Publicada entre os anos de 1956 e 1970, atravessando, portanto, diferentes regimes de governo e mudanças bruscas na condução do Estado brasileiro, a revista do Instituto Nacional do Livro (INL) maneja conceitos centrais para a compreensão de sua atuação e de sua relação com o seu tempo e o seu meio. Dentre eles, veremos neste artigo como a Revista do Livro ativa e constrói suas próprias noções de tradição, de nacional, de cultura no processo de construção do seu próprio cânone da literatura brasileira.Palavras-chave: Revista do Livro; Instituto Nacional do Livro; tradição; nacional; cultura; cânone.Abstract: The political, literary, and cultural project promulgated by the Revista do Livro mobilizes a significant series of complex conceptualizations that appear at different times, with variations in their meanings and applications. Published between 1956 and 1970, thus going through different governmental regimes and abrupt changes in the conduction of the Brazilian State, the magazine of the National Book Institute handles concepts that are central to the understanding of its performance and its relationship with its time and milieu. Comparo o trabalho da autora ao trabalho de uma trapeira e flâneuse do fim do século XX, que vai buscar, em outras formas de mediação, uma nova compreensão do capitalismo e das manifestações da economia na cultura. Ao longo do artigo, tentei realizar uma assemblage de reflexões fragmentárias sobre obras literárias direta ou indiretamente relacionadas ao meu objeto de estudo. Assim, começo o texto apresentando uma reflexão rápida sobre as figuras do trapeiro (chiffonnier) e do flâneur em Baudelaire e, em seguida, passo a Journal du dehors, intercalando a essa análise um breve comentário sobre Nadja, de André Breton (2011), que, além de citada por Ernaux (2012), se aproxima temática e formalmente de Journal du dehors.Palavras-chave: montagem literária; Annie Ernaux; Walter Benjamin.Abstract: This article aims to analyze the book Journal du dehors, by Arnie Ernaux (2012), in light of Walter Benjamin’s (1989, 1993, 2019) reflections on the “literary montage”, as expressed in the second volume of his unfinished work Passages (Das Passagen-Werk). I will attempt to compare Ernaux’s work to that of a “chiffonnière” and “flâneuse” from the XXth century, who goes in search of a new understanding of capitalism and of economy’s manifestation in culture through different ways of mediation. This article takes the form of an “assemblage” of fragmentary reflections on other works of literature that could potentially be associated to Journal du dehors. I begin my text briefly reflecting on how the chiffonnier and the flâneur are presented in Baudelaire’s poetry. Nessa região, encontramos a variante tepe ([ɾ]), como uma das possibilidades de produção nesse contexto. Participaram da pesquisa seis representantes da comunidade, divididos em três faixas etárias: 20-50, 51-70 e acima de 70, do sexo feminino e masculino, que narraram suas histórias de vida em entrevistas de fala semiespontânea. O corpus foi formado por 147 itens lexicais que apresentavam as variantes de róticos em onset silábico inicial ou medial de palavra. Com base nos resultados acústicos, foi verificada a gradiência dos dados e foi constatado que os descendentes italianos da comunidade estudada produzem, como r-forte, diferentes variantes, além do tepe ([ɾ]). Fatores, como idade, identidade e região de origem, parecem influenciar na variedade de róticos produzidos. Foi observada uma diminuição na produção do tepe na dimensão diageracional, o que aponta para um estudo em tempo aparente.Palavras-chave: róticos; Alto Vale do Itajaí (SC); variação; Sociofonética.Abstract: This study, under the perspective of Sociofonética, presents an acoustic analysis of the variants of the sounds of r-forte in the speech of Italian descendants of the city of Rio do Sul, Alto Vale do Itajaí - SC. In this region, we find the variant tepe ([ɾ]), as one of the production possibilities in this context. Six community representatives participated in the research, divided into three age groups: 20-50, 51-70 and over 70, female and male, who narrated their life stories in semi-spontaneous speech interviews. The corpus was formed by 147 lexical items that presented the rhotic variants in initial or medial syllabic onset of the word. Based on the acoustic results, the gradient of the data was verified and the hypothesis was confirmed that the Italian descendants of the studied community produce, as r-forte, different variants, in addition to the tepe ([ɾ]). Factors, such as age, identity and region