The purpose of this study was to examine the analgesic effect of herbs made of basil, lime, honey, candlenut, and Tiwai onions as well as to evaluate the potential of these herbs as a stamina stimulator. This study was conducted at the Laboratory of Animal Management Unit, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, IPB University, from January–February 2022. Mice were divided into four groups based on the treatment dose with each group consisted of five mice. An analgesic test was conducted using hot water immersion tail-flick test method and the stamina test was performed with swimming endurance test. Data obtained were analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2019 and Minitab 19. Significant differences of the average of each group were shown statistically using the one-way ANOVA and confirmed with Tukey test. Results showed that mice given the combination herbal medicine infusion of with a dose of 4 g/kg body weight had the highest average tail lift time compared to the controls (p<0.05). Mice with a treatment dose of 1 g/kg body weight had the highest analgesic power compared to the other treatment doses. The highest swimming duration was observed in group that received a dose of 1 g/kg body weight. It is concluded that this herbal combination can be used as an analgesic and a stamina stimulator.","PeriodicalId":40791,"journal":{"name":"Majalah Kedokteran Bandung-MKB-Bandung Medical Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43394962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between 25-(OH)-D level and children's mental-emotional development during their first 1000 days of life. A cross-sectional study was conducted on children aged ≤2 years old in Waled and Sukabumi regions using secondary data from previous cohort investigations entitled \"The Role of Vitamin D in Efforts to Reduce Maternal and Infant mortality\". The measurement of 25-(OH)-D concentration and assessment of the mental-emotional development were performed using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires: Social-Emotional (ASQ-SE) questionnaire. Other child and maternal characteristics, and several laboratory results, were also obtained. Statistical analyses were performed using the Spearman rank, Pearson correlation test, and multivariate linear regression analysis. A total of ninety-two children were included, and the median vitamin D level of the population was 20.17 ng/mL (IQR 4.43–49.97). The correlation analysis showed that no significant relationship between children's mental-emotional scores and the parameters tested, including the concentration of 25-(OH)-D (correlation coefficient 0.08; p=0.446). There was no relationship between the vitamin D concentration and mental-emotional development. Based on these results, it is concluded that there is no correlation between 25-(OH)-D concentration and children’s mental-emotional development during the first 1000 days of life. However, further investigations are recommended to eliminate various confounding factors.","PeriodicalId":40791,"journal":{"name":"Majalah Kedokteran Bandung-MKB-Bandung Medical Journal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48610249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These changes, on the one hand, resulted from the censorships imposed by the legal and administrative requirements on publishing and editing. On the other hand, the peculiar sociocultural context of misogynistic homophobia in the People’s Republic of China (prc) in the late 1980s was also normative and decisive to translators’ choices, especially when a swear word was related to homosexuality or sexual content.","PeriodicalId":40791,"journal":{"name":"Majalah Kedokteran Bandung-MKB-Bandung Medical Journal","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88017986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Malaysia, many early childhood educators lack qualifications and the resources to pursue them (Foong, et al., 2018). This study explored the experiences of seven early childhood educators in Malaysia with web-based informal professional development through interviews and media go-alongs, examining participants’ use of and perception towards Web 2.0, particularly for self-directed and interactive learning. Results showed a burgeoning integration of Web 2.0 platforms in participants’ professional learning. Participants emphasised the significant role of personal attitudes and workplace culture in encouraging learning and technology adoption and expressed interest in the development of Web 2.0 communities of practice that support professional discourse and knowledge creation. These have the potential to strengthen professional identities and foster society-wide recognition of early childhood education as a profession.","PeriodicalId":40791,"journal":{"name":"Majalah Kedokteran Bandung-MKB-Bandung Medical Journal","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72954771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In response to the global theory of what is necessary to achieve biodiversity targets, Brazil, a megadiverse “developing” country from the Global South, gains international attention due to its differentiated role in terms of providing environmental services. To confront global theory and territorialized practice, the article looks at a protected area that overlaps with the lands traditionally occupied by flower-gatherers in the Cerrado, a tropical Savanna ecosystem. On the base of the case study, the dichotomy society/nature and the mobilization strategies of this grassroot movement are discussed in light of disputes surrounding sustainability, appropriation and usage of