The active power dispatch is a conventional Optimal Power Flow (OPF) problem. The proposed approach combines Firefly Algorithm (FA) with Nelder-Mead (NM) simplex search method. In the proposed hybrid method, the exploration is done using FA and exploitation with NM simplex. The proposed hybrid algorithm can handle the nonlinear, non-convex active power dispatch problem with different constraints like valve point loading effect, prohibited operating zone and voltage dependent load conditions. Simulations are performed on standard IEEE 30 bus system. Comparisons are done with other different relevant approaches. Statistical analysis of results confirms the robustness and consistency of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"45 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113965058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed architecture have been implemented and tested on Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA, Zynq SoC (System On Chip) and ultra-scale FPGA platforms. The system is based on the modified rhombus interpolation scheme to embed and extract the copyright protection for medical and military imaging applications. In the reversible watermarking, the embedded watermark can be completely extracted along with the original image in a lossless manner. The experimental result of the proposed architectures of the encoding and decoding process for reversible watermarking is implemented using VIVADO 2014.2. The results for quality factors of the original and watermarked image is obtained using MATLAB R2013a and compared with the result generated from hardware implementation in FPGA, SoC and Ultra-scale platform. Cognitive Radio which uses Dynamic spectrum allocation is proposed to utilize spectrum efficiently. In a given wireless scenario optimization of transmission parameters for cognitive radio become complex due to many transmission parameters and large number of values it can have. In this paper we have proposed a cognitive radio decision engine that determines the optimal values of radio transmission parameters using Genetic Algorithm (GA) for optimal spectrum allocation in cognitive radio. Initially we have strived to achieve subset of parameters and evolve them till the optimal value is achieved for given performance objective. To control the evolution process for GA we have defined fitness measures for different performance objective. Simulation results clearly show that optimization of transmission parameters is achieved with the overall efficiency of 94% for fitness measures.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124507419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This sensor consists of many inductive loops in series, with each loop having a parallel capacitor across it. These inductive and capacitive elements of the sensor may undergo open or short circuit faults during operation. Such faults lead to erroneous interpretation of data acquired from the loops. Conventional methods used for fault diagnosis in inductive loop detectors consume time and effort as they require experienced technicians and involve extraction of loops from the saw-cut slots on the road. This also means that the traffic flow parameters cannot be measured until the sensor system becomes functional again. The repair activities would also disturb traffic flow. This paper presents a method for automating fault diagnosis for series-connected Multiple Inductive Loop Detectors, based on an impulse test. The system helps in the diagnosis of open/short faults associated with the inductive and capacitive elements of the sensor structure by displaying the fault status conveniently. Since the fault location as well as the fault type can be precisely identified using this method, the repair actions are also localised. The proposed system thereby results in significant savings in both repair time and repair costs. An embedded system was developed to realize this scheme and the same was tested on a loop prototype.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124013629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Incoming decades, the world anticipates to develop more of its solar resource potential as an alternative energy source to overcome the persistent shortages and unreliability of power supply. The main drawback of solar photovoltaic system is that it depends on environment conditions (temperature and insolation). In order to maximize the power output the system components of the photovoltaic system should be optimized. This paper describes the modeling and simulation of photovoltaic system with emergency backup (battery). In this paper first we describe the modeling of PV system which is based on mathematical equations and is described through an equivalent circuit including a current source, a diode, a series resistor and a shunt resistor, then how to extract maximum power from PV system this is achieved using constant voltage maximum power point techniques (CV MPPT) and in last used this system with battery. When solar photovoltaic system not provide sufficient power to load at that time battery is used to give power for load i.e. at poor weather condition photovoltaic system disconnected from the load and battery connect to give power.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127995340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For listeners using binaural hearing aids, spectral splitting of the speech signal can be used to reduce the effects of increased intraspeech spectral masking thereby improving speech perception. It has been reported that a pair of linear-phase comb filters, with auditory critical bandwidth based complementary magnitude responses selected for perceptual balance of loudness, resulted in a significant improvement in speech perception without affecting localization of broadband sound sources. The paper presents an investigation for FPGA-based implementation of these comb filters for use in binaural hearing aids. It is shown that a processing architecture employing sequential multiply-accumulate operations results in an efficient implementation.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127999374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The nature of energy arrival process is stochastic and the available energy needs to be utilized efficiently. The model we consider is an extension of the one by Geng and Lai [1] in which they study optimal power allocation policies for detecting a change in an observation sequence. For this we will first derive an asymptotic lower bound on worst mean detection delay for any detection/isolation algorithm and an arbitrary power allocation scheme. Then we will show that Matrix CUSUM algorithm combined with an immediate power allocation scheme achieves this lower bound and hence is asymptotically optimal. We also provide numerical simulations to augment the theoretical results.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125410281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A small attack or failure of the network, has the potential to trigger a global cascading breakdown, thereby raising questions with regard to the possible strategies to combat such a mishap. Many works have been published lately, that deals mainly with the revival of a complex network after an attack or failure. In this paper, we propose to build the network architecture in an efficient manner, so that the network can withstand attacks or link failures up to some certain pre-specified limit. We introduce a novel approach to enhance the robustness of a network from the prevention point of view, that is prior to an attack or failure. Simulation results reveal that with a slight increase in the number of driver nodes, from that obtained using the existing maximum matching algorithm, enhances the stability of the network up to a large number of link failures. We also observe that, the sparse and inhomogeneous networks are difficult to control and are less robust, compared to dense and homogeneous networks.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"103 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130031709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But, the indirect field oriented controller is sensitive to variations in rotor time constant, especially variation in rotor resistance. In this paper a scheme based on the Rotor flux Model Reference Adaptive Controller is designed for estimating the rotor resistance. The rotor flux estimation based on the measurement of motor terminal voltage and current although depends on the motor stator resistance, however its compensation easier and the overriding feature of this estimation technique is that identification of rotor resistance when the drive is operating at full load and at zero motor speed condition is possible. The effectiveness of the TS fuzzy controller based rotor flux adaptive scheme for four quadrant operation of motor drive is investigated and compared with the conventional PI and Mamdani fuzzy controller inMatlab/Simulink environment.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131852227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From each Android .apk file, three distinct features likely (a) opcodes (b) methods and (c) permissions are extracted. Analysis of Variance (X-ANOVA) is used to rank features that have high difference in variance in malware and benign training set. To achieve this conventional ANOVA was modified; and a novel technique referred to us as X-ANOVA is proposed. Especially, X-ANOVA is utilized to reduce the dimensions of large feature space in order to minimize classification error and processing overhead incurred during the learning phase. Accuracy of the proposed system is computed using three classifiers (J48, ADABoostM1, RandomForest) and the performance is compared with voted classification approach. An overall accuracy of 88.30% with opcodes, 87.81% with method and an accuracy of 90.47% is obtained considering permission as features, using independent classifiers. However, using voted classification approach, an accuracy of 88.27% and 87.53% are obtained respectively for features like opcodes and methods. Also, an improved accuracy of 90.63% was ascertained considering permissions. Initial results are promising which demonstrate that the proposed approach can be used to assist mobile antiviruses.","PeriodicalId":409794,"journal":{"name":"2014 Annual IEEE India Conference (INDICON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130988975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