of origin, seem to influence the variety of rotics produced. A partir do cotejo entre as duas homenagens poéticas, será feito o acompanhamento editorial do poema dedicado ao engenheiro profissional e poeta, para conferir o valor comunicativo de sua representação naquele contexto de pronunciamento específico. De igual modo, a análise deste poema será desenvolvida de acordo com suas variações ao longo da produção autoral de João Cabral de Melo Neto por meio das reedições do livro que o coligiu. Para tanto, serão acionadas a edição princeps do volume, sua reedição em Duas águas (1956) e a fixação do poema na década seguinte, quando as Poesias completas (1968) foram publicadas. Como contraponto ao perfil literário de Joaquim Cardozo esboçado pelo autor, será acionado o depoimento de Oscar Niemeyer em Minha experiência em Brasília (1961) sobre a atuação de seu amigo e engenheiro dileto no ofício comum a ambos.Palavras-chave: poesia brasileira moderna; crítica textual; João Cabral de Melo Neto; Joaquim Cardozo.Abstract: Among the poems collected in the book O engenheiro (1945), much emphasis was given to the poem “A Carlos Drummond de Andrade”, published by side of “A Joaquim Cardozo”, which had not almost any repercussion. From the comparison between the two poetic tributes, the editorial accompaniment of the poem dedicated to the engineer and poet will be made, to assign the communicative value of their representation in that context of specific pronouncement. Likewise, the analysis of this poem will be developed according to their variations throughout the authorial production of João Cabral de Melo Neto through the reissues of the book that collated it. To this end, the princeps edition of the volume, its reissue in Duas águas (1956) and the fixation of the poem in the following decade, when the Poesias completas (1968) was published. A Self-Paced Reading task in moving-window fashion was carried out with native speakers of Brazilian Portuguese. The results seem to indicate that temporary ambiguous DP and the resolution of the ellipsis site were more costly to process int comparison to the other two coordinated sentences.Keywords: Sentence Processing; Ellipsis; Gapping; Brazilian Portuguese. Resumo: Este artigo tem como objetivo explorar se o processamento online de sentenças elípticas gapping, com ambiguidade temporária do DP que inicia a segunda oração, como em “A Beatriz assou a pizza e a Carla o bolo de limão pro lanche”, é mais custoso em comparação com outros dois tipos de sentenças coordenadas, estrutura com coordenação de objetos como em “A Beatriz assou a pizza e o bolo de limão pro lanche da tarde”, e estrutura com sentenças coordenadas sem elipse, como em “A Beatriz assou a pizza e a Carla preparou um suco de limão”. Aplicou-se uma tarefa de Leitura Automonitorada, com design moving-window a falantes do Português Brasileiro. Foram explorados acusticamente os parâmetros de frequência fundamental, duração e intensidade em 252 enunciados que figuram no corpus AMPER-Por. Os movimentos melódicos pré-nuclear, nuclear e final foram observados e permitiram encontrar algumas diferenças entre o português brasileiro e o europeu, principalmente aquele falado nas ilhas. Em relação à duração, a principal diferença entre o português brasileiro e o europeu consiste na maior duração nos dados do Brasil. A intensidade não se mostrou um parâmetro relevante para diferenciar prosodicamente o português europeu do brasileiro.Palavras-chave: prosódia; AMPER-Por; português europeu; português brasileiro; dialetologia.Abstract: This work aims to compare the prosody used in declarative and interrogative sentences in Brazilian Portuguese (spoken in the cities of Belém, Belo Horizonte, Florianópolis and São Paulo) and in European Portuguese – spoken in the cities of Vinhais (mainland), Fenais (Azores) and Calheta (Madeira Island). The acoustic parameters of fundamental frequency, duration and intensity were analyzed in 252 sentences which are part of the AMPER-Por corpus. The pre-nuclear, nuclear and final pitch were observed and this allowed to find some differences between Brazilian and European Portuguese, mainly that spoken on the islands. Regarding the duration, the main difference between Brazilian and European Portuguese is the longer duration in the Brazilian data. Using a self-paced reading task, we investigate the effects of syntactic priming during the comprehension of passive sentences in Brazilian Portuguese (BP). Adult native speakers of BP read target passive sentences in primed and unprimed conditions, with verb repetition between prime and target