The firm offers knowledge services to various clients, such as entrepreneurs, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and voluntary organizations, in different stages of their business development, from project design to execution and evaluation. IFS has experienced a remarkable growth trajectory, but it also faces significant challenges that threaten its viability. This case explores the various aspects of the firm’s journey and how this innovative digital enterprise that provides novel services to other businesses struggles to survive and thrive in its own domain. Dr. Ahmad, the founder of IFS, was a successful entrepreneur until the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his business environment and increased the difficulties for IFS. He is now confronted with a dilemma: How can he improve the performance of his small consultancy firm and ensure its sustainability and expansion? In the post-COVID-19 era, should he attempt to reinvent his current business or diversify into another one?","PeriodicalId":40720,"journal":{"name":"Asian Case Research Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141812967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emerald Lawns’ story unfolds in the unique context of Mollem, an emerging market characterized by rich natural resources and abundant biodiversity. Joshi’s venture leveraged these factors while adhering to the principles of sustainability. However, after a decade of growth and adaptation, Joshi faces a pivotal decision. He finds himself at a crossroad, questioning whether the resort has strayed from its original vision. This dilemma centers on the challenge of balancing the diverse demands of attracting dedicated birding enthusiasts, who value the resort’s focus on niche wildlife experiences, with the needs and expectations of pleasure-seeking tourists. In navigating this complex terrain, Joshi must remain true to his social entrepreneurial values while ensuring the financial sustainability of Emerald Lawns. In this context, the case provides a thought-provoking exploration of organizational management decisions and the dilemmas that can arise in an emerging market, of balancing commercial interests with personal passion for nature.","PeriodicalId":40720,"journal":{"name":"Asian Case Research Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141812670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The stock markets witnessed a crash and most stocks were trading at decade-low prices. Mr. Kumar identified this as an opportunity for investment and wealth creation. He started scanning the stocks related to different sectors like Retail, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, E-commerce, and soon discovered the agricultural equipment and machinery sector stocks may offer attractive opportunities. He collected data related to the agricultural machinery sector and details of Indian companies operating in the Agricultural Machinery and Farm equipment sector. After reviewing the company profiles, he concluded that Escorts Ltd. and VST Tillers Tractors Ltd. were less diversified companies that mostly focused on manufacturing agricultural equipment. Upon analyzing the financial performance of the two companies, he was unable to decide which of these two companies for investments had the potential to deliver better returns. The goal was to identify Value or Growth stocks for a short-term investment horizon of 12–18 months, as he had no idea what the long-term outlook might be in the post-COVID-19 era.","PeriodicalId":40720,"journal":{"name":"Asian Case Research Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2024-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141669556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HUL termed the rebranding as an important evolutionary step that moved away from the “regressive idea of beauty” and banished an undesirable social stereotype. Stakeholders had divergent opinions with the rebranding effort being termed from “path-breaking” to “too little”. Likewise, there was a divided house on the future sales of the repositioned brand. However, G&L, akin to its predecessor, maintained traction in the marketplace. The case provides an opportunity to understand the concepts of brand positioning and brand repositioning. It highlights how a corporate citizen can engage in responsible advertising and break an undesirable social stereotype. Attributes associated with fairness were identified to capture the extent of brand repositioning. Attributes associated with fairness were identified to capture the extent of brand repositioning. The primary data collected on such attributes was analysed with the help of Multi-Dimensional Scaling using alternating least-squares (ALSCAL) method.
