comprises the dream itself and \"dream-comments\" ( снокомментарии ) to denote narrator's explanations and remarks on the reported dream. The dream-comments are divided into three groups: introductory / pre-text, in-text and final / post-text comments. It has been revealed that dream-comments undergo the greatest changes - they can either extend or reduce, contain non-repeating data and interpretations, thus playing a key role in text compression. Conversely, the dream-texts do not alter dramatically, demonstrating remarkable stability: slight variability can be found only at the structural level (internal permutations of structural elements in the dream-text) and lexical level (the use of synonymous words and expressions that do not change the content of the described dream). It can be explained by the informant’s inclination to convey the dream content as accurately as possible and preserve its significant details. The stability of the dream texts is observed at the grammatical level, namely the verb tense usage, and at the syntactical level, namely the usage of the mixture of direct and indirect speech. The prevalence of present tense verb forms in narration aims to blur time boundaries, create the illusion of the reality, so the dream is not just remembered, but presented hit et nunc to listeners. All considered dream narratives perfectly fit into the Udmurt traditional religious and mythological system, reflecting and reinforcing existing beliefs (the need to remember the dead, beliefs about posthumous existence), thereby emphasizing that retold dreams are culturally constituted and encouraged.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48780992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the article is to identify the qualitative parameters of the maintenance and development of the identity of this ethnic group in the conditions of living outside the \"parent\" state. The study focuses on several thematic blocks as important indicators of the functioning of ethnicity in this sector of the population. It provides a demographic portrait of Vojvodina Hungarians, highlights legislative guarantees of ethnic minority rights and other forms of state support in the country of residence, and provides information on the social and political activity, as well as cultural, educational and awareness-raising activities of Hungarians in Serbia, primarily in Vojvodina. Particular attention is paid to the peculiarities of the autonomous structure of the province. The socio-anthropological analytical approach to the analysis of empirical material allows one to reach the level of theoretical generalization, to identify the role of state borders as a factor of influence not only on the civil identity, but also on the formation of cultural and everyday features of diaspora groups as a result of constant contacts with ethnically foreign neighbors. The author provides evidence of the high level of development of Serbia's legal framework in terms of maintaining cultural diversity in the country, creating a wide range of social and domestic conditions necessary to maintain and develop ethnic identity among national minorities, including Hungarians. At the same time, the data from the censuses of various years in Serbia show a gradual decrease in the number of Hungarians in recent decades. The negative trend is explained by their low fertility, as well as by the migratory mobility of the inhabitants of Vojvodina, for economic and other reasons, which are often not directly related to identity issues. Moreover, Hungarian identity becomes an additional resource in the choice of the most promising life strategies of the younger generation.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49661442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A European cabinet of curiosities was part of a scientific system for disseminating reliable knowledge about the phenomena of the surrounding world. The cultural artefacts of the peoples of the polar suburbs of Europe were collected by European scientists and collectors. Lapponian shoes from the Danish Royal Kunstkamera entered Tsar Peter’s I Kunstkamera and turned out to be the first example of the traditional culture of the peoples of the Arctic zone in this collection. Ethnographic objects and the very theme of the diversity of the peoples of the Russian Empire were included in the court culture of the Russian court in the first half of the 18th century. The \"Prince of Lapland\" took part in the 1709 cortege to honor of the victory at Poltava, probably personifying the obedience to the Russian crown not only of the Swedish army, but also of the people of the north of Sweden. \"Laplanders\", in costumes taken from the Kunstkamera of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, were involved in the celebrations at the court of Empress Anna Ioannovna on the occasion of the end of the Russian-Turkish war of 1735-1739. A list of traditional Sami culture items was published in the first printed catalog - Musei Imperialis Petropolitani (1741-1745), but their belonging to the Sami was disputed by contemporary researchers. Information about the rituals of the Sami, first of all, about the polar bear hunt and about the bear festival, were included in the first guide to the Kunstkamera of the late 18th - early 19th centuries. The name of the greatest natural scientist of the 19th century, academician Karl Ernst von Baer, is associated with the appearance at the Academy of Sciences in the 1840s materials on physical anthropology of the Sami and the first authentic Sami cultural objects. These facts prompted authors to violate the boundaries of the 18th century, indicated in the topic of the work. Despite the small size of the collection, the traditional Sami culture found important place in the exposition, in the catalogs and in the guidebook of the first state museum, which is structural part of the Imperial Academy of Sciences.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47198753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The forest with all the trees, shrubs and various herbs growing in it has always had and still has invaluable ecological, economic and social significance in human life. The realities of the plant world often belong to the oldest layers of the vocabulary of any language and always arouse the genuine interest of researchers, since their names, which fix the process of knowing and mastering the world of flora, reveal characteristic features of the national mentality. The purpose of this study is to identify the history of written fixation, etymology and ethnocultural features of the Udmurt names of some trees and shrubs: бадь [bad'] ‘willow’, бадяр [bad'ar] ‘maple’, беризь [beriz'] ‘linden’, гузэмпу [guzempu] ‘honeysuckle’ and лемышпу [l'em2špu] ‘cherry’, each of which in one form or another is reflected in the monuments of early Udmurt writing. To achieve the task, an empirical approach, methods and techniques of comparative historical and comparative linguistics were applied. The names of the phytonyms under consideration, found in written documents of the 18th century, are correlated with the names from later sources in the Udmurt language, if necessary, parallels are given from related and unrelated, and in some cases, contacting languages. The etymological analysis made it possible to identify the original names of the analyzed trees and shrubs that arose in the Ural ( бадь ‘willow’, бадяр ‘maple’) and Finno-Permian ( гузэмпу ‘honeysuckle’) epochs, as well as borrowed lexemes from the Tatar ( беризь ‘linden’) and Iranian ( лемышпу ‘cherry’) languages.","PeriodicalId":41242,"journal":{"name":"Ezhegodnik Finno-Ugorskikh Issledovanii-Yearbook of Finno-Ugric Studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44992176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
