The methodology used in this study was based on a qualitative approach: documentary analysis, using the relevant literature searched to analyse the information and draw conclusions. Details about the following information were obtained by the author: the findings showed that, firstly, ornamentation should be added in a pattern that is within the framework originally framed by the composer and not overly embellished; secondly, the proper incorporation of specific instruments (e.g., harpsichord) and ornamentation makes the piece more baroque; and last but not least, ornamentation should be complementary to the melody and the composition in order to achieve the best effect of it. In general, ornamentation enhances the beauty and enriches the tune of a piece, whose value in Baroque music is unshakable.","PeriodicalId":408414,"journal":{"name":"Studies in Social Science & Humanities","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131735179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although a number of reasons account for the violent nature of the conflict and its protracted nature, sectarianism appeared to be the most glaring and leading driver of the conflict. The dominance of the Christian majority over the Muslims in every aspect of life, the questionable Central African citizenship of CAR Muslim population have led to overt discrimination against the minority Muslim population. This discrimination on religious lines adds to ethnic discrimination by various CAR leaders who offer preferential treatment to members of their ethnic groups through appointments to top government and military positions, to the detriment of the other tribes, breeding ethnic division. Applying the Protracted Social Conflict theory, this article attempts to investigate into how sectarianism contributed to the protraction of the CAR conflict from 2012–2020. The paper applies a qualitative method of analysis to investigate the sectarian roots of the 2012 conflict in the CAR. Data collection and analysis involved secondary sources in the form of books, scientific journal publications, reports and other relevant internet sources to answer the central question in the research.","PeriodicalId":408414,"journal":{"name":"Studies in Social Science & Humanities","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125775777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River in China is by far the largest hydroelectric power plant in the world. Supporters of the project argue that it would help control catastrophic flooding along the Yangtze River, provide much-needed electricity to the central region of China along the river, and enhance the economic advantage of the interior. The most important role is for the dam to act as an important power station and reservoir in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, as it will not only solve natural disasters, such as floods and mudslides, but also promote economic development in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River through power generation. The dam is also intended to protect millions of people from periodic flooding along the Yangtze River, although there has been debate about its effectiveness. However, the dam has also caused damage to ecological and wildlife habitats, archaeological and cultural sites, and the displacement of millions of people.","PeriodicalId":408414,"journal":{"name":"Studies in Social Science & Humanities","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125268253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Grounded theory is a systematic research analysis that deals with qualitative research area. It is based on the effort to collect field data; follow the development and refinement through the systematic data analysis, and the final result can test existing theories or develop a new theory. Therefore, it constructs hypotheses and theories by the continuous collection and analysis of data. It is established for the first time in 1967 by two American sociologists Barney Galland Glaser and Anselm Leonard Strauss. Since the starting, it has taken on different iterations, and evolved a number of variants, such as classic grounded theory, Straussian grounded theory, constructivist grounded theory, and feminist grounded theory. New grounded theory researchers face difficulties to understand how to operate and apply families of grounded theory concepts and methods properly. This study has planned to provide an overview of families of grounded theory with the proper explanation for them. In this study an attempt has been taken to provide an up-to-date research framework of a grounded theory and its variants.","PeriodicalId":408414,"journal":{"name":"Studies in Social Science & Humanities","volume":"45 04","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114109326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article reviews the emotive and empathetic role of climate fiction (cli-fi) in climate change communication, using the precautionary principle of relevance to sustainable development to discuss how cli-fi has influenced the way people feel and think about climate change and further foster pro-environmental attitudes and opinions. Through discussing the effectiveness of cli-fi as a communication tool, I argue that cli-fi allows readers to visualise the implications of climate change on themselves and triggers their empathetic and emotional responses, especially negative emotions. Those emotions, on the one hand, could arouse a wider and deeper climate consciousness by inspiring audiences to consider previously unnoticed subjects; on the other hand, could facilitate affective engagement and the perceived need for action.","PeriodicalId":408414,"journal":{"name":"Studies in Social Science & Humanities","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116841540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is found that merely emphasizing age without looking into other aspects that influence the effect of L2 learning is not enough. Fossilization still exists, notably seen in lexical learning. Despite the advance of age of onset of English education, children’s English ability ceases to develop when they reach certain level. Through study of both domestic and foreign literature, this study aims to find other contributors in cognitive aspects by analyzing the causes of lexical fossilization based on the mental representation of L2 lexis and different stages of lexical development. Measures are provided from the perspective of input and output to tackle such problem during language processing, and suggestions are also proposed for educators, hoping that in the future, changes can be made to the content of English material, the form of English exams as well as teaching patterns so as to maximize the effect of L2 learning.","PeriodicalId":408414,"journal":{"name":"Studies in Social Science & Humanities","volume":"238 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121308038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this work was to explore the role of income, psychological and family ties in the non-migration decision in the English speaking regions of Cameroon. Based on data collected primarily from 510 individuals regarding migration decisions and it’s determinant based on a Snowball approach. It was found that individuals with low income had higher tendency of migrating. It was also found that people refused to migrate despite the risk because of family ties. On the other hand, psychological factors have no significant effect on migration decision. Policy recommendations are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":408414,"journal":{"name":"Studies in Social Science & Humanities","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116366024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
