However, health processes are complex. Patients will have general preferences and concerns, but are unlikely to understand the complexities of the information flows relevant to their care. This paper argues that such applications should consider and leverage the organisational aspects of care. Care providers must act in the patient's interest, and thus are responsible for protecting personal information. Rather than burden each application (and user) with the daunting task of enumerating and enforcing policies to govern all possible uses of information, we suggest that applications should focus on specific confidentiality concerns — effecting information disclosure preferences with respect to the existing sharing protocols of care providers. We present a context-aware, policy-based middleware as an example illustrating how patient preferences can qualify existing control policy.","PeriodicalId":407855,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Information Society","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115312771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many researches on Enterprise 2.0 and related practitioners have recognized the importance of benefits and costs for individuals using Web 2.0. However, the effects of such benefits on enterprise adoption intentions are not discussed. To investigate this issue, this paper proposed a model to examine and understand the intention to adopt Enterprise 2.0. From the view of top management, three factors of importance were identified through a value-based adoption model (VAM), namely perceived benefits, perceived costs, and perceived value. An empirical survey was conducted to collect data, with 500 samples collected within 18 days, of which 150 were valid; a response rate of 30%. Partial Least Squares (PLS) was used to analyze the data and verify the model. The results showed that perceived value plays an important role in mediating the relationship between perceived benefits, costs, and adoption intentions, as well as exerting a significant influence on intention to adopt Enterprise 2.0. Moreover, this study identified major factors that may affect perceived value. It was also found that both perceived benefits and perceived costs have significant impacts on perceived value, and increase intentions to adopt Enterprise 2.0. Lastly, the implications of such findings were discussed.","PeriodicalId":407855,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Information Society","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115704788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The task of locating the search phrase in the small answer corpus is non-trivial, as there are fewer answers to search from. We propose a query-based model for indexing answers in a closed domain factoid question answering system. Further, we use a phrase term inference method for improving the ranking order of related questions. Our solution offers an adaptive, lightweight approach to a factoid question answering system for domain specific knowledge bases with significantly simplified language processing techniques.","PeriodicalId":407855,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Information Society","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123520978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While most mail summarisation applications allow dialogue structure of emails, users to summarise messages into percentages or numbers of sentences. In practice this task tends to be tedious and solutions available today often require programming skills on the part of the email users. The users define rules for summarising messages. For each message, the user must first decide which message is most important. Then, the user must inform the mail summariser of that choice by selecting the appropriate icon or menu item from among what is typically a set of several dozen choices. The combined effort of choosing a message and conveying that choice to the application often discourages users from summarising their mails, resulting in unmanageable inboxes that contain hundreds or even thousands of un-précised and unnecessary messages. Intelligent email summarisation system (IESS), encourages users to have summative messages by simplifying the content of the mail. Using unsupervised machine learning techniques in combination with automated word and phrases modeller to intelligently provide a précis summary of each email messages is developed to reduce the burden of email users.","PeriodicalId":407855,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Information Society","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128733299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is especially concerned with the use of QuickPlace which is a web-based collaborative technology within eGovernment practice. The purpose of this study is to show that web-based collaborative technology can help to facilitate the practice of eGovernment in order to achieve some of eGovernment program goals. The selected technology is currently being used with eBusiness and eLearning. In fact, many universities have implemented the technology to be used by both students and staff, because it has essential attributes and its secure environment is one of these crucial features. The study was conducted on all available literature and findings of previous studies. The study ascertained that web-based collaborative technology, besides other technologies, can dramatically facilitate the work inside and between government agencies. For example, it can raise the productivity of public sectors and can facilitate the communication taking place between different constituents and departments, which is supported by the literature. Hence, this study provides major recommendations, the main one being that governments are strongly urged to use web-based collaborative technologies within their eGovernment programs as a tool for accomplishing some of their eGovernment program goals.","PeriodicalId":407855,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Information Society","volume":"12 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114119263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