in both conditions. Our results show that participants read target sentences faster in the primed than in the unprimed condition, that is, after having been exposed to the same syntactic structure in a previous sentence. These findings indicate that, at least in part, the processing of passive Caligrama, Belo Horizonte, v. 26, n. 2, p. 47-66, 2021 48 voice was facilitated by repeated exposure to the syntactic structure. This study investigates the connection of lexical boost to priming effects of the passive construction in Brazilian Portuguese (BP) in an image description task to contribute to the debate about whether lexical boost effects are a result of surface word repetition or a connection between the lexical item in the working memory and the structure in long-term memory. The task measured subjects’ working memory (WM) capacity and manipulated task protocol by adding a matching cover task to the picture description task. Data collected indicate that structural priming effects in the image description task were contingent on lexical identity, presenting a positive correlation with choice of structure in the description. WM capacity did not influence priming effects, nor did subjects’ performance in the cover task. Results provide evidence in favor of lexical boost effects being a result of residual activation of the connection between lexical item and structure. Thus, such differences can result in changes from one speech production to another. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate which individuals, whether those with higher or lower working memory capacity, implement more new information during task repetition. A sample of 28 students from a public university underwent data collection which consisted of a working memory test (Speaking Span Test), a translation task, repeated twice, and two questionnaires. Caligrama, Belo Horizonte, v. 26, n. 2, p. 107-123, 2021 108 In general, the results showed that higher working memory capacity individuals were those who most implemented new information during task repetition, in terms of the implementation of new lexical items. The results are discussed in the light of the literature in the fields of working memory and task repetition. Nesse sentido, as palavras cognatas possuem diferentes graus de semelhança, como por exemplo pares do português-inglês: cognatos perfeitos “banana”, cognatos de alto grau “momento-moment” e cognatas de baixo grau “noite-night”. Focalizando a relação formal e independentemente do conhecimento bilíngue, como as palavras cognatas do português-inglês são reconhecidas por monolíngues? O presente artigo tem o objetivo de investigar o reconhecimento de palavras cognatas do português-inglês por monolíngues através do grau de semelhança ortográfica. Para tanto, aplicamos um experimento de julgamento de aceitabilidade entre pares de palavras cognatas. Com o objetivo de se pesquisar o grau de similaridade, utilizou-se a Distância de Levenshtein Normalizada entre as palavras cognatas. Os resultados apontaram uma correlação significativa entre o julgamento de aceitabilidade e este coeficiente. Portanto, os resultados indicaram que mesmo participantes não-bilíngues são capazes de reconhecer a granularidade da semelhança ortográfica. Ainda, de forma exploratória, foi possível determinar o coeficiente a partir do qual as palavras podem ser consideradas pares cognatos. Enfim, espera-se que o presente estudo permita uma melhor compreensão das palavras cognatas assim como provoque uma reflexão do monolinguismo. In this sense, cognate words have different degrees of similarity, as for example PortugueseEnglish pairs: perfect cognates “banana”, high degree cognates “momento-moment” and low degree cognates “noite-night”. Focusing on the formal relationship and regardless of bilingual knowledge, how are cognate words in Portuguese-English recognized by monolinguals? This article aims to investigate the recognition of cognate words in Portuguese-English by monolinguals through the degree of orthographic similarity. For that, we applied an acceptability judgment experiment between cognate word pairs. In order to investigate the degree of similarity, the Normalized Levenshtein Distance was used between cognate words. The results showed a significant correlation between the acceptability judgment and this coefficient. Therefore, the results indicated that even non-bilingual participants are able to recognize the granularity of orthographic similarity. Still, in an exploratory way, it was possible to determine the coefficient from which words can be considered cognate pairs.
