The most fundamental part of virtualization is the hypervisor. To perform maintenance on a host server, we need to be able to move all of its VMs onto other host servers with minimum disruption to end users. Even more importantly, if our virtual workloads peak and need more resources, our virtual infrastructure should be able to automatically locate a host server with adequate resources and move the VMs to this host. And the entire process should be completely transparent to end users. VM migration, especially live migration is a desirable feature in Grid and Cloud Computing systems for load balancing, elastic scaling, fault tolerance, and hardware maintenance. The security and reliability issues that reside in VM live migration is a critical factor for its acceptance by IT industry. Though the performance is optimized through live migration, there are two important issues to be noted, reliability and security. In this paper, we propose how to migrate a VM Guest to another VM Host Server. We discuss the steps regarding the KVM live migration requirements and the security and reliability issues in live migration.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115122529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Packed Bed, the inlet temperatures of both hot and cold fluids are maintained constant. In performance analysis the flow rate of cold fluid was varied from 3 lpm to 8 lpm for both water-water system and CMC-water system. The flow rate of hot fluid was maintained constant for both water-water system and CMC-water system. In this work the composition of the CMC-water system were varied from 0.05% to 0.20% on volume basis. The experiments were carried out for both parallel and counter current flow pattern, compared and reported. A physical model was developed using dimensional analysis and fitted with the experimental data. Simulation studies were done using this physical model and compared with the experimental values. The simulation studies were found to agree well with the experimental results.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"16 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116850503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, a well known problem of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) i.e the occurrence of high peak- to-average power ratio (PAPR) in the time domain signal reduces the efficiency of transmit high power amplifier.In this paper, we propose a closed loop orthogonal frequency division multiplexing multiple- input multiple-output (MIMO) transmit preprocessing system, where the channel coding method referred as pilot symbol assisted rateless coding (PSAR) is used to mitigate the effects of fading and three PAPR reduction methods are used and the best method to reduce PAPR is chosen. The performance of proposed system is measured in terms of bit error rate (BER) and complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) for PAPR. The proposed system achieves about 3 dB improvement in PAPR over the traditional OFDM.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"504 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116202042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Security is a major concern as a grid enables sharing of valuable resources and sensitive information across heterogeneous users. Authentication, message integrity and confidentiality are the major concerns in grid security. The proposed approach uses a trigon based authentication and authorization of the grid entities. Grid service is stateful and transient web service, which can be invoked by clients, and is considered to be the mainstream of future internet. A service is defined by identifying sequences of specific message exchanges that cause the service to perform some operation. By thus defining these operations only in terms of message exchange, we achieve great flexibility in how services are implemented and where they may be located.The creation of Web Services standards is an industry-led initiative, with some of the emerging standards in various states of progress through the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The security protocol has been implemented and tested using Globus middleware. To achieve reuse of behaviors of this authentication concept, operations are often grouped together to form a SHA based authentication service using prerequisites as build.xml , globus-build-service.sh, WSDL file and globus as middleware.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128483005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A detailed study is carried out to investigate the self similarity of random delay dynamics due to the network traffic in shared medium. The fractionality or self-similarity in the network induced delay that corrupts the measured power signal coming from Self Powered Neutron Detectors (SPND) is estimated and analyzed. As any fractional order randomness is intrinsically different from conventional Gaussian kind of randomness, these delay dynamics need to be handled efficiently, before reaching the controller within the RRS. An attempt has been made to minimize the effect of the randomness in the reactor power transient data with few classes of smoothing filters. The performance measure of the smoothers with fractional order noise consideration is also investigated into.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128849858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper has made an attempt to design and implement the controlled Boost type DC-DC converter. The converter, inverter and control circuits are modelled and simulated with simple and basic analog circuitries. The converter system converts 36V DC to 230V sinusoidal AC. The control circuit uses Sliding Mode control , used as a 'Voltage Regulator' in this work. This paper presents the simulation results in PSIM(Version 6.0).PSIM provides a good platform for simulation due to its user-friendliness, accurate results and graphs and facilitation of a large number of circuit components. The details about the modelling of power circuit and control circuits are thoroughly presented.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129562675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper employs a new approach to regulate the blood glucose level of type I diabetic patient under an intensive insulin treatment. The closed-loop control scheme incorporates the design of robust H¿¿ controller to maintain the normoglycemic average of 80 mg/dl. Due to cost and complexity involved in testing the control algorithms to real patients, studies are done using a Type I diabetic patient model. Controller performance is assessed in terms of its ability to reject the effect of meal disturbance and to overcome the variability in the glucose-insulin dynamics from patient to patient. Computer simulations are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed technique and to show its superiority in controlling hyperglycemia over other existing algorithms.","PeriodicalId":403612,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Process Automation, Control and Computing","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125942603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
