However, not all literary reading materials can be read by children. Children's literature reading materials need to be adjusted based on the stage of intellectual development. This study aims to describe the characteristics of children's literary reading materials according to the stage of intellectual development and values contained in children's reading materials. This research is a qualitative research type of library research. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be explained that literary reading materials according to the stage of children's intellectual development can be grouped into four stages, namely (1) the sensorimotor period (0-2 years) stage, which is children prefer sounds. and singing songs, (2) the pre-operational period (2-7 years) namely appropriate reading materials such as books dominated by pictures, (3) the concrete operational stage of the period (7-11 years) where appropriate reading materials are books narrative books or stories that can bring children to project themselves into time and place such as stories, adventures or traditional literature, (4) the formal operational stage of the period (11-12 years), namely the stage where children can understand double plot books or poetry-children's poems given at school. Reading children's literature not only provides entertainment or inner, but it there are character values that can be instilled in children. The theory in this research is used to relate about the novel and the groove structure. This research used descriptive qualitative methods. The approach of this research is used by structural approach. the Data is based on quotation of groove structure which is the introduction of story situation (exposition), the disclosure of event (complication), conflict (rising action), the main conflict (turning point) and completion (ending) in Novel of Tapak Jejak by Fiersa Besari. Based on the analysis of the Novel, that concluded by, First, the opening of the story begins with the arrival of the main characters, Bung and Swarandee, on their trip to Ternate. Second, character Bung is confused about continuing his trip around East Indonesia. Third, begins with the character Aku has succeeded to finish his mission by stepping his foot on Manokwari, but character Aku has strong determination to achieve success at the eastern end of Indonesia. Fourth, in this climax he must decide his fate of character, he would succeed or fail. Beside character Bung lost his motivation on his journey to go around Indonesia. He also misses his family and hometown. Those ideas must be gathered, organized, and planned to be arranged in an outline. The main goal of this study was aimed at examining the students’ outlines and their essays based on their outlines. To evaluate their outline, the framework was based on the outline checklist proposed by Zemach & Rumisek (2005). This study employed qualitative study and involved 30 students in the third semester of 2020/2021 academic year enrolled in the Essay Writing course, at English Department, Faculty of Letters, Universitas Pamulang (Unpam). The results of constructing an outline, it showed that the highest percentage (73%) in constructing an outline was in organization for paragraphs in the right order. On the other hand, insSupport for each main idea related to the thesis statement had the lowest percentage (40%). However, the results of generating essay writing based on their outline, there were 80% students who were successful following their outline when they created their essay. It can be concluded that most of students when they produced an outline and developed their ideas to write an essay from their outline, they followed their outline. This research is library research so that it is not bound by the place. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method with analytical techniques. The object of the research used is the novel Pulang by Tere Liye. This research is focused on socio-cultural background research that includes language systems, socio-cultural systems, living livelihood systems, religious systems. The technique of collecting data is done by the way researchers read, understand, determine each intrinsic and extrinsic elements of the novel. The results of this study can be concluded that there are 81 statements are stating a socio-cultural background divided into 10 language systems, 50 socio-cultural systems, 17 living livelihood systems, 4 religious systems. Study the socio-cultural system dominates, this has been proven by the number of statements that refer to the system. The socio-cultural system in this novel refers to the attitudes and behavior of each group of people whose life is governed by customs and rules regarding various kinds of unity in an environment where they live and interact day by day.
