The estimation of the solar irradiation is obtained by processing these measurements using a mathematical model of a photovoltaic cell, combined with a PI controller. Since the PV cell current is very sensitive to the irradiance level, the principle of the method is to force the photovoltaic model to reproduce the same current as that measured on the cell by applying an appropriate irradiance as input, for measured temperature and voltage. The appropriate irradiance, which is the output of the estimator, is provided by the PI controller in such way that the estimated current by the model follows exactly the measured current. The PI controller also ensures the self-calibration of the photovoltaic reference-cell depending on the temperature changes. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been validated in simulation and on an experimental platform.","PeriodicalId":405923,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical and Information Technologies (ICEIT)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120943420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, light obstruction on the solar panel due to dust accumulation can significantly influence the performance and efficiency of the system, and thus can affect the cash flow of the system operators. Despite the problem, only little studies have been conducted on the nature of dust accumulation on solar PV panels. Many of the studies involved imitation of dust for in laboratory tests, which could not assess the actual phenomenon. The main objective of this work was to study the effect of dust accumulation on the performance of solar PV panel in Malaysia. This work would enable appropriate scheduling for cleaning of the panels. The study was conducted on real-time basis on a building's roof. Measurements of irradiation, power output and the corresponding mass of dust collected were performed on hourly, daily, weekly and monthly basis. It was found from the study that the system's performance could drop by about 6% annually. On the maintenance aspect, in order to sustain economical operation, the cleaning interval should be every two months for industrial-scale systems that produce a minimum of 100 MWh/day. The interval would be shorter (i.e. one month) for smaller systems (residential).","PeriodicalId":405923,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical and Information Technologies (ICEIT)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121369172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, it become widely used for personal services and for entertainment. Since the arrivals of this paradigm and the providing of services through Internet, information technology live a radical shift in its adoption. The financial benefits and the informatics features of Cloud Computing makes it a necessity to maintain the development of many sectors, as well as education. However, its security weaknesses are the major barrier for its adoption. Over the years, the IT and financial needs of the university keep speedily growing with the increasing number of students. To overcome its requirements, university is called to adopt the Cloud Computing technologies. We propose in this paper a design of a private IaaS Cloud adopted for the university IT infrastructure. Also we propose two solutions to improve its security; especially the isolation of data in the IaaS Cloud, and the isolation of networks within the university by adopting the Tree-Rule Firewall approach.","PeriodicalId":405923,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical and Information Technologies (ICEIT)","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127488369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A specific application of the antenna in microwave thermography in S-Band [2-4] GHz for breast cancer detection is considered. In a sensor network, the nodes communicate with each other to pass the information to a data sink. These nodes have limited energy resource, and to increase the lifetime of the network, it is necessary to design communication protocols which aim at reducing the consumed power. Several advanced communication protocols for sensor networks have been already proposed in order to optimize system performance using the BER criterion. We can classify them mainly in two categories: those which are based on network coding by inserting relays between sensors and destination, and those which use ARQ protocols. In this paper we compare these different solutions using a new criterion: the consumed power. The goal is to obtain a conclusion on the judicious choice of the protocol according to the range of SNR's in a context of small network (we consider the BAN context for example). The simulation results show that above a given threshold SNR ARQ protocols outperform network coding solution and we are able to accurately predict this threshold value. Furthermore, we proposed a new transmission protocol named HCVD (Horizontal Correction Vertical Detection) protocol, which is a new protocol combining network coding and ARQ protocol and which exhibits the best tradeoff BER performances/consumed power.","PeriodicalId":405923,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical and Information Technologies (ICEIT)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129458238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach addresses the problem of unknown indoor environments exploration, based on robot mobile moving and sonar scanning. The measurements given by the localization system (odometry for the test system), update for the robot self-localization. The map building process maintaining two grid maps: (1) map grid models the environment occupancy (OM), (2) map grid memorize the robot trajectory(TM). The use of two grid maps provides an efficacy description and use of the environment information over time.
