Yet, one of their major drawback comes from the absence of verification of the piece of information, especially with viral messages. This is the issue addressed by the participants of the Verification Multimedia Use task of Mediaeval 2016. They used several approaches and clues from different modalities (text, image, social information). In this paper, we explore the interest of combining and merging these approaches in order to evaluate the predictive power of each modality and to make the most of their potential complementarity.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127712096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different from the well-known supervised learning, the training data of LLP is in form of bags and only the proportion of each class in each bag is available. Actually, many modern applications can be abstracted to this problem such as modeling voting behaviors and spam filtering. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end LLP model based on convolutional neural network called IDLLP, which employs the the idea of inverting a classifier calibration process to learn a classifier from bag probabilities. Firstly, convolutional neural network regression is used to estimate the values obtained by inverting the probability of each bag. Secondly, stochastic gradient descent based on batch is adapt to train the model, where the batch size depends on the bag size. At last, experiments demonstrate that our algorithm can obtain the best accuracies on image data compared with several recently developed methods.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127585674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In any system this is a critical issue, since the goals of the tasks are not likely to be met. In that sense, the purpose of mental workload assessment is to estimate the mental demand of tasks to take action according to that, avoiding execution errors. In this paper we study two techniques of mental workload assessment, physiological signals and simulation models of mental behavior with the ACT-R cognitive architecture. The contributions of this study are in two folds: validate a positive correlation among physiological and simulated data and, to develop a supervised model of classification with a cost-sensitive feature selection algorithm using the ACT-R simulated data as an input of the model. Results show a positive, significant correlation among the two data sources, and that the model selects features of less cost and classify better than a baseline approach with 93.1% accuracy in average.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132226191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the volume of this new digital content, it is very difficult for learners to find the needed information at the right time. Digital textbooks, as well-curated domain knowledge sources, could provide a conceptual and physical platform that unites disparate educational resources as one entity. Educational resource linkage, with state-of-the-art techniques, are based on term-level and topic-level representations. However, term-level representations suffer from the term-mismatch problem and often, topics are too broad for linking to other educational resources. To address these challenges, we propose to link educational resources through concept-level representation. The proposed model generates concept embeddings by utilizing domain-specific educational content and external knowledge graph resources to achieve robust and effective concept-level representations. We conducted evaluations of the proposed models on multiple contents linking tasks, and the results demonstrate that concept-level representations perform better than the state-of-the-art representations in helping students to find more learning resources easily. This could increase both students' learning and satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124341436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, analyses of social media have appreciated in value for understanding human behaviors to grasp public interests or sentiments, as both the medium and outcome of human experiences. From the state of the art psychology and neuroscience, human behaviors, regarding both physical and linguistic aspects, are mostly dependent on sensory perceptions under the realm of the subconscious. Even though sensation is the most fundamental element to understand human behaviors, the rack of background resources make it hard to study the social sensation comparing with the sentimental or opinion mining. This paper focuses on building sensation knowledges to obtain useful human perceptual experiences in natural language expressions, as a requisite for the social sensation analysis. We try to approach the constructing lexicons as a sensation knowledge from two viewpoints, such as a deep learning and lexicon based methods. Then we classify social media text based on the lexicons with considering a part of speech as well as semantic meanings of each word. Finally, we identify which knowledge has a good performance to distinguish sensation expressions from social media data in terms of accuracy and and F-score.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117113387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To discover network clusters, there have been many approaches proposed, utilizing network topology, or node attributes. However, there are no effective approaches that are able to discover clusters in the network with multiple modalities of attributes. In this paper, we propose a novel clustering model, called CNMMA, to discover network clusters using edge structure, and multi-modality attributes associated with vertices. Assuming edge structure, and node attributes are generated by corresponding low dimensional latent spaces (matrices), CNMMA can learn an optimal latent matrix representing the cluster membership for each vertex in the network. Besides, CNMMA makes use of an effective method to regulate the latent spaces w.r.t. edge structure and node attributes so that those vertices sharing similar edges and modality-wise attributes are more possible to be assigned with the same cluster labels. CNMMA has been tested with several real-world networks, which contain multiple modalities of node attributes, and has been compared with state-of-the-art approaches to network clustering. The experimental results show that CNMMA outperforms most approaches in most datasets. The clusters discovered by CNMMA are better matched with the ground truth.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"1965 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125693123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The so-called Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) are taking over the management of sensitive data on behalf of their producers and users (e.g., medical records, financial investment, energy market). Therefore, trusted interactions are needed more than ever, while accountability and transparency among the agents seem crucial characteristics to be achieved. To do so, recent trends advocate the use of blockchain technologies (BCT) in MAS. The blockchain is a distributed ledger technology that can execute programmable transaction logic, and provides a shared, immutable, and transparent append-only register of all the actions happening in the network. Although a few theoretical approaches have already been proposed, the quest for such a system consolidating BCT and MAS to guarantee privacy, scalability, transparency, and efficiency continues. This paper presents a reconciling system including BCT within the dynamics of a MAS. Such a system aims at (i) building a solid ground for trusted interactions and (ii) enabling more characterizing feature-based and trustworthy ways of computing agent reputation. The system has been tested in four scenarios with different configurations (regular executions and involving down-agents or malicious behaviors). Finally, the paper summarizes and discusses the experience gained, argues about the strategic choice of binding MAS and BCT, and presents some future challenges.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"456 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125796665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though tools exist for checking the originality of texts, those do not work with images, which can be plagiarized as well. In previous works, we have developed the Docode plagiarism detection system, which works with text, but, as commercial requirements have evolved, it is necessary for it to be able to work with images. In this work we present a plagiarism detection engine for images, which works by fusing texture and color features in a weighted combination, so that it can work as a general-purpose engine. We ran experiments with the system, analyzing the improvement made by fusing color and texture features, and the impact of downsizing images on the performance of the system. We see that we reach a recall at 10 elements of 80% and the system allows an image compression of one half without considerable impact on its performance, and with this we can conclude we can build a plagiarism detection engine for images, able to handle general collections for its integration in the Docode system.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121752913","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The limitation is that the quality of topics generated from modelled corpus are not always good because many topics contain intrusive and ambiguous words. This negative drawback would affect the performance of text based application systems based on topic models. Hence, topic evaluation to assess and to rank the topics is really important for the good quality topics before applying those topics to text based applications. In this study, we proposed an ontology-based topic evaluation method for enhancing information filtering, named as STRbTCM. This new model assesses the quality of topics by matching topic models with headings in Library Congress Subject Heading (LCSH) ontology. To evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed model, we compare the model with two existing topic evaluation methods applied to information filtering system. In addition, we also compare our proposed model to term-based model BM25 and two other models based on topics: TNG and LDA_words. Through extensive experiments, we find that our proposed model performed better than other baseline models according to four main evaluating measures.","PeriodicalId":405966,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115090306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
