Traditionally, these systems use only user and item information. Over time, new information is being used, such as contextual information, which has improved the accuracy of the generated recommendations. In this work, we propose a context-aware recommender method that extracts contextual information from textual reviews using a word embedding based model. In addition, we propose two ways of considering textual contexts in recommender systems, the \"Context of Reviews\" and the \"Context of Items\". We evaluated our proposal by using the Yelp dataset (RecSysChallenge 2013); three baselines; and four context-aware recommender systems. In general, our proposal seems to be superior to the three baselines, mainly considering the \"Context of Items\", and the results were promising, allowing some lines of future work.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"165 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132982160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research on this topic has been active and promising due to its wide-range applications. However, most of the recent developments are simulated by assuming that the network structure remains static during epidemics. Moreover, the existing protection schemes are limited to the simplified pre-emptive and post-emptive schemes. The pre-emptive scheme protects the most critical nodes of networks prior to epidemic spreading, behaving as a prevention mechanism. In post-emptive schemes, the protections are allocated in the presence of epidemics, when the attacks have already spread over the network, simulating a late curative response. Given a limited k resource budget, both of those schemes spend the whole resources in a single chance. In this paper, we introduce a novel adaptive protection scheme by gradually protecting nodes in response to the incoming attacks. We consider the adaptive scheme in a more challenging network structure, the dynamic networks. We propose the n-step fitted Q-learning for training the model under reinforcement approach. We further incorporate graph embedding as a feature-based representation of the network state. We also demonstrate the potential of our proposal as a non-deterministic approach for this graph protection problem. Experimental results show that our proposed model effectively restrain epidemic propagation in real-world network datasets.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130749945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Evaluation of systems generating headlines is a very challenging and undeveloped area. In this paper, we introduce a system that performs automatic evaluation of systems in terms of a quality of the generated headlines. The evaluation is performed using multiple metrics for comparing evaluated headlines with the gold standard ones or measuring their coverage of main document topics. Both types of metrics evaluate headline's content and informativeness, but not grammatical structure. The only input required by our system is a set of documents with gold standard and automatically generated headlines. The Headline Evaluation System (HEvaS) provides a user with a choice from multiple (10) metrics, then calculates the chosen metrics, performs statistical analysis of the evaluated systems and visualizes the results. Multiple headline generation systems can be evaluated at the same run. This paper describes all evaluation metrics and architecture, utilized by our system. As an evaluation of the HEvaS, we perform a case study with a couple of baseline systems and report the results. Although we tested the system on English content only, the multilingual content can also be supported.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115091911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since personalization, which is believed to encourage people to consume fewer diverse contents, can lead to fragmentation and polarization in society, exposing people to more diverse contents is important. In this paper, we investigate using web TV data what behavioral and environmental features influence users to consume more diverse contents. We tackle this problem by building a classification model that predicts whether users will consume contents that are comprised of more diverse sources and features. We measure the change of the consumed content diversity of users with the method in our previous work and design six features based on our basic research and previous studies. The result of our experiment shows that our model predicts with high accuracy the change of the consumed content diversity of users, which means that the increase of the diversity of the consumed content of users is explained well with our six features. Our analysis of the model shows that consuming contents across multiple genres and inadvertent exposure to various contents positively affect users and encourage them broaden their horizons. The former has especially strong influence. In addition, we demonstrate that active-seeking behaviors of users and the amount of content in their most interested areas negatively affect the increase of their consumed content diversity. Our findings in this study are expected to be applied to web media to moderate the effect of selective exposure and reduce fragmentation and polarization in society.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128266562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, strategic business partnerships become important for a business to succeed, especially for those exposed to a dynamic and uncertain market. Therefore, this study aims to identify expressive virtual relationships among businesses that are generated spontaneously by users in social media. To this end, a business similarity model based on common spontaneous reactions of users in social media, particularly Facebook, is proposed, as well as a new algorithm for detecting business communities within the proposed model. To demonstrate the proposed approach, the study uses more than 280 million user reactions on Facebook about businesses in Curitiba, Brazil. Exploring these data and the proposed approach, this study shows the possibility to identify non-trivial relations between businesses, which might enable the development of new mechanisms for recommending strategic business partnerships for entrepreneurs and business owners.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134054402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The drawback of most previous work is that they cannot generalize to unseen frames. This work introduces the task of precise KB verbalization that is aimed at generating an exact description for the given factual triples. We propose a novel sequence-to-sequence (seq2seq) model with the local pointer network to deal with this task. The approach to training data construction is also explored. Experimental results show our method improves the performances in terms of Meteor and slot error rates. Human evaluation is also performed to confirm the effectiveness of our model.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123427931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

How can a brand choose the optimal place to locate its stores, given the social media pulse? Which are the suitable metrics to guide such challenging decisions? This work addresses such crucial problems by a novel location casting approach which extracts and integrates knowledge from open data and social media, providing specific indicators and a systematic pipeline for effective locations casting. Emphasis is placed on how the derived knowledge will assess the particular characteristics of accessibility, interest, and centrality to identify fine grained urban indicators. The proposed pipeline predicts the success potential of a chain store's location, under individual or combined such indicators individually. The experimentation under qualitative tests, indicates that the proposed approach provides reliable estimations of brand's locations suitability, and also outperforms existing similar state-of-the-art approaches.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124770204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a whole variety of games and the role of AI in them can vary from case to case. Thus, the main challenge is to create a system allowing for meeting various design goals with relatively easy to use interfaces. We present the conceptual architecture of Grail and algorithms chosen by us to cover a wide spectrum of use cases: Planning, Utility System, Simplified Games with Tree Search and scripting. We believe that together they fulfill the requirements of a flexible AI engine.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126115259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