natural resources. Results show collective actors whose identity is articulated in the collection of native flowers from the rupestrian grasslands are somewhat successful in their struggle to re-signify the meaning given to ecology and sustainability through the production of counter-discourses to the conservationist paradigm.","PeriodicalId":40791,"journal":{"name":"Majalah Kedokteran Bandung-MKB-Bandung Medical Journal","volume":"58 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77240648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The coalition comprises Brazil, Germany, India, and Japan. Based on an analysis of a dataset that includes official reform proposals, press statements, meetings statements, meetings notes, and interviews with key actors, the article concludes with five policy directions that can make the G4’s reform policy clear, transparent, and subsequently successful in terms of the necessary appeal and ensuing support from Global South countries. The article relies on a conceptual and methodological differentiation between how the absent unsc reform problem is presented and represented, respectively. A focus on the representation, which mainly refers to the policy’s subtle and implicit strategies and consequences, allows for the following overall contributions to unsc reform studies. First, I point out how the policy promotes and opposes democracy, equality, and increased Global South influence. Second, the analysis guides the G4 strategy and unsc reform strategies, at large, towards emphases on the African Union’s reform position.","PeriodicalId":40791,"journal":{"name":"Majalah Kedokteran Bandung-MKB-Bandung Medical Journal","volume":"66 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72502374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yet, the issue of whether or how to regulate the expansion of the wui remains contentious and largely unresolved in understanding sustainable development. There are fewer studies that explore how wildfire risks are compounded by social vulnerability of people who reside in the fire prone wui. Additionally, much of the extant research is focused on the national or regional level management of ecosystems and forest fires, with a clear lack of focus on local level dynamics. To fill these gaps, our analysis outlines the preliminary steps to identify social vulnerability, ecological damage, and wildfire risk in the wui fire hazard zones of the highest severity type. Utilizing gis mapping, wildfire risk, and census data on social vulnerability, our analysis reveals patterns of the wui expansion in the San Francisco Bay Area from 1990 to 2010 and provides policy recommendations from a sustainable development perspective to address social vulnerability, wildfire risk, and ecological concerns over the wui.","PeriodicalId":40791,"journal":{"name":"Majalah Kedokteran Bandung-MKB-Bandung Medical Journal","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88383707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, « green » policies like redd+ programmes and protected areas, often curb bottom-up participation and reduce forests’ multiple functions to the economic interests of few, contrarily to what the discourse on Sustainability calls for.\u0000This paper aims to develop an alternative proposal for a multi-stakeholder model for forest governance that overcomes the public v. private dichotomy (Ostrom, 2010) and constitutes a tool for a broader approach to sustainability. By linking the discourse on the commons (Arnold, 1998; Agrawal & Ostrom, 1999; Hardin, 1968; Dietz, Ostrom and Stern, 2003; Dolsak, Ostrom & McKay, 2003; Ellickinson, 1993; Ostrom, 1990, 1999, 2005, 2010; Ostrom, Gardner and Walker, 1994; Ostrom&Ostrom, 1977) with the discourse on justice (Rawls, 1971; Sen, 1980, 1999, 2009; Anderson, 1999, 2010; Goodin, 1988), I construct an argument for a two-level social contract. Forest-dependent Indigenous communities are entitled with quasi-property rights as part of their capabilities set, so they may become trustees of the global forests. Evidences about the Yanesha peoples in Perù and the Binh Son villagers in Vietnam back up the argument that communities can establish micro-social conventions as a response to lands’ occupation and forests’ degradation.\u0000This framework is aimed at both policy-makers and civil society to (i) justify and design decision- and policy-making and (ii) evaluate existing policies. Implementing it requires a paradigm shift from State-centred and neoliberal agenda towards innovative solutions in the name of sustainability and global justice.","PeriodicalId":40791,"journal":{"name":"Majalah Kedokteran Bandung-MKB-Bandung Medical Journal","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81019326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, objective data are needed, including data on inflammatory parameters (TLC, NLR, LDH, CRP, D-dimer and PCT) to monitor the severity and prognosis of COVID-19 patients. This study aimed to evaluate the inflammatory parameters in the initial days of treatment for COVID-19 patients between intubated and non-intubated patients during hospitalization. The study was conducted in the COVID isolation ward of Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung, Indonesia, from July 2020 to July 2021. This was a retrospective cross-sectional comparative analytical observational study that involved patients’ first laboratory examination results. The statistical analysis was performed using Mann Whitney test for numerical data and Chi Square test for categorical data. There were significant differences in inflammatory parameters values in both groups (p<0.01).
