An increasing range of devices are being developed with Wi-Fi capabilities including devices such as surveillance or \"spy\" cameras that allow for remote viewing of a live feed. News reports have shown hidden cameras being placed illegally, or without consent, in places including hotel rooms, workplaces, schools, and rental homes. This is a malicious invasion of privacy and has potential to facilitate extortion or blackmail. Current methods of finding hidden cameras typically involve manual surveying of the environment, radio frequency detectors, or the use of some smartphone cameras that cause infrared light to become visible. These methods can be ineffective, unreliable, or incur extra costs for hardware. The addition of Wi-Fi functionality in these maliciously placed devices, while enabling ease of remote viewing and access for the intruder, also creates a means of identifying and localizing them. In this paper, we investigate potential signal metrics to detect and localize hidden Wi-Fi cameras. We use signal metrics such as Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), Channel State Information (CSI) and Power Delay Profile (PDP) to determine the direction of the received Wi-Fi signal as well as estimate the distance to the hidden Wi-Fi camera. Our results show that these signal metrics can be used to detect and localize a hidden Wi-Fi device, with the CSI and PDP signal metrics achieving the best performance in scenarios with line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight to the hidden camera.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125153334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research and development have been conducted over time to realize IoT services using MQTT; however, when the number of connected IoT devices increase or an IoT system is deployed widely, issues such as scalability and interoperability exist. We have previously proposed an efficient communication method for large-scale data collection systems with multiple MQTT brokers such as smart street lighting systems, called the downward transfer method by tunneling, in which connection management is by a server and transfer from a server is by tunneling. In other words, the server manages the information of the broker to which the sensor is connected, called sensor location information; then, when the server notifies data to a sensor, it transfers a message with the sensor location information and original data to a specific broker, called a top broker, using tunneling technology. The top broker forwards the received message to a bottom broker according to the extracted sensor location information via de-tunneling. Because the top broker need not to manage a location information for each sensor, the downward transfer method by tunneling can reduce memory resources required for the connection management of the top broker. In addition, it can prevent an increase of traffic due to memory overflow. In this paper, we implemented a prototype of this downward transfer method by tunneling and evaluated the amount of traffic. As a result, we confirmed that the proposed downward transfer method by tunneling is effective and available for a large-scale data collection system.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114625168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to stop the waste of time in finding causes of failure in communication by scrutinizing the software of a system, this paper as a problem diagnosis report shares an idea that problems in the hardware of the system end up with malfunctions in satellite communication. Since the portals of the satellite wireless payload are taken up by the antenna and the filter, which account for forming the wireless link, the consequences of problematic RF components are investigated. In this paper, we consider a very general type of buffering schemes, namely, optical N-to-K priority queues with time-varying service capacity, where each packet is associated with a unique priority upon its arrival, at time slot t at most c(t) highest-priority packets are sent out from the queue if there are packets in the queue and the service capacity c(t) (0 ≤ c(t) ≤ K) of the queue is not zero, and up to N lowest-priority packets are dumped from the queue if there is a buffer overflow. We extend and generalize our previous constructions [8] of optical priority queues under a priority-based routing policy from single input/output to multiple inputs/outputs. The main contributions of this paper are as follows: (i) The priority queues considered in this paper subsume those considered in all previous works as special cases. (ii) Our queueing model with time-varying service capacity is not only more general but also more realistic than that with fixed service capacity previously studied in the literature. (iii) For the special case that N = K = 1, our constructions in this paper subsume those in [8] as special cases. (iv) For the special case that N = K, we show that an optical N-to-N priority queue with buffer size ${2^{O(sqrt {M/N} )}}$ (exponential in $sqrt {M/N} $) can be constructed by using an optical (M+2N)×(M+2N) (bufferless) crossbar switch and M fiber delay lines, which substantially improves the best result O(M3/N2) (polynomial in M/N) in the literature.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132998163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In practical situations, the number of base station (BS) antennas is much larger than that of user equipment (UE) antennas, resulting in an asymmetric MIMO fading channel. In this paper, a practical user-driven suboptimal JTRD scheme assuming time division duplex (TDD) in such an asymmetric MIMO fading channel is investigated. In a user-driven suboptimal JTRD scheme, firstly the user equipment (UE) determines its diversity weight vector, and then, BS determines its diversity weight vector so as to maximize the resulting composite channel gain for the given UE diversity weight vector. While the optimal JTRD jointly optimizes the diversity weight vectors at BS and UE by solving the eigen-equations composed of MIMO channel matrix. In principle, the user-driven suboptimal JTRD provides lower diversity gain than the optimal JTRD. In this paper, it is shown by numerical link capacity evaluation that in an asymmetric MIMO fading channel, where the number of BS antennas is much larger than that of UE antennas, the use of selection diversity in user-driven suboptimal diversity provides a slightly higher diversity gain than the use of maximal-ratio diversity and that the link capacity gap between the user-driven suboptimal JTRD and the optimal JTRD becomes quite small.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130087163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other hand, the high reliability of this system is also considered in this paper. It is important to formulate the communication error rate because it takes a long time to verify by the simulation. We need to investigate a quantitative evaluation method from the formulation of the communication error rate and evaluate the reliability of the system. However, this has not been accompanied with the implementation of robust host authentication or access control mechanisms to improve network security and prevent unauthorized access to the network. The current literature has explored the implementation of the widely adopted authentication mechanism - port knocking in SDN to address the former. However, they suffer from two major drawbacks making them vulnerable to MITM (Man-In-The-Middle) attacks: unsecured transfer of the port knocking sequences between the SDN controller and hosts, and the lack of host identity verification mechanisms post port knocking authentication. This paper introduces P4-sKnock: a P4 based two level host authentication and access control mechanism. The first level introduces encrypted dynamic port knocking to secure the transfer of port knocking sequences over a compromised channel by encrypting them. Further, a challenge-response host identity verification mechanism is introduced as a second level authentication measure following which a host can be authorized, quarantined or blocked owing to the programmability of the P4 switch providing robust access control. Experimental analysis shows that P4-sKnock can authenticate a new SDN host within 500 ms and mitigate MITM attacks like IP spoofing and replay attacks making it significantly more secure than previous P4 based port knocking authentication systems.","PeriodicalId":403546,"journal":{"name":"2022 27th Asia Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114688302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
