Biomass gasification technology is used to convert the biomass into gas. The gasifier ash extraction operations are controlled by conventional controller like ON-OFF. These types of controllers are providing unsatisfied performance over variations of on pressure drop in the reduction zone and oxygen level of the gasifier. An alternate method is used that is called fuzzy controller. In this paper, a fuzzy controller has been introduced. The proposed controller has to actuate the screw conveyer motor according to the pressure drop in the reactor. The regulate and rate of change of pressure have been verified by simulation.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"927 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114487290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Brain Computer Interface (BCI) is a System that provides a non-muscular communication between men and machines. Communication with BCI is done without the use of language or without controlling the computer manually with body parts. We are describing the OpenViBE platform that serves all the necessary steps required in designing typical BCI system. OpenViBE works on EEG signals to measure brain activity. EEG signals on the basis of frequencies and amplitudes are classified into different bands corresponding to different states like sleep, awake, mediation and alert. In this paper we describe the preprocessing, feature extraction, classification and conversion of signals into commands by taking prerecorded EEG signals of real hand movement and motor imaginary movement and convert it into suitable commands that are used to control virtual reality computer application.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125130598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pade's 2nd order approximation for the time delay term is considered for obtaining the controller structures of PID. Study of the performance of the designed controllers has been carried out on various unstable processes. Set-point weighting is considered to reduce the overshoot. The proposed scheme consists of only one tuning parameter, and systematic guidelines are provided for selection of the tuning parameter based on the peak value of the sensitivity function. Robustness analysis has been carried out based on small gain theorem. Nominal and robust control performances are achieved with the proposed method and improved closed loop performances are obtained when compared to the recently reported methods in the literature.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"112 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134238846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main harmonic sources of distribution lines are the non linear loads and frequent switching of industrial loads. The non linear loads take discontinuous current and thus it injects harmonics. The switching of loads produces voltage sag and swells which leads to harmonics in the lines. The proposed hybrid shunt active filter is fully characterized by series LC and shunt DC link connected through 3-phase active filter. The disturbances in the supply voltage and load current due to frequent switching of a 5 HP wound induction motor in the 415 V, 50 Hz distribution line are observed using CW240 power quality meter. The same is simulated in MATLAB with and without filter. The simulation results obtained from the proposed method proves that it gives comparatively better THD value.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131550471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wireless Sensor Networks have been proposed for variety of applications such as Industrial control and monitoring and Home automation and Consumer electronics and Security and Military sensing, Asset tracking and supply chain management, Intelligent Agriculture, Missile directing, Fire alarming, Landslide Warning, Environmental monitoring and health monitoring and commercial applications. In Wireless Sensor Network large number of nodes are deployed randomly. Depends on the network architecture the application may be personalized such as Energy Efficiency, Routing and Power Management and data dissemination. Energy efficiency is one critical issue for sensor networks because many sensors are equipped with batteries that have limited life time. In this paper, Energy efficient routing protocol for wireless sensor networks using spatial correlation based medium access control protocol compared with IEEE 802.11 is proposed. A model for WSN is proposed using spatial correlation based collaborative medium access control (CC-MAC) with AODV and DSR. Simulation results have been obtained by using Ns2. Knowledge is considered as the main competitive asset of the organization. One of the objectives of knowledge management (KM) is to improve productivity by effective knowledge sharing and transfer. Agile software development has put a new focus on the question of how to share knowledge among members of software development teams. In contrast to heavy-weight, document-centric approaches, agile approaches rely on face-to-face communication for knowledge transfer. Pair programming is one such practice with the idea to share the work specific knowledge across the development teams through pair rotation. This paper introduces work on developing a framework for capturing the tacit knowledge shared among the practitioners of agile software development methodologies. This approach facilitates the organizational learning process by capturing and maintaining the necessary knowledge.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132996974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With increase in demand users are expecting quality of service (QoS) for multimedia services in WLAN. The legacy protocol IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.11e does not provide QoS and fairness for converging traffic in WLAN, so efficient management of protocols are required to provide acceptable QoS for real time traffic and fairness to best effort traffic. In this paper modified wireless token network (MWTN) is proposed to provide the required QoS by decreasing the size of the contention window (CW). This paper analyses legacy IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.11e and wireless token network (WTN) in terms of throughput, delay, load, retransmission and data dropped performance, for converging traffic in WLAN and compare the results with proposed MWTN, to show that performance of converging traffic is improved in MWTN.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115006786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
