The idea of White Print was to provide interesting reading material for the visually impaired population, including Braille Tactile alphabet books in English and Hindi. Upasana had been handling all the functions on her own with occasional help from interns which has been working out well so far. However, going ahead, the business is bound to face issues related to revenue generation, scaling up, and impact. The case describes the role of a senior equity analyst at Intermarket Securities Limited (IMS), Qasim Ahmad, who is preparing the Intermarket Pulse report on Pakistan’s fertilizer sector. The upcoming report, due on 16 February 2017, requires a comprehensive analysis. Qasim gathered the background information on the fertilizer sector in Pakistan as well as EFERT and asked a newly hired junior analyst to prepare an estimate of EFERT’s cost of capital. The announcement of this huge loss was the result of an accounting fraud conducted by the management team. Adam Kim, the former CEO of the company, concealed 4.5 billion dollars of losses by manipulating the accounting performances. This case exemplifies the results of the weak control environment. With economic growth slowing, there was a need for more efficient logistics systems to move production resources at lower costs so that Chinese firms could remain competitive. Kerry Logistics, a third party logistics service provider, had grown rapidly in China and by now had established business centres in 32 provinces. Although it had many foreign clients who wanted to move goods in and out of China, it had difficulty gaining the trust of local clients who wanted a logistics firm with extensive local network. Kerry also wanted a share of the booming e-commerce delivery business but the market situation here was chaotic, unregulated and in a cut-throat price war. Not only did the new corporate entrants appear as threats to them, but the consumers’ changing demographics, needs, and preferences also went against the company. Therefore, Ambassador, the elegant Indian mystic, was pushed to the taxi segment. But the taxi segment was gradually populated by competitors such as Maruti Suzuki or Tata Indica. The Ambassador brand had again gone into limbo. As a final attempt to survive, the company planned to bring in the New Amby Sub-4 Meter in 2013. Per the terms of the merger, Vedanta Limited would issue one share of itself for every share of Cairn India. In addition, it would also issue a preference share of INR 10 in face value. The stock prices of the two companies, however, soon started trading outside the range suggested by the above exchange ratio. This gave rise to different possible trading strategies for the investors with different possible outcomes. The company wants to evaluate the attractiveness and the challenges facing the houseboat sector and decide whether to enter this sector. The case illustrates the present state of the houseboat sector and captures the direction it is heading. Since its inception, the sector has remained unorganized, resulting in unsatisfactory customer service standards. The short-sighted approach of houseboat owners to maximize profits and refusal to adopt technological solutions has put doubts on the long-term health of this sector with many tourists looking for better alternatives. The sector is concentrated in two states in India: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Kerala. The differences in the external-macro environment has taken the sector in these two states to completely different directions. In Kashmir, the deteriorating security situation has a negative impact on tourist inflows, thus reducing the demand for houseboats. In Kerala, the sector is on an upswing, with the government playing a catalytic role in promoting tourism and incentivizing houseboats through subsidies. PULSE was developed to implement a weekly feedback system for 4,500 employees. However, in 2016, PULSE data revealed a surge in silver and bronze badges and a decline in gold ones. What story was PULSE telling? This case primarily discusses the social marketing challenges encountered by MAC with the task to promote intervention programs on condom use and women’s safe sex practices to influence social change. However, promoting condom use is regarded as taboo and is not allowed to be mentioned in Malaysian mainstream mass media because of restrictions by the Communications and Multimedia Act. The government also cannot openly advocate condom use because of sociocultural sensitivity. In addition, some people might misinterpret promoting condom use as encouraging promiscuity. On the other hand, official statistics show that new HIV cases have shifted the trend from men to women in recent years, and the major factor for women infected by HIV was through sexual transmission. Dr. Suzi, communication manager of MAC, is in charge of the “PutItOn” campaign. She faced difficulty in increasing awareness among women about the campaign with the consideration of social and cultural issues. The campaign was launched in December 2014, but not many people seemed aware of this campaign after four months of its launch. The chairman of MAF, Dr. Roselina, advised her to come up with an effective promotional strategy for the “PutItOn” campaign by April. Dr. Suzi had only one month to devise a plan to solve the problem; otherwise, MAC has to close the campaign. The company owns and runs three apparel plants in Bengaluru. The head of the “SILVER SPARK” plant, Ashish Grover, feels that despite all the successes achieved in the past, the plant needs improvement. The production lead times were longer than required and the factory seemed to lack a smooth production flow. At this time, he met Andy Dey, a LEAN specialist. Ashish invited Andy to his factory and asked him for his opinion on improving the process using LEAN tools and techniques. After listening to the quick assessment, Ashish engaged Andy as a LEAN consultant and requested a detailed assessment of each department.
